Received the V8" coil today and tried it for an hour before getting rained off and I didn't have the box cover!
It's a well constructed coil: their small coils are well built anyway: really tough cable: no room for a nut so you 'have to' use the supplied 'male / female bolt that causes creep...
Believe it or not but there is coil creep with the 8

Good...
Think you'll like it.
Give it a bit of time and read my "Review" about it on here and see if you concur on the coil's amazing ability to Disc outside the footprint and the audio clues it gives.
Ain't seen anything like it - ever.

Magnetic response still very strong.
Typically nails 'disintegrate' to a wet mush and are non-magnetic / non-responsive.
When a nail is made with 'extra' heavy content make up, disintegration can take many years longer and are very magnetic = strong signals

Richard @ Backwoods got back to me: no stock of 8"s
His Distributor has no information.
Seems "Pro Packs" are taking all 8" inventory.
Confirms parts shortage heard from an "in the know person" three weeks ago!

I know how much you like the "Quest" ghound but I won't be holding my breadth...I refused to 'contract' Field Test that brand for the Chinese maker a few years ago. (didn't he end up in a law suit?)
They did have a good pin pointer though, based on the "White's Bullseye" build..."Woodsman or Frontierman", named something like that...no lon

Supply chain issues - China - says a lot.
They're in a better position than others also experiencing shortages of components as a lot of their platform is Europe & Eastern Europe sourced.
They've caught up now after "a worrying" period.
Even shipping their new 8" x 6" small compact coil tested, manufactured in 'double quick time!'

It's absolutely an amazing 'Feature List' for a sub 300 cost detector!
Such a pity it sounds like 'a failing hand whisk' from the kitchen!
Q. is: what are they gonna do next and [ how much ] can they "Ask" for it!
Thinking shot foot!

No, I don't think you'd regret.
Unless you know at this point you really "think you need / want" an 800
I bought a 600 and wrote a "Review" and it's on this site if you'd like to have a read... I'd be interested to hear your thoughts afterwards...

Chris,
Thanks for your opinion. Same as mine. Pity it's heavy. I find it strange not many are saying it?
Yes, the V8" should be a breeze. Most every video user with the 8" likes it. My 'coil balance' tests certainly showed a 9" CC on a shorter lower rod to be 'Perfect' (if you can actually obtain perfection)
The main reason I didn't go for the

88junior,
i'm "guessing" the V10" [ might be ] a tad nosey as well?
Spent a couple hours assembling various other Lower Rods and other Coils onto "Vanquish" and it was a real surprise.
Even an old Minelab "Coinsearch 8" on a longer than Vanquish lower rod was 'heavy!' The wrist still had [ to lift ] the Vanquish

"My thanks to NASA Tom for allowing me space here to put up my thoughts on various detecting equipment.
I've been writing for 'Treasure Hunting' publications for many years and I believe my first article was published as far back as 1982 or 1983, about a "Fisher 1220-X" model and the General M

Does anyone now have a "Vanquish" that didn't when this Thread started?
Any thoughts?
Which 'Pack' did you buy?
How's the performance?
How's the 'wireless' working? Anyone buy an after-market wireless set up..."Bose", "Sony", "Skull Candy?"...

Well done!
Good choice and future 'strategy!'
That new 8" coil wil be fantastic for the "X"
I must admit to have been a tad down at heel not being a 'round' standard shape!
However, if it retains that "Rx" discrimination trick and that 2"-3" push pull bottle cap rejection, then it'll be the ultimate ' coin shooter' for

Congratulations on the 'goldie!' Lovely!
The 'latch', is from a wooden chest, lock box, money/travel chest. I've found one before. It may have been 'one of two' latches on L & R sides or, part of a 'double attachment' swivel action possibly from the right side only?
Hope this helps?

Few summers back, during a Field Test Review that I was compiling, I went to a local park and used that '70's style "coin shooting recovery", technique using a long thin screwdriver and a wide blade prise up paint tin opener!
It worked well!
The deepest targets were trash at the 6" mark and were a tad difficult to prise up without breaking the grass top level. Broken gl

Thanks for the video. I like seeing the "Van" in action!
But jeez...you scared me with those holes!!!
Ain't no need to cut out such BIG plugs!!!

Hi Hastings,
That's a good video! Thanks for sharing!
Like the way it just "moves along...no BS"...showing just what we want to see and more importantly, Hear!
It's after putting a slight negative into my rather 'pre-excitory' thoughts on acquiring one? All those 'iron tones',
BUT the huge thing was, nearly all were small tiny bits of non-ferrous

Kev,
The reason I'm not talking about it is, I can't get one!
Limited stocks eeked out to Distributors / Dealers...and I used work for Minelab!!!
Been trying since well before Christmas, and was told, "They've not shipped yet!"
Yes, they are / were available in "Dick's Sporting Goods" and several were lucky to buy there and use them and put up so

Similar size silver's this side of 'the pond' too!
"Three pence" coins and what were called "Three Halfpence", even smaller again!
"Maundy Set", as well comprise of 4d, 3d, 2d and a 1"
Have only ever had the "3d", either Victorian 1837-1901, or Edward VII 1901-10, and George V 1910-36

Yes, there [ could be ] a trade-off when it comes to how it 'Ground Balances' - is it in 'Normal ground balance or Beach ground balance?
If in Beach GB, then this operates very differently t
