I bought a couple Whites detectors from Kellyco back in the early 70s. I talked to him personally about the detectors over the phone, and he spent as much time as I wanted answering questions. Things were more personal back then.
RIP, Stu.

Used in a CZ (from a post over at Finds on the Fisher CZ forum)...
The 9.6V batteries are perfect....hold a high charge for quite some time.
I usually hunt for about 15 hours before recharging and there is still plenty of juice left in them.
They do come off the charger with 10+ volts but no problems for the detector.
The Maha charger does 4 x 9V batteries at once which is a bonus.

A friend of mine won $61.45 million dollars in the Powerball in December 2013. After all the taxes him and his wife ended up with about 17 million. They have done a lot of
good to charity and our church. The DID buy a few toys but have put 15 million in their foundation. As far as I can see it hasn't changed them that much.

Here is a swimming pool I detected when I first started detecting in 1971. Park established in 1891 and swimming pool built in the early 1940s.
The first day I detected was... unreal! Using a Whites 63 TR detector with no discrimination it was obvious it had never seen a metal detector before.
Dug quite a few pop tops but the coins were everywhere. I detected on my knees for several hours

reidman wanna sell your old CZ-3D upper stem if your not using it? My son's CZ-3D upper stem got crushed
Seems he had it in the back of a cargo van and it slid backward. He then proceeded to drop a loaded pallet on the stem and crushed it.
He delivers pallets of product and when he travels stops at interesting places to detect like old deserted farm houses/churches/schools/ghost towns/e

All over the park I have found chunks of plaster and square nails when digging up signals with my detector. I've saved a few of them. I know they aren't worth anything but they are special to me. To everyone else I suppose they are just junk.

Tom calibrated my 1021 CZ-3D and tested it in THE DIRT. Here is his private message to me when he was 'calibrating/validating' it:
"Just received the 1021 CZ-3D. . . .

I used to be an offset printing pressman then went into management. 27 years of that. Always enjoyed building/repairing computers so after that went to work for Hewlett Packard. Then I started up my own IT business.
Been TRYING to retire for 3 years now but people keep bringing me their PCs and calling me to work on their networks. When relatives and friends find out you work on/build PCs/networ

What are we here for? I'm not a big Rick Warren fan, but in his book 'The Purpose Driven Life' he states: 'We are here for God's pleasure'.
I am a Christian and many people have asked me this same question 'What are we here for?' I share this simple answer with them.

Not impossible. From this thread here:
My reply...
"Nowdays it is just a hobby to me. Considering the cost of gas and scarcity of good hunting spots and my age I really do not expect much more than finding enough to pay for the detector and a little gas. But, for me, the overall picture is very different. In 1971 at 24 years old the detecting scene was almost unbelievable compared to no

When I started out I had a Relco BFO.... quarters laying on top of the ground were no match for it! Everything else forget it. I think I gave it away when I got a White's TR.

I have been using a set of AUVIO wireless headphones for over 3 years now. Work great and lightweight. Radio Shack was clearing them out for $29.99. Wish I had bought a spare pair.
They function fine on my CZ-3D. I think the ones I got are no longer made.

I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95. I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream.
And then the fight started....
My wife asked me if a certain dress made her butt look big. I told her not as much as the dress she wore yesterday
and then the fight started.....

Quote from Tom:
"* If a CZ-3D is equipped with a 5" coil and Racer w/5" coil......... both are nearly identical in coin depth performance; yet/however....... if trash content is high (especially iron)....... the Racer is ..... hands-down....... a clear winner. Now...... if the CZ is equipped with the 8" coil and Racer is equipped with 11" DD standard coil..... a properly

I used one of those 'headlight restoration' kits on one. Worked great. It also removed a scratch from the face of a watch I have (plastic face).

It sold...
But Don Kagin, the Tiburon-based coin dealer who brokered the deal, said that a "prominent Bay Area collector" paid about $400,000 for the nugget weighing 6.07 pounds. That wasn't far off from the asking price, he said.
"Let's just say it's a win-win for everybody, Kagin said, adding that the nugget went up for sale Thursday with the deal finalized o
