That’s rough luck to end up with a defect, but XP service (US) has been great with me, helping me to replace a coil that came in damaged, and sending me some replacement parts. I’d start a dialog to get that replaced. I reached them at xpservicecenter@gmail.com Good luck.

Great finds Steve, despite all. Manticore seems to be a detector that requires a lot of time to interpret what it’s telling you, or so I’m told.

Thought I’d share this video from Loren Lemcke’s channel for those that missed it. This is an unbiased, intelligent and well thought out evaluation of why more users aren’t conquering the Manticore right away and so many complaints about falsing, which may in fact be a positive IF you understand it. Video’s a little long, but well worth it.
Tom if you watch it, I would greatly appreciate your

IHave one of these I got in a trade from a few years back and it still works, and will take a charge, but I’m sure by now the batteries will need to be replacing soon. If you’re familiar with these, you know they were built custom for each buyer ($2k), especially built for neutral sand and deep gold. They do NOT work on mineralized beaches, but great for other non-mineralized beaches and in salt

Ready to hit the beach or tough soil conditions? Here’s the answer you need. I have two MDT8000s and can’t use them both regularly, so I’m selling one. Works great, just light signs of use. You can have your choice of the original stock 11x9” coil or the 12” beast. Very well built, this MDT 8000 is the newer of the two I have, purchased around April 2021, but I assure you this detector, coil and

I’m another member that comes here to read every day but doesn’t post often, only because someone has usually already stated sometime similar to what I would have contributed. I think if the issues with new members access can’t be fixed in several months, it probably either can’t be fixed or Wally just doesn’t have the time to maintain the forum anymore. Either way, a newer forum software and som

So don’t throw away your Nauty so fast ;-). Seems weird to me that many years ago, didn’t Nautilus have that feature as a basic function? What a great detector they were in their day especially for the relic hunters. Now it’s not even a desired feature. Wouldnt it be easy to implement if detectors had that technology so many years back?

Really looking forward to it Steve. I’ve been putting the D2 giving it a workout after IAN came visiting and although it has been good (I only nudged the D2 off the shaft twice lol), having the new shaft with the lock would be the topper. Keep us posted!

Yes, by all means, please keep the posts coming Tom. Lots of us are taking them in and learning, but unless we have something useful to add, we just don’t comment. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Great information Tom and David. I have settled on many, if not most of your settings in Beach Sensitive, including Audio Response 7 and Reactivity of 1.5, and just recently taking the discrimination down to 0 to quiet it down. I don’t mind hearing the iron with a ‘clean background’. I can run Sensitivity at around 95-97 IF I don’t try to jack up the Salt Sensitivity up to over 7 or 8 (max in my

Sure, I think I can explain. To make it easy, I don’t want to MOD a brand new Steve shaft. I’m not handy and I could figure out a way to mess up a 1/4” drill hole lol, so I would prefer not to mod my original either. The ideal for me would be to have the shaft come ready to run an antenna wire as is. You mentioned you probably wouldn’t do that at first, so I’d probably wait until I can get that c

Thanks Tom. Looking forward to seeing how this new ML fits in for the beach hunters as well. Most of the initial information has been general operations and features, and salt beach functionality and improvements usually are covered later. I know you and they thought that out well, so it’s going to be an interesting detector. I am still puzzled by the concentration of iron signal details, as 80-9

I’m no engineer Steve, and didn’t play one in the movies lol. But my thoughts are to keep polling the users of the D2 on what is the most important things to resolve with your shaft down to the least important. I don’t think most will buy it for less weight because the original shaft is pretty light already, so IMHO, they will buy it for improvements to the original design such as additional leng

Sweet looking shaft! Aerodynamic and hi tech look and it looks like you already addressed a few of the issues mentioned by D2 users. I for one, hope that your remote mount will hold the remote better than the original I got. I can pop that remote off by doing a single ‘noise cancel’ by pushing too hard. That little ‘feature’ is annoying. I bought a lockable one but I may just wait before installi

Interesting detector, exciting times for development. Tom, are we to assume that you have intellectual property in this one, or can you confirm that? If so, I see an interesting thread developing soon.

Tom,
Good to see you have a D2 in hand and giving it a go. Interesting to note that you have (very early) setting on many of the same settings I have set in my custom program. Looking forward to the ‘tweaking’ stage and want to try some of the settings that you are having success with since our conditions are so similar. A few notes from my experiences:
1. The ‘stand’ is a joke, it just doesn

Tom, yes, if I’m following you, Calabash answered it well in his video. The only connection between headphone and detector is the remote, the puck is not in the loop at all, and the coil is wireless. Haven’t tried those Gray Ghost phones, but they may be worth picking up for the days we can get wet on the east coast, but if you’re in the water or diving, remember the antenna comes back into play

Tom, the ‘remote’ is the main wireless housing that’s sits on the shaft, but the shaft is almost incidental because you can clip it on or hang it off your neck, or even put it in your pocket using the provided cover. That is where the headphone pigtail will plug into, but it adds hardly any weight, so the shaft location is most convenient. The adapter plug on the Deus II is a 5 pin and looks simi

I hadn’t even thought of that Tom. I’ll bet I would have done better using salt/ground balance in some of those places. Great observation.
