Oh all that took place a long while back. It's all water under the bridge to me now. I only brought it up here because we were telling ole war stories about being banned from various places. I NEVER lost any sleep over it, I guarantee you that. LOL The point I was trying to drive home back then, was that you don't know who most of these people are on the Internet. You don't kn

Invite Don down for a hunt with the 3030. That's what I did...he came up and hunted with it in one of my bad dirt sites last summer. I went into the hunt kinda wanting one. After seeing how it did in bad soil...I left not wanting anything to do with one. I can't remember how many minie balls I found that we signal checked before I dug them...and I believe he got a signal on one of them

I got banned from the Findmall Whites TDI classroom for telling Reg to post up or shut up. He kept telling me I didn't know what I was talking about when talking about hunting with the TDI...despite Whites having my videos up on their website and pics of HUNDREDS of Civil War relics I had dug with it in 3 different states. He finally got to me and I took a pic of all my TDI finds and posted

The blade type on the Predator has a lot to do with how it handles rocks.
I bought the Raven when it first came out and couldn't use it because of that...the curved C shaped blade would hit rocks and stop...good way to twist an ankle. The Piranha by Predator is a nice shovel as well....light weight and don't have the curved blade and does good in rocky ground.
I have the Model 45

Wow. Nearly 1.5" depth difference between the Gold and the GMP/Deus? Suddenly the Gold ain't looking as appealing as it was a couple weeks ago. In the detecting world, 1.5 inches is quite a bit. I've paid $300 for accessory coils just to TRY and gain 1.5 - 2 inches more depth.
The only thing is though...would a low conductive target such as a Eagle coat button, be better fo

In the case of east Tennessee....most of the goodies here are simply covered in concrete. Parking lots, shopping plazas, Walgreens and WalMarts.

I think in the early going with the Tejon, a lot was rushed into production. I remember when they first came out, several of my hunting buds and I had them...and all were different. Some were cosmetically horrible compared to others...with wide gaps between the control box and rod, bad battery packs and weak door hinges. My uncle had one that you had to keep a rubberband over the battery doors to

Pentax W90. Water proof, freeze proof, shock proof, and dust proof. Takes HD video, great pics, upclose ones too. Mine has been going with me since 2010 or so.

If it wasn't for Tom this forum wouldn't be here to find out about the newest technology and getting the most out of detectors. Win.
If it wasn't for Barry & Carter, there wouldn't be a place for those of us in the United States to purchase any of these newest detectors that are trumping the US machines in every way. At best, you could hope to snatch a used one and be s

Dave is just a human, and has had quite a run of success. After a while though, you put all your ideas on the table and sort of plateau. Then the young guns take over; thinking outside the box. Maybe that's where FT is right now.

There is another problem as well, with non-dealers posting videos and tests: They are easily bought out to manipulate their tests/findings in lue of special offers and such from manufacturers.
This I know because when I was doing my videos and became a more well known video guy on the forums...I received a proposition from a very well known US detector manufacturer's rep...who lay out a

Tri and Aaron -- Which are you two gonna be, the pot or the kettle? Last time I checked, the name calling bit is what little kids do in grammar school....which is exactly what you two were doing when you accused Barry of being immature, and hypocritical etc. I've been registered here for quite a while now and I can't think of a single post in which you two have ever contributed anythin

The rude people are why I quit doing my videos. I decided that for me, it wasn't worth the trouble of carrying a camera, filming one handed, editing video clips, then uploading it all. It use to be awesome but then it got to where people were so negative and critical that I threw in the towel. They would even bash me for the way I talked!! BTW...you can disabled comments on YouTube...you ca

Thanks everybody!! I'm not getting back into detecting just yet. I've still got a ways to go in shooting. I wasn't expecting a podium finish this early though. I'm not shooting the full circuit this year...just a few of them. I don't have sponsors like a lot of the other archers do so everything is coming out of my pocket....equipment, travel expenses, etc. It is a very e

I know this is off topic but I had to share this. A little under a year ago, I sold all my detecting gear to devote my time to the upcoming 3D Archery circuit. I have been working hard at it, and our first tournament of the yr was in Gainesville, FL this past weekend. I am happy to say I made the podium in it! My first podium finish at this national level of archery!!
I also shot my fi

They built those corduroy roads a lot in winter camps. There are several reasons for them...the biggest was to keep out of the mud. The winter time is notorious for being rainy in the south, and the troops were often hunkered down in one spot for several months. When you have thousands of human and animal foot traffic in one spot, every day, it don't take long to make a mess. To make matt

I've had several brands over the years. I keep coming back to the Killer B's...even though they are the only ones I've ever had break down on me. The pair of Gray Ghosts I had worked great on my GPX but didn't like how they fit on my ears. The Killer B's are by far the most comfortable pairs I've had; although I've had 3 pairs that shorted out right where the

Aaron -- I don't know...you tell me?? You were one of the big critics of the Blisstool. Unless you know something I don't, the Blisstools are still around and those that have them, are liking them more and more. It just seemed that from the get go, there was harsh resistance towards the Blisstool and people flat out refused to give it a chance where as now, everybody is embracing thes

Just a question for you guys. I don't want to start a war or fight...I am sincerely just curious.
Why are you being so quick to purchase these Deep Tech machines when all that has been posted are a few videos from an individual or two? This is exactly the same grounds that the Blisstool was brought out with...and yet it received so much negativity from ya'll. Every time a video w

You can see sections of this on display at the White Oak museum in Fredericksburg. They donated part of the logs to the museum as they were in the ground. Very neat display.
Some of those guys are bottle hounds. The only time you see them hunting with detectors is when they are searching for deep iron to signal a potential hut site...hopefully filled with the camp drunk's bottles. S

Interesting video/tests. I'm certain the Blisstool can out gun them in depth...especially in the badly mineralized ground. But it certainly looks like these other machines have a big leg up on target separation and much easier to discern non ferrous from ferrous.

Let us know when you get it. I'm getting the hankering to want to go dig something...despite full blown 3D Archery season about to kick off in a couple weeks. If I had the money I'd get the Vista Relic just to give it a go...all my extra cash is going towards a trip to Florida for a big national shoot next month though. If I do good down there at the shoot...I will have more than eno

Great finds! I always loved getting different bullet types. That was always the big plus of hunting those VA camps...you ran into overlapping camps from all through the war, so the variety was crazy.
As to the sheer amount of drops and such at your latest site...I offer a theory. This was taken from a book about the battle of Shiloh:
