Hopefully the no see ums won't be out...they ate me alive this morning. I hunted for like 20 mins and had to call it a day.

Have your beach settings changed from the 600/800 to the 700/900?
I've got about 15 hrs now on my 700 and have noticed that I have to be in Beach 2 on the wet sand whereas on my 600, Beach 1 worked great. I am getting lots of falsing on beach 1 as soon as I get the high tide line. Otherwise my other settings have remained the same except for my tone (dP).

Adam.......... the thing about dp (and Prospecting Audio on Manticore) in wet-salt.... is............. you can easily tell the audio aberrations of the conditions of the beach. This.................in turn................. then allows you to run Sens a point or 2 higher on the unit. THIS is where the extra performance is gained! (And fairly easily!).
Absolutely! I can't wait

Beach 1. I am going to head to the beach later this morning when the tide gets lower to see how the machines compare in the wet sand. I'

Did an air test comparing my 600 vs 700. Thought it was pretty interesting when looking at the new dP tone. This is definitely going to be a big advantage for us beach hunters...
Settings for the air test - 20 Sensitivity, 0 Iron bias, 2 Recovery speed (this is 4 on the 800). These are the settings I hunt with. The only thing I ever change is my sensitivity which hovers from 19-23.

I am the crazy person that can (irrefutably/definitively) tell you that a:
EQX-900 with stock 11" coil will ascertain a Nickel in wet-salt to 13.8" deep.
Manticore with 8" M8 coil will ascertain a Nickel in wet-salt to 14.0" deep.
Both units: apples-to-apples configured.
We should have so much of this type of data it should make our heads explode but I fee

dp? Like a pitch setting?
Have you actually used any of these machines?
From NASA-Tom:

This 'dp' Depth Audio is a all metal type of audio......virtually identical to Manticore's Prospecting Audio. For the serious wet-salt beach hunter........ it's a game-changer in regards to allowing higher Sens settings in the wet-salt.........audibly

There are advantages to the TID scale and may be more stable than the new series
I am a beep and dig detectorist . I dig everything above 1 so I don't really use the numbers at all.

get a used Equinox 800
I would assume with the 700/900 dP setting that the 600/800 shouldn't even really be recommended anymore...especially for the beach. dP should be

If you have any extra coils for the Equinox that would be the logical way to go.
Yea if I had coils it would be Nox hands down. As far as price they are only about $90 difference between the legend and 700. I know the Nox works well on the beach...but I guess Im just not sure if the legend is worse, as good, or better...

Currently in the market for a new machine and considering the legend, or Nox 700 or 900. Current machine is a equinox 600 that's served me well for 5 years. My oldest wants to start detecting with me so I am giving it to him and getting myself a new one.
I am a saltwater beach hunter only in NC. The equinox 600 was fine, the 800 would have added nothing to my style of hunting. I assume t

Oh man that's terrible but glad that he is OK. Hypothermia is no joke and can happen fast. I surf all winter and that cold water can really trick you. I've seen healthy 18 yr olds get hypothermia.
The thing about the cold water with the wetsuit on is that you don't feel cold and notice just how cold you were until you are out of the water trying to get warm and realize wow my l

I am curious to see this as well. That video about sold me though. Wife and I are saving for a new house so I am trying not to dip into the pot for this machine

Just wanted to follow up...
My friend ended up getting the 440. It will be nice to have someone to detect with now! And I am really curious to see how it compares to my Nox.

Thanks for the responses. I told him to get the Vanquish 440. It looks like the 340 has no pinpoint, which is needed on the beach, and the 540 is probably out of his price range. Fingers crossed he makes the purchase because I would love to have someone to hunt with!

Hey all - Got a buddy who is interested in detecting (hopefully a new detecting partner if all goes well as he tends to get into hobbies and take them seriously!). My first recommendation was an equinox but he doesn't want to invest $600 into a detector just yet. We live at the beach, so he would be hunting dry/wetsand exclusively. Other than being non-waterproof, it looks like the Vanquish

Really curious to see how it does on the beach and compares to the nox. The website seems to focus mostly on land hunting and doesn't provide a lot of detail.

You can come test it in NC if you need some salt water!
Loving the email updates. I am really excited to see what this thing can do.

Well lets add that that one to the mix too! If anyone has compared any of these let me know.

Hey all,
My wife and I think our oldest is finally ready to start to hunt with dad! He has asked to go several times and I think he would really enjoy his own machine! I ONLY hunt saltwater beaches...and having said that I am NOT buying him a saltwater machine haha rather one that will do ok on the dry sand. This is for a 9 yr old and his 6 and 4 yr old brothers might be handling it too so I

I assume most diggers just need wet sand/shallow water. Nothing above their heads. I go waist high at most. Cost is going to be the biggest factor for me. I am not paying 3-4x more than a nox.

What they need is an upgraded Nox to replace the CTX/Etrac. It will have better ID, GPS, etc. - all the bells the whistles I don't need as a beach hunter but other types of hunters do.

Excited by all of these updates. Can't wait to see a release date. Just wish it would of been this spring. I think Fisher knows this needs to be done right, no rush job. The CZ21 was a beast compared to the Excal - just a tank. Let's hope that continues with the AQ.

I am pretty happy with the nox. I don't think a new upgraded version would sell me unless it got smaller gold, was deeper, and/or got rid of the tones in favor for the sounds of the excal (I hate tones of the nox/ctx). I could care less about more features. In fact, if the excal was lighter and didn't break it would be my go to machine right now. I think the Excal has been my favorite m
