What advantage is there, in mild soil, in using the F75 vs the MXT--coil sizes being equal?
Thanks, guys and gal-great responses from an awesome forum.

Tom, with both machines in Salt mode, is there any performance difference on either wet or dry beaches? Both machines set to minimum discrimination. Ordered the new video-if it's as good as the last one, it's a winner.

Thanks for the reply, Tom. I'll try the dime test. I must say this, though, in this black gumbo soil of North Texas, no machine outside of a PI will find a coin 7 3/4" deep. Sandy or sandy loam, yes. But not here.Love the beach DVD.

DD coil - 12 years ago
Tom, question concerning coil size-- width versus length. Presently I am using a 6 x 10 Whites DD coil and a 2 1/2 x 9 Hot Foot coil (both DD coils)on a White's MXT. My question is how much more effect on depth, if any, does the width of the coil have? Secondly, in somewhat neutral soil (55) would a 6" concentric equal the performace of a DD? Thirdly, can a forum get any better than th

Tom, in my area and soil, we have what has been described as a soil with a high loss angle to detectors (high electrical conductivity). Can u further explain this in plain english?

Tom, what would you consider the max settings (volume, sensitivity) for max results on a CZ-5 or any of the earlier cz units?

Thanks, Tom/Tri-I did read the PI tome by Reg and darn, I should have stayed with EE in college instead of switching to Geology (less physics). Your last statement, Tom, about the Sea Hunter being 'small gold dead' was really the crux of what I was looking for.

Tom, the two Garrett PI machines have 750/730 pulses per second. How does this translate into the micro pulse spectrum?

Tom, a discernible signal comes in at about 7 1/2", even at the settings you suggested (using an 8" coil). What do you suggest?

Tom, the controls on my CZ-5 cannot be manipulated to allow me to hear the threshold sound. Does this mean it is seriously lacking in depth or what? Should I send it to the factory for calibration?

LowBoy, thanks for the info but the question does not apply to any particular detector-generalized coil question applicable to surface area coverage.
