My dad has a 2012 Tacoma access cab with a 6 cyl. It's a decent truck for them as it's just two people and they can use the access cab back seat for stuff. They haul their boat with it to the lake and although it does pull it...it's not easy on the gas while doing it. It actually gulps it.
When we were looking for my wife a new one, the Tacoma was our #1 choice. We build the par

Time is all in how you measure it. In the overall scheme of things, even 20 years really isn't all that long. My first FBS machine was the Quattro. It probably wasn't the best one to start out with because quite frankly, I ended up hating it. Somewhere in there, I decided to try an Explorer 2 and actually liked it except for the overall weight. When the eTrac came out, I was one of the

I was actually thinking of the Tacoma but my phone auto corrected it to Tundra (I drive a Tundra). Why would I have to explain its look? There's millions of them on the road. Ford had even completely dropped the mid size Ranger truck, and then brought it back to the US market to compete with the Tacoma. Side by side they are almost clones of one another (I know because we bought a 2021 for

Doc that's not that hard to figure out.
You're either following or leading.
The latest machine I know of that is leading, is the Tarsacci. Nothing out there like it. It has it's own unique look, sounds, and behaves like nothing else on the market.
Before that, it was XP with the Deus. Lightning fast, wireless, ability to change frequencies, etc.
Then I would give the

There should be lots of good videos out there on the eTrac.
I liked the coil options of the eTrac a lot. There were some great coils for it.
With you never running one of these machines, you'll have to get used to SLOWING DOWN vs what you have been running. I personally liked the eTrac more so than even the CTX 3030 for inland hunting. The only reason I preferred the CTX was for beach

If I were still active in hunting, the MDT would be the machine I would have to have in my hands. Sometimes it's all I can do to just not bite the bullet and buy one.
Steve - When I was using it, I found the little high chirps of disc mode to be hard to concentrate on ciphering between an actual target, a false, or junk. I much preferred the Mix mode audio...I could "size up" it

Ya'll got Dilek fired up about this copying talk. She did a whole video rant about it on their Facebook page but the points she brought up about it, totally missed what people are saying.
Her biggest point was insinuating that the copy talk was just on the Legend being a SMF machine. Most people already knew that other manufacturers have SMF machines. That wasn't what people are refe

The Legend will appeal to the group I call the "never Noxers" who got their undies in a wad over the "obsolete" marketing that Minelab used when the Equinox was first marketed. They vowed then to never own one. They've been waiting for an alternative and this will be it for them. It wouldn't matter if all they done was took an Equinox and just stripped the labelin

I must say this one seems to have the right amount of excitement for it; nothing over the top and flashy but just enough to make you take notice.
I recently read an article about DJI the camera/drone makers. Their biggest competition is of course GoPro and the DJI people said it best, with me paraphrasing...it's easy to be 2nd best when you play follow the leader. All you have to do is w

Definitely! I have the 920iX as well, with carbon fiber rod. Single handedly, probably the best piece of detecting equipment I own. I don't even currently have a detector but won't part with that scoop. Stuff like that seems high but if it's something that will probably outlast you, then it's worth it.

Nope, it's nothing new. And just because it's on video, doesn't make it true either. I've recently gotten into native american artifact collecting and that's one of the first things they told me about...watch out for fakes, and don't believe videos either. Someone in the collecting community had recently gotten duped by a video that was suppose to be showing a cach

NASA Tom -- Your posts are always great to read. I never commented a lot from what you post because some times to be honest, it's a bit over my head and I'm just not one of those people to jump in and make a fool of myself by acting like I know exactly what you are talking about and understand everything.
Some times though you put the cookie jar low enough that even I can get one an

The MDT 8000 remains one of the better machines I have used in a long time. If I were to get a machine today, it would be one of those with the 12 inch coil. Without breaching into the pulse world, it remains the deepest of the machines I have used; I can only imagine what the 12 inch coil does for it.
I share the same thoughts as Tom on the Nokta/Makro and other machines. Making machines tha

I wouldn't get so hung up on detector sales being up to be the tell all. Because all outdoor gear sales are up. Boats. Campers. ATVs. Camping gear. Kayaks. Boat dealer lots are almost bare; I had to order my boat and wait 5 months on it to come in. Covid made people start looking local for activities to do instead of travel; whether it be camping, boating, etc. In fact, the day I went to p

Hello everybody...long time no see. No, I'm not back into detecting. Just thought I'd take the time to chime in on this thread.
The harsh reality is that I believe what someone else said is true; this is a dying hobby for those in the US. I say that because at one point, there were several guys around here locally that detected pretty hard core. Multiple machines; always buying the

I'll put it this way. I whittled my machines down from the Equinox, GPX, CTX 3030, etc down to just one and the Tarsacci was what stayed.
I don't hunt iron laden sites though. In the last couple years I transitioned to more of a jewelry/water hunter instead of relics. As of this year I only had 2 relic sites left that wasn't developed. Now, it would be down to one, because t

I don't hunt the iron laden and thick sites like Keith and some of the others do. Keith and I hunt totally different ways for the same relics. His method is finding old Civil War era home sites that are now long gone...torn down and or burned down places that the soldiers would have stopped at during the war or camped at too. That's a totally different kind of hunting than what I do.

I didn't know fishing had a season? I trout and bluegill fish during the spring/summer, then start catfishing in the fall and early winter. When full winter sets in, that's my time for the best crappie, sauger, and walleye. It's a mu

I'm having a blow out sale. I've dove head long into fishing and selling all my detecting equipment. Over the years my interest in detecting has gotten less and less; more so out of lack of places to go. I love doing it when I'm at the beach but I only go 1 time a year and we're not going this year.
SO...without further ado, here is what is up for grabs:

I about flipped out. I had a couple gold coins I was thinking of selling to try and be able to buy a belly float for river fishing. I was just going to price them for what I had in them from several years ago. I'm glad I looked up current prices before listing them cause if I would have for the prices I had in mind, I would have had a hundred messages instantly with "I'll take em

I had no idea the loaner test machine had not been returned. I had wondered why that project had came to an end though. That upsets me not just a little, but a lot. I can't stand a thief. Is there anyway of finding out who kept it? I would like to know, if for nothing else but to add a name to my list for never doing a transaction with.

Harold -- I am definitely seeing more and more of that down my way. As the older farmers die off, their land goes up for sale and people from up north or from Florida buy it. My understanding is that some areas of Florida have become so high in cost of living and taxes, that some people who moved there to retire, can't make it on their retirement funds and had to pull up stakes and move to

Over the years I have been on hunts and property where multiple CS plates have been found, along with other relics that were individually worth hundreds of dollars. Can show it all to the owners and explain what each item is and answer any questions about value, etc. The most I have ever had them want is a bullet or two and most are reluctant to do that. My buddy Jeff and I hunted this man'

Most all landowners I have dealings with couldn't care less about stuff on their property. I have only encountered 2 that jokingly told me "If you find a wagon full of gold coins and bars, I want half of it".

Just watched the video. You can sure hear the electrical interference coming through on the Apex but can also see a high tension line tower in the background

When I first got into detecting, Whites was the king of the mountain of detectors. I remember staring at them in the Sears catalog and dreaming of having one...then seeing their ads in the magazines made it worse. The Blue & Grey Pro was the one I wanted most. By the ads, and my 10 year old self, I was convinced it was engineered to find Civil War relics and I wanted one bad. The MXT was my
