Whats a good coil for hunting in the trash?
I've heard the 5" stock is good or the NEL sharpshooter? Don't hear anything about the 5x10 Teknetics coil.....
Currently I only have the 11" Stock and looking for something better for hunting trashy areas (colonial sites) (Cellar holes etc)

I think in general machines on the used market are getting cheaper and cheaper........
Just sold a G2 for $300 and an Etrac for $750 last year. Shipped, not including paypal fees..

Most have recommend 1+ for hunting in the woods when searching for deep coins and relics. Some prefer 2+. A buddy of mine said 1+ responds better on deeper signals where 2+ can give a iron grunt on iffy signals and possibly be fooled. I've also heard 1+ is faster in separating.....what mode do you use? I've also heard boost is slower and not recommended for hunting with all the time

Hey guys
Getting a Omega 8000 this friday with the 11" DD Coil. Any Tips for cellar/woods hunting? I hear Disc @ 16, Sens around 90 and 2 Tones is the recommended setup?
Thanks for any tips or tricks

call me ignorant, but I just don't understand how a 19Khz machine can be marketed as a high performance COIN/relic hunter?
To me, these are gold and relic machines #1
can it hit a high conductor at 9-11 inches.......not sure..... I would imagine its mainly targeted as an unmasker...

I've watched the Etrac drop in value $200 in a year. You could easily sell an E-trac for $950 in the used market a year ago...now $750 seems to be the going rate.....I blame the Deus for that

I agree. I was going pretty slow in the heavy iron, both targets pinpointed small and hit solid from both directions. I'll try to make a video next time I'm out to show you what I'm dealing with. Lots of iron and iffy one way hits that sound like non-ferrous, but I was focusing on the more...easy hits first with the program.

Thanks Keith, credit to you sir. I also think the 17khz helped a lot. I'm also learning not to even look at the numbers and go strictly by sound. Using the box to setup the machine and that's it.

Used Keith's Iron Man Program to squeak a V Nickle and a USMC key. Not bad for an hour at a pounded Cellar hole for me!.
I Can post a pic if someone can tell me how.

This was a great post my friend and I appreciate the time you took to write it. I think I needed this in a big way...I'm prob the worst cherry picker there is...and I have to say...using an E-trac for 2 years has spoiled me rotten. It got so bad..I would only dig 12-30 (indians) and up and prob what got me to post this question originally LOL.. my habit has been to cherry pick the good "

Wondering if this would cause issues
If I setup a 2 tone program in 8khz...
8-70 Low Tone ( I know I'm missing copper nickel indians..)
71-95 High tone
Will deeper signals get down averaged and give a low tone?

I think Gary's videos/coops and this forum sold a Deus to me for sure. I liked the CTX too, but agree, the weight was tough to endure for 4+ hours of detecting and walking around in the woods with....that plus the fact that I would never submerge the thing in water..too risky.

What settings would you guys recommend when at the heavy iron/ overloading places that are cellar holes/foundations?
Deus Fast with sens at 80ish?
React 3?
Disc 10?

nice insight lytle, I guess the advantage is plenty of places to detect over in europe...I don't know about everyone else, but for me, I'm running out of spots....and getting a machine to sniff out targets in the few spots I do have is key.

Reason I asked, is I'm been watching Gary's videos on YT and noticed he really does well with the full tones mode. It really seems to.....help seperate the ferrous from the non-ferrous. I think he runs the disc up to 5 to help reduce the iron slightly....
Now mind you, it's a on pasture in the UK.....and I know every site is different......if I was in a place loaded with iron..

What does everyone think about running the Deus with 0 Disc and Full tones?
Does the Deus need a little disc to knock out iron wraparound like other machines?

I agree, the Etrac seems best at doing that, especially with not digging foil like that. I have however dug many .22 shells that I thought were deep indians.......
