What I’m gathering to at least give a try: (making adjustments if I need too) and from what I’ve been experiencing so far
1 region all tone
Upper ferrous limit 9
Lower ferrous limit 3 or 4
Enhanced audio
Simple profile
Wide Open screen (All Metal)
ATHC or All terrain general

I know one of the biggest things you emphasize is the way the audio sounds between falsing iron and when non-ferrous is mixed in with iron. I guess that’s the thing I’m still trying to figure out. Do you have audio theme and profile settings that are specific to “carpet of nails” sites? That’s not something I’ve really seen talked about yet. Would you change those settings around based on whether

I was running upper 9 and lower 3…I haven’t been seeing anyone say they use higher than 9 on the upper but would it be better to leave the upper at that and just using a higher recovery speed? My recovery speed was set around 4 and I was still getting the falsing. This spot has different iron than some of the other spots where I wasn’t having as bad of falsing.

Thank you for your response on the thread. Your educational input is very much appreciated. Might just be me trying to process it all because I do understand to an extent. I’m still confused as to how the ferrous limits and discrimination coincide. Are they one in the same or two different things?
When you make your upper and lower ferrous limit adjustments, are you doing it on the preset sect

I have noticed that my manticore goes off when I touch sticks/rocks/the ground…I usually only have my sensitivity between 20 and 25 and ground balance is zero. Is that just a common thing? My equinox would do it too.

Tom wanted me to ask this question on this thread.
Is it advisable to do all metal with the upper and lower ferrous limits? I guess I’m still confused about what they do. They aren’t the actual discrimination? For instance, if i set the preset as upper 9 and lower 3 but then scroll over to a custom pattern, then the ferrous limits I set are no longer correct?

Tom,
Saw a post on a Facebook group where a member said they got a response from minelab in regards to the iron falsing some seem to run into. The minelab rep apparently said that when a software update is released it is supposed to have a new audio setting that should help distinguish the falsing from actual good targets. Is there truth to this?

I understand where you are coming from. I have a tendency to say more than I need too instead of what I’m really just trying to ask.
Layman’s terms- any helpful setting suggestions for taking the manticore out for the first time?

Thanks Viper! Good info.
When you say set up each search mode, are you saying if I choose enhanced audio, and simple audio profile on ATHC, then I also have to change it for ATLC, but once I do that, it will save them?

I tried going through and finding the comment, but since there has been a little more time, it might be good to see an updated answer. I managed to get a manticore. UPS dropped it off today. This weekend I’m going to be going to a spot me and some friends have hit for years. This is the definition of a testing grounds for new detectors. Not much for modern trash, but there are some spots that hav

Well of course as soon as I start contemplating a different machine, I get a message this morning that one manticore was in stock at the dealer I was on a waiting list for. Decided to jump on it

Sorry, my questions were just around the Deus 2. I was just saying that I was contemplating the manticore but I’m tired of minelabs wait lists so Im just considering getting the Deus 2 as I don’t think I’d be disappointed.

Have been considering the minelab manticore but I did enjoy using my original Deus and with all the backorder stuff with the manticore I might buy the Deus 2.
Couple questions though
1) has anyone used the bone induction headset and does it work well? Can you get a deal with those headphones and over the ear?
2) is there much chatter when two Deus users are near each other? (When runni

I feel like for the price of the detector, you shouldn’t have to buy extras to improve battery life unless you were exceeding a full days worth of detecting. Even if you are running it at max power, 6 1/2 hours seems unfortunate. If conditions allowed, I feel like anyone would want to run it that way their whole hunt. If it was more like 8-10, I feel that would be better. I guess my next questio

I’m intrigued about the manticore but then I see things about the aforementioned CTX replacement and it makes me wonder if I should just wait. How far out you think we still are on seeing it?

I know you said that the Coiltek was working fine, but are you positive that crack isn’t playing a role in how it’s performing? Even if water didn’t get into it can is still be affected?

Ah okay, makes sense. I know a lot of people in the UK have been getting theirs. Best of luck to you when you get it!

Was a little surprised to not see more discussed about the new Coiltek coils. I usually buy first, ask questions later when it comes to detecting gear, to no fault of anyone else. I preordered the 10x5 coil in hopes of having just a little more coverage than the 6” and separation than the stock coil. Even though the real test will be when I use it, I am curious if any of you guys that have been a
