I still have the Vista Gold and RG 1000 V2. Both great machines. Keith nailed there best qualities pretty well. I do not expect to sell either machine anytime soon...Stuart

How do you get down to 10 machines, much less down to only one? too many types of detecting and too many types of soil to hunt in different places to limit yourself to only one detector.... But I will play. Mine would without a doubt be my ...Minelab Excalibur. it is dependable and finds lots of silver and gold for me in and around the saltwater beaches. It has paid for all my other detectors, wh

Beach hunt at night. Always use a light with a red filter. Will not take away from your night vision. Learned that from using a telescope looking at the night sky.

I look forward to hearing about your tests and wish you a Merry Christmas as well Kevin. Hoping to find a new 6" coil under the tree for my newest toy, the CTX this Christmas as well...Stuart

Sorry to hear you are leaving the hobby as well Harold. Best of wishes in everything that you do. Maybe keep one detector in case you ever decide to give it another chance...Stuart

Hey Junk, you should think hard before you sell the TDI. I traded mine for a Mirage PI. Missed it terribly. Got lucky and the man who bought it decided he would rather have something else and he sold it back to me at a very good price. Now, should you decide to sell the Crossbow PI I would be interested. Always wanted to try one of those machines out...Stuart

Great description of your sites and hunting conditions MRH. Those are some very nice finds that you worked hard for.
I am really enjoying the CTX, although just for beach hunting so far. Got the stock and 17" coil and they are great at salt water areas. The relic hunting will begin for me shortly, so I know a smaller coil is in my near future as well. Still in the early learning stages on

The TDI is still my favorite relic hunting machine. I may have to try out one of these Coiltek 14" coils. Thanks for the information.

I have the Epic coil on my Vista Gold and agree with you both. Great set up for depth and separation abilities. Still learning the CTX, but I would think they would be two great machines to cover all of your relic and coin needs in all but the most mineralized soil. Then a PI machine would be needed...Stuart

Largest coil I have is 1 meter X 1meter. A square frame that is carried by straps on your shoulders. Quickly takes apart for packing in and out. A pulse unit, it is only for hoard hunting...Stuart

When I was six years old I was following along behind my dad who was cutting grass in late fall around an old home place. I had on a heavy coat, that much I can remember. The lawn mower stirred up a nest of yellow jackets in the ground and they got to me big time. My dad grabbed me up and ran in the house. I do not know how many stings and bites I received, but when we removed my clothes we count

I will be watching closely and if the opportunity comes to the Myrtle Beach area or farther north, then I am sure I will be out there somewhere as soon as the storm passes. Just once I would love to hit a beach that has been scoured down close to the hard pack and pick up many gold items in a single hunt...Stuart

Thanks for the really good info TNSS and Keith. The CTX looks like a computer geeks dream at first glance more than it does a strait forward metal detector. But as I get to understand better how it can be adjusted and set up in different ways for different hunting senarios I begin to understand just how simple it can be to use. I, no doubt, have a long learning curve ahead of me with this machine

Thanks TNSS, I do understand what you are saying, relic hunting dig the fringe targets on some of the sites that I hunt even the iron signals are worth always digging. On those the TDI original is hard to beat. Beach hunting with the CTX 3030 is strait forward except in very trashy areas. Coin and relic hunting is much more complicated with most sites having heavy iron contamination. My question

I do not know how this tread turned from MX Sport to s CZ post but in N.C. And Va. Central piedmont area I have dug many CW bullets over 12" deep. No exaggeration. Maybe milder soil than you hunt. Ever since 1991. These are from a CZ 6a Los Banos machine just to be exact. Iron masking is the real limitation on these machines more than mineralization from what I can see...Stuart

I recently traded for a new Minelab CTX 3030. The new seals and armcuff design.Traded a Excal II and a model 1021 CZ 3d, Tom D. Calibrated to 11.9" on a dime, with all three coils, Blackwidows headphones, and a Sunray pinpointer plus $350.00. Good deal or not, your opinions welcome. I really hated trading the CZ away, but I still have my CZ 6a and an AU-21x (Tom's customized CZ 3d). I r

Very good finds Wayne. Looks like the MX Sport agrees with you. Keep up dating us on how it does. Can you tell if White's updated the software on your unit?

Good find! I bought an older DMC IIb with the thicker 6,8, and 10" coils. Waiting for cooler weather to use it on my favorite relic site. I need to find a 15" coil for it if anyone here has one that they would like to sell. Great old machines...Stuart

Marcomo, no GPS capability. One of the things that I liked about them.
I did get to take a short video finding a 10k and another silver ring yesterday at the beach. Came out well. Maybe I will do some YouTube videos with a little practice.
I hope those of you who try these out enjoy them.

Lorenzo just look them up on YouTube. Several videos on them.
I agree with you Cal, they should have an angle adjustment, but for the price they work better than expected. Just an option over the higher priced Go Pro cameras.

Pretty much the same with these. I had to practice holding an item up close to the camera. At first it was just below the picture. Camera is just at eyebrow line. Once you remember that, it is no problem. Or you can just hold at arms length and never miss a shot. Close ups are really clear and large. Just no viewing screen, so you have to wait to download to your computer to see what your video f
