Doesn't the IRS have a copy of that tax return?

INTERESTING DATA: Just in case you don't have anything special to keep you awake at night, try this on for size:
At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler - a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh - had this to say about "The Fall of the Athenian Republic" some 2,000 years prior: THE FALL OF THE ATHENIAN

It's a Chrome problem. I deleted all cookies, etc. and it still is unformatted. But when i use Mozzilla Firefox, it looks like the old message board format.

I like the X. Just not sure I'd use the second DISC. Don't want to stop and push the trigger forward each time, either.
I would prefer, if it could be done, a second and third adjustable V-break. Would allow me to set different tones for each range.
Kind of like a 3-tone, 4-tone settings but I get to define break points.

I spend a lot less on Metal Detecting than I do on golf or when I used to fish (boat, motor, trailer, gear, bait, licenses, insurance, etc.). And it wasn't about the fish or I would have gone to the grocery store for that.
I get the same enjoyment from MD as I did fishing.

Great question Sod: Would a dime, deep enough to signal an iron VDI, mask a deeper quarter that's within its detectable VDI range?
If yes, our iron masking sites just got more "iron".
Anyone have the means of testing this? Not sure air testing would make a good model for this test.

For more info on California Fractional gold coins & tokens, this is a good link to start your research.
The one I found is the BG-432.

I've chimed in a couple of times on this forum asking about the California Fractional gold coins. Thought I'd add my two-cent (gold coin) to the thread , as well. I found a gold half dollar last year at an old fairground (Indiana) that started in the 1850's. It was the first coin I found with my G2+, the first time I used it. I'm not making that up...honest.

Question: (Probably a dumb question)
It seems today's detectors give a single response for whatever is under the coil at that moment in time, thus, masking. Is the "single response"
the problem? If it detects three items, why not report all three VDIs and three separate sounds at that moment. Of course we'd need a different interface
to see and hear all the dat

I changed my approach to people who are walking, driving, riding, etc., by me while I am metal detecting. I used to ignore them, turn away from them and felt like I was being watched and/or judged. "Just leave me alone" was
my attitude. I would purposely hunt area away from people.
But now I engage them. I wave to them. I stop and walk over and say hello to them. I introduce

Tom,
Since this thread has been revived:
What about information on the circulation of California gold coins, particularly the half and quarter dollar varieties. These are extremely small coins (smaller than a trime).
I can't imagine people carrying them in their pocket or purse.
They are hard to find and I've only seen two mentioned on MD websites.
Were they used muc

I was wondering how many folks here have found one of these coins?
These were the Half Dollar and Quarter Dollar gold coins produced by the state of California
just after the gold rush of 1849. They are a very, very small, low conductive coin about half the size
of the One Dollar US Gold coin.
The thread on "trimes" got me thinking about the factional gold coins.

What was the formula you used to calculate the number?
I would have thought two of the variables were 1) Distance from the coil and 2) size of the coil.
Power?
Gain?
Sensitivity?

I don't understand the "camo" finish on metal detectors. If you leave it in the field while returning to the car for something, it's very difficult to find later.
Is the "camo" finish supposed to make them more "ruggedly" in appearance, more "manly"?
I would have bought an F19 but I couldn't find one in "non-camo" finish.

Question about one of your finds. What is the large greenish stone like object in the right of center of second row. It's kind of pointed shape on the top edge and
flat.
I ask because I have found something similar.
Thanks

If Deus comes out with a wired unit, I will be first in line. The only thing I want wireless is the headphones. And I don't quite understand a removable control unit. Does anyone leave it home?
Anyone hunt with the headphones only? Keep it simple. Love the performance.

In 2F audio on the F75LTD-2, where would a 1850's $1 dollar coin be? In the iron grunt or higher pitch sound.
Does anyone know the break point number for the iron in 2F audio mode?

I second that, as well. My F75LTD-2 is definitely quieter but not as sensitive. Air tests are similar to those reported but in my test garden 10" coins have become if'fie (am I hearing them because I know they are there?).
The AM mode is definitely poor compared to my pre-upgrade. The FA mode is weak (half the depth of BP) and I do not see any added separation abilities.
I, too,

So which tone settings would work the best to detect the $1 gold coin?
I currently have a F75 LTD.
I'm hunting a site with a lot of old nails (1850-60s) and believe there is a good
chance for a $1 gold coin to be there. I've found five half-dimes (1832-1857),
seven shielded nickels and several Indians on three hunts. Most of the large (easy)
stuff has been hunted out over the

Not sure if this adds anything to the conversation or not, but I went back to the F75LTD Manual and sure enough it mentions some characteristic changes when going from different processes. Slower response speeds, Need to slow coil speeds. Motion All Metal Inheriting
characteristics from BP and CL modes. Copied from manual below:
