Hi NASA Tom,
Everything Bill says above goes for me too. I have covered nearly every post at one time or another. It was James (Liquid1) who brought your forum to my notice. Thank goodness..it's in a class by itself... but only because of your willingness to patiently share your expertise. I'd be selfishly happy to keep you right here...all to ourselves!! That's my humble view.

Hi Lawrenzo,
Yes, I recall seeing that same report....and I took it with a grain of salt. It seems to me that EMI levels and ground mineralization will decide on the maximum gain that can be used on any given site. There's no point in running in the "high gain" mode if sensitivity has to be turned down substantially. I don't see any benefit to that operating scenario. You

Hi NASA Tom,
Thanks for that confirmation. Tom, I've read a number of references to your DVD, boy am I a dumcluck, before finishing this message I checked your site and see it's easily available. I'll buy a copy soon as the wife gets home...she knows better how to buy things online. That way I won't be asking repetetive questions. With my new F-75, I believe it'll be j

Hi NASA Tom,
Some detectorists claim that adding saltwater into the freshly dug holes of their newly created coin garden can have the effect of yielding depth results (within a fairly short time period of a few months) similar to what might have been expected if the ground had not been disturbed. Are you familiar with this idea, and is there any substance to it? Thanks, Jim.

Thankyou for that explanation Tom and EZ. As I understand the DE mode, a disc setting below 5 or above 19 puts it into a higher gain. Tom, does that also apply to the PF mode? Thanks..Jim.

Hi NASA Tom,
Just purchased the F-75, it will arrive in a few days. Was reading the manual again, and have a question about the PF mode. Is this mode a high gain mode similar to the JE mode, or not? Under what conditions would you use the PF mode as compared to the DE mode? Appreciate any suggestions Tom...thanks..Jim.

Hi Nasa Tom,
Still considering buying an F-75; another question...how would you characterize the motion all-metal mode with respect to the retune speed? For example, slow, medium, or fast? Thanks..Jim.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for that effort, most kind. As a prospective buyer, I appreciate getting any information that can add to my understanding of this unit. After reading many of the forum posts, I realize that a prospecting related question is somewhat unusual here; further, I think you've addressed the topic candidly, and as far as reasonably possible, without having verifiable real world res

Hi Tom,
Thanks very much for your views on the subject. In retrospect, perhaps I should have worded the question differently; regardless, the question was sincere. In an effort "to do it right the first time" I have researched all the leading prospecting units, including the F-75 as a potential candidate.
The Minelab ground balancing PI units are currently the leading choic

Hi NASA-Tom,
I'm new on this forum and would like to thank everyone for their informational posts. I've been a relic, coin, and jewellery hunter, and hobby prospector for some 22 years. I'm considering updating my detectors to include the F-75 for gold/silver prospecting.
The F-75 seems to have the necessary features for prospecting, such as a decent operating frequency at 13 k
