Tom, I just put much more faith in tests that are conducted under the very same conditions that we hunt. "Train as you fight"....I've seen far too many spurious results from tests conducted under artificial conditions.
Again, just the personal view from my foxhole...

I've run numerous separation tests over the years and one thing is most apparent....at least to me....air testing separation capabilities borders on a waste of time...for the most part.
Most recently, I successfully separated good targets from bad using the Deus II in Beach Sensitive during an air test i.e.targets were exposed on the ground with approximately 1 inch separation. When I bur

When Steve finishes this rod, it will be the best Deus rod on the market. How do I know this you ask? I know Steve and have 3 of his rods...2 for the EQX and 1 for my scoop. Top of the line all the way and when the Deus rod is available, I'll have 2 of those as well.

Why waterproof for me? I live in Florida and throughout the summer we get afternoon rains...routinely and I like not having to worry about my equipment getting wet. Secondly, I hunt our beaches and although I don't go in the water to any great depth these days, the inadvertent wave or dropped detector won't bother me like it did when I owned a Safari. Lastly, ours is an outdoor sport
