I’m talking in general. How to make iron sound like iron and not a non-ferrous target. Whether I was in “all-metal” or disc mode on the equinox, iron objects gave an iron tone / grunt. Thank you Tom. What would be the correct settings / adjustments to make nails and misc iron junk sound like iron grunts? My thoughts are to run the Manticore wide open (no disc) like I did with the Equinox. Question for TomD: On the Equinox 900 max sensitivity is 28. Is this an extra "punch'" or "boost" in sensitivity? Or is it equal to the sensitivity of the 700 with finer tuning? Tom, I have never GB'd in multi-frequency when I changed TRR speed but I will start this hunting season. What seems like such "small adjustments / increments" in TRR speed truly adds up to depth loss. I am learning and understanding more concerning TRR speed. Thank you. I find with a recovery of 2 there seems to be a "lag" between the time a scan over a target and hear the audio. No matter coil scan speed, I can not get the two to "line up" I used a recovery of 3 several times last year and this seems the lowest I can go where things "line up" for me. D&P, I ran a ton of different settings on the Equinox 800 when I first received it. I was having "fun" playing with the different settings. I learned many things about the Equinox but I was using much faster of everything for settings. The biggest eye opener is when TomD mentioned to run F2-0 and use a slow recovery speed. TomD - Thank you for the analogy! Now I understand in more detail how EMI cripples performance. Cellphones question: if I have my phone on me, can performance of the detector suffer effects of EMI even if my cellphone is in airplane mode or completely shut off ? Hi Tom, I have been meaning to ask for some time what the "various stability enhancements" are and do they translate over into Multi Mode? If they do, what am I missing that could possibly benefit me? Also when I upgrade to 3.0 I noticed the audio didn't sound as "sharp" or "distinct" as it was with the software previous to the 3.0. Compared to other forums I have been on, this one (by far) has the most usable technical information. When I want to learn about metal detectors, this website is my # 1 destination.
