Hi All,
I know sometime in the future I am going to regret this but my Tom tuned 1021 3D has to go. Los Banos #10210511.
Tom calibrated this around a year ago and it will hit a clad dime at 12.2 inches! Very HOT!
Along with the detector you get three coils 10.5", 8" and 5"
She is in great condition and has been well taken care of by myself and the previous owners.

Hi Gents,
I apologize for the delay in this posting. My computer went on the fritz.
For those that requested the information you should have received four different documents.
To really do ourselves justice we should discuss gem identification, metal identification, and a bunch of other gemology topics that I spent years learning. But we have to start someplace and there has been a requ

Dan-Pa., This fun topic is about measuring and calculating the WEIGHT of ANY gemstone or simulant in the mounting or loose. Very helpful if you don't have a carat scale. Us gemologists have reduced the tough geometry to a simple formula using a variable for the cut and the stones specific gravity to calculate the weight. It will also cover some basic colored stone identification. Not valua

Hi All,
I started this topic for all whom have shown an interest in estimating the weight of diamonds and gemstones.
In my next post under this topic I will be posting all of the informative text but much will be incomplete without some tables, and reference material. I haven't found an easy way to include those within this forum so I will ask all that are interested to PM me and I wil

Hi Mike. Yes I will. I am tied up for a couple of days but will post some useful info within the week. Let me get some notes together...
Don't discount us pawnbrokers Dan... most of us handle and evaluate more jewelry in a month than most retail jewelers see in a year. Jewelers were some of my best customers. That's right, they buy used second hand goods from me and sell them to thei

Hi Aaron,
Yes I have seen Pawn Stars a few times. It is a little too dramatic for me. All pawnbrokers have similar stories and experiences. I have met all those guys on Pawn Stars... a lot of things are embellished for tv.
I do enjoy getting merchandise that has history behind it. As I mentioned earlier about selling on Ebay... tell a story about the item you are selling and where you found

Thank you for the kudos Gents!
If Tom gives me his blessing I will post some other informative topics...
Would you all be interested in the proper method of testing gold? Basically the procedures I teach all my counter employees?
Small scale refining? Or doing your own drops?

Hi folks,
I am a semi retired 30 year veteran of the pawn shop business and at one time owned and ran 5 stores. I can't resist putting in my two cents about the removal and value of small stones and diamonds.... =)
First off let me say that ARA are good folks. I had some dealings with them over the years. One of which included the loss of a BIG BIG dollar registered shipment by our lo

Hard to find interchangeable coil Tesoro Sand Shark. In great shape, used less than a dozen times in surf. Well taken care of, always fresh water rinsed. My buddies health can't handle the surf digging anymore.
It comes with the stock 8" coil, 4x18 CleanSweep coil (w/ cover and extra lower shaft) original box, silicone sealant for battery replacement and manual (filed someplace and

Hi Go,
Strange... I replied to your message yesterday but it didn't appear on the forum.
No, all the solder points are in the housing except for the connector at the detector end.
The manufacturer does their best to relieve strain on the coax at the coil but coax just was not meant to be bent sharply or constantly flexed. Unscrewing the pigtail will allow a little more movement of

I tried all my different size coils for you and they don't false. Unfortunately I don't have an extra to let go of. Where is Christoper Ohio...? He usually has a bunch of spares. Start a new topic "WTB CZ 8" Coil". That should get you some attention.
There is a small chance the problem is outside of the coil housing in the first inch or two of the wire. If you or

Mine doesn't. Sounds like a coil or cable issue. Make sure your cable is secure on the shaft. Nylon bolt and nut, Have you tried your bump test in all 3 modes? Auto tune, disc and pinpoint.... that should tell you for sure.
Keep in mind about any stray metal... like shoe eyelets, steel toes etc.. will false your machine if close enough.

Hi Daniel,
I think we need to hear/see that. It sounds interesting. <pun intended> =)
Yeah coils.... I am having a coil problem, again, leaky (i think). They frustrate me to no end. The coil seems to me to be the weakest link and I am not just referring to the TDI. I am not sure if it is bad manufacturing tolerances or what. So I am studying and gearing up to make my own coils. I dabb

That sounds like a thru hole to me.
My number is just like yours #15. The highest number I have heard of is 20. I am not sure about the rest of the numbering scheme. Whites may or may not have issued the number as it started its assembly or finished it. And if they started from # 1 again on a new manufacturing birth day. Right now that seem plausible to me. I am guessing that they came out i

There are extra markings screened on the control box by the conductivity switch that indicate a NEWER one. It says something like "GEB switch must be on/off" with some arrows. The early original models DO NOT have this marking.
If you look at the picture of the TDI on the Whites site it shows an early one without the marking. (last time I checked)
The reason for the warning is bec
