I'd been using a Lesche for the last 10 yrs.
I picked up one of the Radius Root Slayer trowels earlier this year and haven't used my Lesche since.

I'm gonna put on my foil hat and keep a sharp eye out for more conspiracies now.

I think that statement sums it up Pretty well!
Most any decent metal detector will "detect" gold coins in avg ground conditions. It's making the decision to dig the target that fa

I GOLF, I hunt, I fish, I enjoy shooting sports, I kayak, and oh yeah, I metal detect too.
It's called enjoying life. Everyone has their own ways to do it. I don't knock any of them. If it gets you some fresh air, a little exercise, and you enjoy it, it's all good!

Rick,
If you google "metal detecting in mi state parks" you will find a VERY THOROUGH listing of what is allowed in Michigan State Parks by the DNR. It varies from park to park. In some it's prohibited, some partially open to detecting, others completely open to detecting.
You will have clear guidelines, including maps outlining where it's allowed. You can print the ind

Keep the #4 spot open until after First Texas puts a couple of their new machines on the market. You never know if one could/will be #4?
I don't think your ability to enjoy some quality detecting will suffer in the meantime with what you have.

All my detectors, except my GMT, have a variety of tone options and I too was apprehensive about not having what I had become accustomed to.
It gives the usual low (base) tone for the ferrous, and a true VCO modulated audio for the no

I'm pretty happy with mine Dan.
It does very well in sites heavy with iron. At 19KHz it obviously hits very well on the lower conductors, yet is still pretty good on the higher range stuff.
I just recently picked up a NEL 12"x13" Tornado coil for mine for a little better coverage on freshwater beaches and sports fields etc. I haven't tried it at the beach yet, but the

I think the whole dynamic of features and subsequent cost has changed dramatically in the last several yrs. Purchasers are getting more bang for their buck.
In another thread some time ago lytle78 touched on it. There is much more competition among metal detector manufacturers. In a more competitive market you're seeing some pretty good feature laden detectors being sold for much less.

Over the yrs, I've changed my thoughts on shelling out $$$ just to have the latest/greatest detector. I could afford most any, but it's not about the money. I look for a machine that I feel will best fit my desires within my world of detecting.
I bought my CTX as a pre-retirement gift a couple yrs before retirement. At that time I thought it would be my last detector purchase unti

Another good question is, at what point, if not already, will the Nox prices be reduced with the usual dealer discounts?
Obviously anyone who just had to have one early on, and got on the "pre-order" list was paying full MSRP. Once the market saturates with them, the normal dealer discouts begin.
I got my CTX in 2013 about a yr after introduction, they were still a hot item, but

FBS2, Smartfind2, Target trace provide unmatched visual target information.
FE-CO (Ferrous-Conductive) target ID which IMO. provide MUCH better target ID than two number conductive only systems.
EASILY removed/replaced LI-Ion battery.
Onboard GPS which allows the ability to trace your movement, plus record location/type of find. (It's the thing I thought I would use least also, but I hav

If there is a tracking number, and it showed a confirmed delivery, yet you have no item, the FIRST step should always be with the delivery service.
They ALL have handheld computers that scan the barcoded tracking number and record date, time, and even GPS location at the time the item was scanned as delivered.
If through inquiry with the delivery service, it is verified as being scanned/del

PLUS ONE, on the idea that Whites could/should have continued development/tweaking of the V3i.
There was a lot of innovation in that design that could have been improved upon.

Just pullin your chain a bit Cc.
I believe Nokta/Makro has been the leader in company communications with, and, response to customer input for a while now.
While not a leader in new technology, they have responded to customers in useful configuration of current tech into their machines, much to the liking of the consumer, in their end products.

YIKES!!!
Lots of folks haven't even received their most bestest detector EVER, that's gonna obsolete everything else, (AKA Equinox).
It was delivered from the sky (via parachute) like a divine gift.
Now, we've gotta hold our collective breaths and sit on the edge of our seats in anticipation of the NEXT most bestest detector EVER. AGAIN?!?! ALREADY!

I agree with your assessment Badger. Coil covers are made of inert materials, electrically speaking, so no loss of depth should occur as to signal blockage from the cover itself.

I totally agree with your point Tom_in_CA.
If anyone is looking for those featherweight earing studs or teenie-weenie chains lower your discrimination, or better yet go to all metal, as you said, if you're willing to dredge through mountains of foil chaff.
Sometimes we have to simply pick a location where the effort/reward ratio is more in our favor.

I'm kinda curious.
Most opinions seem generally favorable.
With a yes or no, has it crossed that threshold of "obsoleting" your other detectors?

Wow, some of you guys are brutal!
The latest version of the GMT is one of my current detectors.
There is nothing contained in that video that suggests to me, let alone would make me conclude that it is just a repackaged GMT.
It's just a typical promo video attempting to accentuate it's abilities without revealing any specifics. We saw them of the Nox too, along with the para
