I'll be the negative Nancy on the Tesoro thing. I say if their machines were that accurate at IDing gold from trash, then they would still be around today instead of not being in business. There would surely be a huge market for machines that people could go out and, with a little learnin', be able to hear those nuances and ignore most all the trash and dig only gold. And surely by n

No, I didn't Harold. The Equinox did ID deeper than the CTX and was the deepest ID machine I had used up to that time. I kept an Equinox from the time I bought it when they first came out, up until I sold all my stuff a year or so ago. The only thing like that, that I did that you might be remembering is, I started with the 600 because it was all I could find, then bought an 800 when they c

XP's jump from the Deus 1 to Deus 2 is probably the most advanced jump from one generation of machine to the next that I have ever saw in detectors. Deus 1 was not a favorite of mine; its largest strength was hunting in iron; the control remote for it was pretty much used for changing settings. The ID was useless. On mine, everything wanted to ID as a 98 signal...especially deeper stuff. T

Ha! I don't even listen to music. Nothing worth listening to. Don't have TV either for the same reason: nothing worth watching. That might surprise ya. Not had one since 2010ish. I'm still aware of current events and get the pop culture references but don't see how people can sit for hours watching stuff on there. I'm outside doing stuff most of the time. I'm 39 and

I wouldn't consider an eTrac, CTX, or Deus 1 an old machine either.
Given a situation where you had a new site to hunt today and your choice of any machine to hunt it with...would a Tesoro uMax (any of them), Whites Spectrum (any of them), 5900/6000 series or Fisher 1200 series or CZ, Minelab Sovereign (even with Patriot meter) or Musketeer be the one you grab? Maybe it would be for you b

Not everybody hunts parks Harold. Nor does everybody in the hobby exclusively hunt for old coins. I couldn't care less about coins myself. Unless they are silver, the ground corrodes them so bad you can't even see details on copper coins or nickels. From a relic and jewelry hunting perspective...if I would have had current machines 25-30 years ago, my collection would be a lot bigger. E

Yall dug up an oldie thread right here.
My take on it is a little controversial. I think a lot of detectorists are subject to the "Mandela Effect" when it comes to remembering things. Sort of like fish stories. Especially when the same results can't be duplicated today but that's just my take. If we would have had some of the current machines back in the day, there probab

Deus 1 was a beep/dig machine to me. It was often and accurately said to just use the remote for setting adjustments and then put it away; you couldn't rely on it for ID purposes. It really only shined in places loaded with iron.
Deus 2 has changed that quite a bit. I don't know what they have done...whether it's the SMF or something else, but I have been impressed with the ID

I dove back in head first.
I now have a Deus 2 and Tarsacci. I've only played around with them around my property and that's all I have had the chance to do. Tarsacci with 12 inch coil is very deep. Deus 2 with 11 inch coil did not initially impress me. It took some setting modifications and tweaks to get it rolling. In this dirt, it's no where as deep as the Tarsacci, but it d

My buddy Dave has only 70,000 subscribers. But he gets a ton of views per video. He dropped one 4 days ago and it already has over 30,000 views. That's what the money algorithm is based off of. He quit his full time job last summer. That's the only work he does now is YouTube videos. I sure didn't quit a full time job just for $100. He told me he was pulling around $60k a year j

The UTube is all about making money. I know 4 people locally that were making more money from their YouTube channel than they were their day jobs and were able to quit their job and do the channel for a full time job. That's not bad considering their channels were just a small niche hobby.

I went ahead and got Tony to make me a pair of his headphones. Looking forward to getting this beast out some place in the wild. I honestly can't believe I'm getting a good strong non ferrous reading on a 12 inch minie ball. Back in the day when I ran the F75 all the time, I had dug bullets that deep but it required using it in motion all metal mode, then circling the area where I got

I ended up getting a MDT with 12 inch coil that came yesterday. I would like a new pair of headphones for it though; does anybody know where I might find a set?
It took me a minute to remember how to adjust settings but once I figured it out, this machine smokes everything in my test garden. Everything. This machine with the 12 inch coil is going to be a depth monster.

Interesting so far! I would have thought the new Deus would have more interested parties. I came close to buying a Tarsacci with 12 inch coil several times but am hesitant. The Tarsacci with original coil worked well for me but if I ever decided to sell, the demand for them isn't as high as other machines out there. I liked the Nox but everybody has one now, especially at the beaches. I

I never left from following. I just couldn't ever post here because my iPhone didn't like this site. I'm back with a Samsung now and no issues logging in.
I still don't have a place to detect other than my own property and the beach but the allure of finding old stuff never has left.

Assuming you didn't have one, but knew what you know, what detector would you buy today if you had the choice? Same thing you currently have or something different? I'm intrigued by the Deus 2. That may be the one that has my interest peaked enough to throw down some cash after a detector hiatus.

The Hunter GT did a video comparison with the Legend and some other machines in what he described as high mineral soil. I was surprised to see how even across the board the machines were. He did it on an 8 and 10 inch dime. All machines could give a signal on the 8 inch dime but none really gave a "dig me" type signal on the 10 inch one. Some people in the comments were saying his CTX

I second Tom because of all the sites on detectors, this is the only one I still frequent and post on. The knowledge gained from him, surpasses all others I have interacted with combined.
I would also second Bruce Candy. A lot of these guys are one or two hit wonders with detector design and knowledge. Bruce seems to keep redefining the industry standards and resetting the high water mark

YouTube is setup to where a person doesn't start receiving $ until the channel receives 1,000 subscribers. The more likes, subs, etc a video gets, after that, the higher YouTube places it in the algorithm, and makes it pop up on more people's suggested videos to watch. By doing so, it becomes "prime time" for commercials to air. It's all a money thing. Some people think

Exciting times for sure.
I wonder if the launch of the Legend has been delayed a bit to kinda see how the D2 is going to compare to the current gen Legend. I tend to think that they were going hard at Minelab for the market share of SMF, and this might have blind sighted them. I figured XP would be one of the next ones to intro a SMF machine but didn't expect it at this time; BUT my ear h

That's why I said on page 2 of this discussion about the Deus being the leader in that regard. The Equinox IMO was Minelab's machine to compete with the Deus.
Ya'll really do pick and choose what you want to read.

Yall are acting like I'm the only one that has said anything about an imitation.
Go check out the social media pages. The talk about it being an imitation/copy has vastly overshadowed any talk about features, or it being a new machine. Thus prompting the videos from Dilek. It's not me. I don't have a dog in their race. From the outside looking in, all I can say is, it's s

The sneaking around stuff don't fly too well here. Nearly every major construction project here will have security guards on site 24/7. This particular site was no exception to that. They brought in some type of trailer/camper things to use as a guard shack and break room for the workers had on site security watching over the equipment and such. That is common place here now days. They usua

Nope that wasn't me. I haven't done much selling on eBay; mostly just buying.
Yep the eTrac was my favorite of the Minelab FBS machines. The one I didn't keep long was the Explorer XS; I bought one of those because I think it was Keith and some of the others that said it was overall the deepest of the FBS machines and I just wanted to compare. I usually always had an eTrac tuc
