Monte will be missed. Man could he answer a question! Had some nice dialogue with him over the years and it was always appreciated.
Rest in Peace Monte. You are for sure one of the Good ones. A Legend!
Thanks 88Junior for posting his obituary. It was nice to put a face with the personality and read about his life.

Should be easy to add that as the unit is essentially graphing it in the 2D part of the screen?

Exciting times here. I wonder if they can just release the machine and then via an update add the promised features? Would help sales due to Christmas and get it in our hands sooner.
Looking forward to this machine due, in large part, to that 2D screen. Not really like an E-Trac 2D screen (and no bouncing on deep targets! lol but liked that) but love having the extra information.

Love the portability of these new machines. That could be a HUGE selling point for many when it comes to prospecting.
Curious to see how she operates.

I sold my Equinox 800 and been a bit away from detecting for a few years now. Nice seeing the forum keeping up with everything here. Might be moving back to the States from Germany, so am starting to get back into detecting via reading, lol.
From what I can gather, the Deus 2 seems to have surpassed the Equinox in most soils. I never really enjoyed running the Deus though, but I loved the portab

I almost forgot about the days of Fisher releasing a new CZ. I posted about it on Finds and I think it was Dave who jumped in and enjoyed the suggestions. Kind of felt like they were working on something, but for naught. Tough competition.
Anyway, 'd love to see "Fisher" come out with a multi freq / multi threaded IQ like platform BUT with a lower frequency set or something opti

Well, that is one perspective. But, there are many things that have books written about them, that are quite simple to use.
For me, reading about detecting is also fun, not just productive. I remember reading the Andy Sabisch

Yes, concur, there is more tonal nuance with this update. I only hunted 2 hours with it, and iron never tricked me. I dug a little but just to put into a visual what I was hearing.
You know, the think about 50 tones here that is so valuable is that you can hear adjacent targets blend into the initial hit. (Tom D talked about this form of information transmission, as opposed to a CZ I think.)

I did the update and got out for a couple of hours yesterday to try it out. Lots of modern trash and lots of coins (silver is slim). I dug a 2 bottle caps but they were very iffy signals. They were nothing like in the past (tricked me with good signals though the front coil check helps.) Seems like in that regard the update really helps.
I was running Recovery at 2 and Fe2 at 4. I did dig a hig

Anyone notice those cardboard signs (above targets I assume) with a 2D SCREEN? Funny coincidence as I just posted about missing them. Is it coming back in a future Minelab release? (i.e. E-Trac like 2D screen.

I got a Quest Q20 for my daughter and compared signals on my Equinox's targets. Not really able to get much depth on the Quest, though the size and handling is great for a 12 year old.
I wonder if the Vanquish will get pretty decent depth to make hunting together more enjoyable for her???

I've been using a TR of 2, with Iron Bias at 0. Curious what you guys think as, in most situations, my ground is littered with iron (old German ground.) And lots of iron flakes.
A typical swing is 3 or 4 iron targets. Would this be a reason to go to a TR of 3?
BTW Tom, thanks for your mention in another thread of Park 1 being better (forget your exact words) for ground with iron flakes.

Rover - Yeah, exactly what I meant. (Been a while, forget the terms.) Would be nice to have some kind of Fe number to compare soils (and then custom programs makes a bit more sense there.)
Tom-
Thanks guys!

I was quick and not clear in my writing. I was meaning a Fe number on the screen. (Not a 2D screen like the E-Trac - I know that is a sad dream, asked years ago.)
I thought maybe a more detailed ground balance number type of thing

Does this mean we are getting a more detailed GB number or are we getting a 2nd coordinate on the screen, like the E-Trac, etc. Fe numbers (minus the 2D screen)? Or neither? Thx in advance.
Either way, sounds like some major updates.

I've been having problems with the display of the forum for months now. On a Mac, I've tried using Brave, Chrome and Safari. Safari won't let me log in! The other two log me in but the display is weird. There is no label for New Posts (overall or in threads) but I can reply (right now.) The formatted display is off as well, not as nice to read.

Thanks for the comments guys re my old Golden. Wish I had tried for a repair but being in Germany made that tough (I thought.) Would have been incredible having a 9" deep Golden. Now just a 1 detector man.

I think the Golden was special for Tesoro due to the multi tones. I had a pretty new one 5 years back or so but it got like 3" depth, just terrible. I sold it at a loss.
I bet in the future you will have a machine come out that can sound like your favorite nostalgic machine and have a matching "screen" (digital) to boot! lol.
Any of you remember those Atari 2600's from

Nice thread. Thought I'd contribute in here as it has been a while and I finally got out a few times in the last week. I spent about 2.5 hours at a site that goes back 500 or so years. I pulled two more coins, one around 100 years old (not old here!) and I picked up what I think is a silver ring that might be a few hundred years old. Have to check if there is anything on the inside to help d
