LIDAR maps may help along with close ground level observations with any vegetation closely cropped now that it is dormant. You could also use a probe to confirm suspect areas. I don't think it would be disrespectful given the motive.

And fun. And informative. Snobby people are neither.
Some of the older units have useful features more modern ones do not, or are hidden & not User adjustable. All in all, I think we are currently living in the "Golden Age" of detectors. It's a good thing because the "Golden Age" of loaded virgin sites will never return.

Deep Tech has announced a soon to be released 5 kHz detector called the ABYSS. It comes stock with a new design 14" coil. It looks to be single Disc, but if it will punch minerals like the X and other Vista series it will be a good addition for folks needing depth on higher conductors & larger relics.

cjc, it is a very interesting detector. Very straight forward on the surface, turn on & go if you want. But like the Legend, it is very good with default settings AND has the adjustability to really push the performance to a higher level. It is also like the Tarsacci MDT 8000. Not in how it operates, but in that there is something special & different going on behind the scenes. And like

sanjuro, What I have observed in testing & hunting with the Versa running the introductory V1.71 software is in mild to medium mineralized soil, the Versa and the Legend are very close when both are set to similar settings. They can both be very deep machines. In higher Maghemite soils the Versa gave slightly better target response at depth IF you adjusted the Hot Rock filter into the Positi

Rutus released new software for the Versa & I updated my unit Saturday 12/02. The Wi Fi update process was very easy & efficient. The new software is NC, version 2.44. The NC stands for New Concept, The detector's behavior & performance in Iron is on a different level than before. It is hard for me to gage the level of improvement yet. The Versa's iron handling & unmaski

Thank you for Posting the video and THANK YOU for having English sub titles.
These are very welcome improvements. I will be updating my unit ASAP. The improved performance in mineralized soil & Audio adjustability are particularly appreciated. The Versa has been very impressive with V1.71 software. I am excited to see what the new NC software will do on my sites.

I have been Previewing my Posts, then hitting the Post message button. When the Error comes up, I just close the entire Web page with the Error showing. My Post will be displayed just one time when I get back on the site late. Same for Logging out, just Exit & it works. Cumbersome though.

The MXT Users Manual is very informative & useful. The book, "MXT Edge" is very good reading for in depth application of MXT specific & general detector knowledge.

I hope he understands that those who have taken the time to really use & try to understand/unlock the Tarsacci's potential really want him to succeed in his efforts.

The Ground Tracking on the MXT series works very well & is especially easy to monitor in Relic's Mixed mode. But, like any GB tracking system it will get confused in dense iron trash & you will lose stability. Relic mode is what I use most all the time with my MXT. In heavy iron I will get a good GB on a clean spot & Lock it in. I then periodically check GB on clean ground &

All good points Dew. For me, a more angled control head for better line of sight & button access. The tones need more spread between the mid & high. Being able to separately adjust the AM channel volume would be a huge benefit as would stereo mixed mode. Maybe an adjustable Iron bias/Black Sand. The greatest improvement for me would be a detailed Users Manual giving detailed explanations

You can probably purchase from the Polish dealer, Underground Passion or the UK Distributor, Detecnicks. They have an EBay site for USA shipping. That is what I did. The software update Rutus is working on is still being tested and has not been released yet.

El Nino, That is very encouraging news.
NASA Tom, I very much agree. I understand & take into consideration that the MDT 8000 is 1st Generation, and I feel a very successful advancement. I re read some of my field notes from the past year or so, and confirmed that the Tarsacci has performed very well for me, even in heavy nails. It will see the mid size targets a VLF cannot. I want it to

Dave, The audio on the Versa is very good. I have just now set up my first Custom Tone profile using 6 tones as the base model with a ugly sounding tone bin for Al pull tabs and a high tone for Nickels. The next Custom tone profile is going to be modeled on the Legend's 60 tone(Full Tones) selection. That should show me the quality of the Versa's vocabulary. If it is as good as the Le

NASA Tom, All, except one of my "Carpet of nail" sites are in Maghemite soil. And yes, the Tarsacci is easier to decipher without the added minerals because the TID is more reliable. The Tones are reliable in any dirt if set up correctly until the target gets too weak. In minerals, the ground will swallow the target & report as a consistent -30. I always Ground Balance first, the

NASA Tom, My Tarsacci is certainly no slouch. It handles the ground very well, no matter how bad. My difficulty is in heavy small iron, the falsing is very tiresome even with modest sensitivity & threshold levels. Blacksand ON will quiet things down but it seems to kill the depth. I normally set up for heavy iron sites in Disc mode at -30 so the Iron tone gives context to the falses. In cl

I received my Versa on 10/02. Only 12 days shipping from the UK. After a few hours of use on the bench & in the test garden it became very comfortable and surprisingly familiar. The UI is fairly simple & efficient, the in ground performance seems to be on par with my other top machines. The headphones are probably the best I have ever used. On to the field...

Park mode 4 kHz is the best for me in modern trash, thou it doesn't hit Nickels very hard. Park M3 is good in modern trash also. Not as good as 4 kHz on foil & Al, but hits Nickels harder.

The Versa I ordered on 09/21 arrived today before Noon. 12 days from the UK seems like pretty quick shipping to me. It is all on the charger to start exploring tonight. I should be able to put some hours on it hunting this weekend. We will see.

I have often wished for the ability to "see" an old site as it was before it was disturbed by all of our modern "improvements". To better understand the often perplexing changes that have occurred. Resources like Historic Aerials & maps help, but get on the ground and it is often a puzzled mess.
