I don't have a Nokta/Makro anymore. No good reason as to why.
But I'm always super impressed with how they have always addressed their customers. I don't know of any other company that handles customer relations and concerns the way they do, and it's awesome in my opinion. I'll have to get another soon.

Looking for some advice fellas. Long time T2 Classic user here. I have been reading and researching all about the Equinox detectors the last few days and would like to try one out.
I found a fair deal on a used 600 locally and am strongly considering it. I never hunt gold on purpose, and never detect near saltwater. Mostly relics in iron infested sites and old coins in parks (like most people

I have the stock coil, and the NEL Sharpshooter.
I've had my T2 for years and I keep the Sharpshooter on it 100% of the time. It seems to get very near the same depth as the stock coil, and I think it pinpoints better. Our dirt here is red in Alabama, and lights up the bars on my mineral meter pretty well. If you have great soil, you may see a depth difference but for me in my dirt I don&

I tried to sell my Omega 8000 before the 8500 was to be released. I basically gave it away, because everybody was waiting for the magic 8500. And then the 8500 turned o

When the news of the success of Makro/Nokta reaches Arizona, the great beast that lives there will be awakened, and it will be out with a vengeance!
That beast is.......
TEEEESSSSSSOOOOOOORRRRRROOOOOO!!!!
Yall better look out, they already came out with a new coil.. The beast is already awakened
I love Tesoro, but I couldn't help it.

Any old beat up ratty lookin Tesoro with a hot 9 volt will lay a hurting on a lot of "modern" machines. When my old Bandido II with the brown donut coil, trumped my Nokta Fors CoRe with the little OOR coil, on some "in the test garden" challenges, I sold it and never missed it. The Nokta was a little deeper, and had a headlight on it. That's about it.
It's a lot

Sounds like every sight I find! I go in thinking: This is gonna be great!
I come out thinking: Can't believe I got skunked again, LOL.
I'm over in Bama, and I can relate to digging up relics from the poor "old" South. A lot of these old houses that are gone now were really poor folks. They didn't lose much of interest it seems.
One thing about my area, is most of

Wish I had the funds.
I'm sure you could use a nice high end air rifle and a little cash for a trade right? I'll even drive up and meet you. And mow your grass.
Deal?
Seriously, this should be gone at this price. Hope you sell it soon or I'm gonna have to quit stopping in here!

I have a been a Polaris tech for 2 years now. The dealer I work at also sells Kawasaki and Yamaha.
I'm pleading the fifth.
Hope it gets you out into the good stuff to dig up some great finds. Congrats on the new rig!

Have you tried any kind of concentric coil at all?
I think a Tejon, with a 5.75 concentric coil, and a lot of patience may be worth a try. I've never really had EMI problems with the little Tesoro concentrics.
But you have your requirements, so I understand that.

Get Dave on the payroll over at Tesoro. I'm ready to see them come back from the dead and whip some ___.
I like the Dave J. machines a lot too. My Omega was a favorite of mine, and I foolishly sold it.

I really, really want to try one of these, but after losing my @$$ trying to sell my last Nokta, I may have to wait for the next model to come out. Shouldn't take long lol...
I'll be watching the reports with enthusiasm. Keep us posted guys!

If it is just an April Fool's joke, I think it's pretty neat to see a company show that it has a sense of humor. Especially with certain companies spitting out so many new detectors at once here lately, and White's finally releasing ONE new detector lol..
I can't take any new product releases too seriously these days. Hell I can't afford whatever it is, so it doesn

Not old, not valuable. But it is one of my cooler finds to me. Found it in a blanket of nails and steel soup can lids in an old CCC camp in North AL. My junky old Tesoro did me proud that day!

One thing to note about the Racer, is that when you turn it on, it automatically starts up at near max Sens with a really high GB number. So they go nuts when first turned on, especially inside. But as mentioned, nobody hunts inside. Once adjusted for actual hunting they are pretty darn stable.
Other than the ability to bleed/blend audio tones together (which really helps you identify iron fro

I have a Predator Raptor for fine turf work. But most of the time I use a Mini Shovel I bought at Lowes for 10 bucks. I spent about 30 minutes with a cut off wheel and a file and it's perfect. The teeth I file in mine can literally saw. I've cut a 2 inch sapling down before pretty easily. Cutting roots is just a single push and it's done.
The Predator shovels are very nice, and

The guy in the BMW was swinging a Bounty Hunter in case he had to wrap it around somebody's head.
A lot of places I hunt are like that. I carry a pretty gnarly and scary sharp homemade shovel........and the laziest Australian Cattle Dog you've ever seen hahaha. He does keep an eye out for me while I'm detecting.
In my town, it seems like the "good part of town" and

If dealing with mostly iron nails and ferrous junk, a Tesoro would be very tough to beat. I have a Nokta Core and my 1997 Tesoro Bandido II blows it out of the water when testing with a nail next to a coin. Yes, even when using the famed "OOR" little coil on the Nokta, VS the stock 8" Chocolate Donut coil on the Tesoro. The nokta is deeper though.
If it were me, I wouldn't

It may be made from moon glitter for all I know, but it can sure give a detector a hard time. Plus, "red clay" is a lot easier for us simple southern folks to say than "ultisol soil".

That is a great thread, thanks for showing it to us! I was detecting today with my Nokta Fors Core and noting the "magnetic mineralization level" on the display. Never really noticed it or knew what it was till a few days ago. But hey, its on the box under my arm I never even look at that screen while I'm swingin haha
Anyways, in North AL we have red clay soil in most places. He

Tesoro must not play the "flagship" card, lol! All theirs work about the same, aside from the two TID machines. So are they all flagships? Or none of them?
I really like Tesoros and own a couple, just making fun... They are a unique company in the metal detector market it seems.
Interesting topic, I guess it can be viewed as a certain machine from each person's perspective.

I have a few hobbies that are like that. Sometimes learning the "ins and outs" of the tools you use to get something done, is as fun as the hobby itself.
For example, I mainly hunt with airguns. There are spring piston powered guns, and precharged high pressure air powered ones. And each make and model can shoot a lot differently. So you gotta try em all! LOL
And fly fishing is a

Look into the Teknetics Omega 8000 if you are on a budget. Great machine for coins, and pretty darn good for relics too. It has all the right features (tones, notch, pushbutton GB with the abiltiy to override) without being very hard to use. The ID is very accurate at reasonable depths too. I had one and sold it to buy a Fors Core, and miss it dearly for coinshooting. Light, fast, easy to use, fa
