In about 1978, when I was 13 or 14 years old, I read a small article in Numismatic News which said that silver coins were still circulating in Hawaii due to Japanese tourists bringing them back and spending them. When my parents went to Hawaii shortly thereafter, I asked my father to bring me back some coins. He wasn't exactly thrilled with this request, back in the days before luggage had

The Tarsacci needs better tones, or, programmable tones. When I'm detecting a silver coin, I want a high tone, not a blurp.

During the last ten years, I have found over 500 silver coins in old parks and baseball diamonds. I mainly use an Etrac, although I also have an Equinox for finding masked coins.
Over the years, I have observed what I think is a strange pattern. It is not unusual that I will hunt an old park with four or more baseball diamonds, and only one small area in only one of the baseball diamonds wil

Agreed on the Vanquish: great performance in mild soil, better ergonomics than Equinox, and inexpensive enough to leave in the car all the time without a worry.

I'm sure that you can find the CD on eBay if you really have your heart set on it. I couldn't tell you how many of those CDs I have dumped on eBay over the years.

I wouldn't worry about the missing Xchange CD. It's easy enough to create a discrimination pattern with the keypad.
In my experience, many new Etrac users wrongly focus on finding a magic discrimination pattern and settings. They will use the CD to load other people's discrimination patterns and settings into their machine and then wait for the magic to happen. Unfortunatel

I have been using a Minelab Etrac as my primary detector for deep silver coins over the last ten years. Despite being one of the earliest owners of an Equinox, and having taken favorable notice of the Manticore, I expect that I may be relying on Etracs for many years to come.
For this reason, I would like to acquire a couple of very late production Etracs with the idea of them remaining opera

This is very interesting for those of us with an engineering background who are not EEs. Would you mind showing your calculations? I suspect the math is not complicated, but, do not know which equations or laws you are using. If it's too much to post, please PM me. Thank you.

You don't mention the Vanquish 440 or 540, which are ergonomically superior to the Equinox and give comparable performance in all but the most challenging soils and sites.

Tom, you have a unique writing style; but, I've never heard you paraphrase 70s song lyrics before, lol.

Not ready to give up my Etrac either. I have had an Equinox since February 2018 and rarely use it. The Etrac is much better for finding deep silver.

I have an extra Tarsacci with the 9 x 11 coil that I would like to sell. I bought a his and hers pair of Tarsaccis and no longer need the hers, lol. The detector includes the factory backpack, headphones, extra battery, extra coil covers, and the charger. The machine has barely been used and has never been used in water. $1000, photos available upon request. I would consider an Etrac, Equino

I briefly owned a Deus several years ago. I found it completely unsuited for silver coin hunting. It would give a high tone signal on crown caps and steel washers regardless of the discrimination pattern. I'd like to know if the SMF version has overcome this problem.

I have been using an Etrac as my primary detector since 2013. I hunt for silver coins in old parks and yards. I have tried many other detectors and consider the Etrac to be the best machine for this kind of hunting, especially when equipped with a Sunray X-1 probe. I have owned an Equinox 600 since February 2018, and the Equinox rarely gets used.
My Equinox is used as a cleanup machine to

I suspect very few purchasers of the Equinox 800 care about Prospecting Mode. I cared so little about Prospecting Mode that I bought an

That price is comparable to an Equinox 600. I would need a compelling reason to buy this machine,

I'm not going to get in the way of Tom making a sale; however, if anybody else wants an Impact, I have a very clean one along with some accessories, including the oversize coil.
