I would love to see a comparison of these machines in their submerged salt water settings - "Surf & Sea Water" for the Manticore vs "Dive" for Deus 2!

NASA Tom,
I am anxiously awaiting any performance data that you or anyone else has on the Manticore in "Surf & Sea Water" mode. I have seen plenty of videos showing the Deus 2 and Manticore out performing the Excalibur 2 in dry and wet salt sand, but as I am mostly a water hunter I am VERY interested in the in water performance of all of these machines vs the Excalibur 2! I hav

I was watching this video too and it was impressive considering the EMI. One thing I was wondering, I noticed that he had a cell phone attached to a chest mount that he was using to respond to viewers of his live feed while using the detector. Wouldn't the cell phone possibly contribute to the EMI and or interference that he was having with the Manticore? Or would the noise cancel feature

On the topic of the iron falsing videos by Calabash, the main thing that has me scratching my head is that in almost EVERY instance he starts digging a target that he claims to be iron, he never actually pulls the target out of the ground.... I would have liked to have seen what the actual target was that was falsing instead of him just filling the plug back in. At the very least, remove the fa

NASA Tom, have you done any in water beach testing yet with the Manticore? One gripe I had with my Equinox 800 was that when using it in salt water I had to lower the sensitivity quite a bit to keep it from being overly chatty. Curious how the Manticore behaves in the wash / 1st drop off area on the beach? For water hunting now I strictly use my Excalibur 2, wondering how it compares to to the

Tom,
Just curious, did you contribute to any of the development of the Manticore? Any idea if existing Equinox headphones will work with the Manticore?

That was a great test, however I could not see what mode the 800 was in... He displayed the settings, but was the 800 in field 1, 2, beach 1, 2...?

Very curious how this will perform with the 11" coil... Will it be as quiet and stable as the 9" coil in the wash area? I know the Excal with the smaller coil runs quieter than the 10" coil in this area. I have to say, that gold chain performance has me seriously looking at this thing...

I am very interested in the Tarsacci, but what about the waterproof rating? Most of my hunting lately has been east coast Florida beaches in waist to chest deep water using my Excalibur 2. I already drowned 2 Equinox's and have retired the Nox to shore line duty only...

For me, I am only a beach hunter. Started off mostly in the dry / wet sand, but now I find myself mostly hunting in waist to chest deep water on the East coast of Florida. I have drowned 2 Equinox 800's so far. I have a Tesoro Sand Shark which performs beautifully in the water, but it cant see the smaller gold that the Equinox can. I have also found certain beaches with heavy mineralizat

Take this with a grain of salt, this guy on Facebook from the UK has been posting things like this since June on the Minelab CTX 3030 page:

I am considering buying a CTX 3030 in the very near future, but.... I have heard rumblings that early 2021 there may be some new products on the market... Just wondering if anyone else heard anything similar - I would hate to get a 3030 if a "4040"? is right around the corner...???

Dew - how long are you able to hunt in chest deep water with the MDT-8000? I am considering getting an Excalibur 2 for water hunting, but I would certainly consider other options as I have already drowned 2 Equinox's...

This is torture, Equinox control heads are on back order and my Sand Shark is still out for repairs. The Shark may be fixed by this coming weekend (complete headphone cable replacement). No detecting for me for nearly a month now....

Dew & CT, thanks for the feedback - If I sell my Nox and all accessories, I would still need to come up with close to $400 just to buy the Excal. And like you said, i'm sure I would want a straight shaft, PP mod, knob guard, etc... Once I get the 800 back, I would still have over 1 1/2 years of warranty left which factors into the decision. I dont expect to get my 800 back for another

I have had my Equinox 800 for almost 1 1/2 years now. I am a beach hunter, and I would say I do about 60% out of water, 40% in water hunting. I have not had any problems with the 800 until about 2 weeks ago, when I was hunting at Fort Myers beach. I had it in chest deep water for about 5 hours when water got behind the LCD and it failed. I sent it in for warranty repairs, and in the mean time

I am leaning towards this NASA-Tom, my local dealer has one for $500, however with the 15% military discount I can get a brand new 600 for about $550. Its a little more than I want to spend at the moment, but may be the best for me in the long run.

My Equinox 800 is out for repairs, my Tesoro Sand Shark also bit the dust, and now I find myself desperately needing a backup beach detector. While I do on occasion water hunt (chest deep max), I mostly hunt dry and wet sand. I am trying to decide between the Vanquish 440 or the Simplex. Which do you think would be a better beach detector? I am very familiar with the Equinox, so I am leaning

Can anyone recommend a repair center that I can possibly send my Sand Shark to? It looks like the headphone cable close to the control box has chaffed to the point where I can see an exposed wire, and I fear salt water may have gotten into the control box. I just put fresh batteries in it and tried to fire it up, and I get nothing at all. The Sand Shark is my backup detector, my Equinox 800 was

Tom- Great stuff sir! As a Florida beach hunter mainly using the 15" coil, does your TRR setting of 3-4 mainly apply to the stock coil, or would that also apply to the 15"?
I have been using F2 at 0 since the update, and have really grown to like it.. I would be interested in a negative setting!
