I don't think, let's say, a 5" coil of same design can be built to match a 10" coil, for depth. First Texas does build a pretty awesome 5" coil that gets approximately 1 1/2 less depth than their 11" DD coil. I think thats pretty awesome. You could get a F-75LTD/T2SE that have the boost mode, couple that with the 5" DD and you have a very potent small coil rig f

Great finds....to say the least. Not only for being gold....but the targets themselves. Congratulations on your expertise. And a really well-written post.

"I think Tom told me that you can lower down to as far as 70% and still get 100% depth w it. "
Tom, if above is correct, would this hold true for the Omega outfitted with the 11" DD coil?

My question is this.....is the multi-target display a visual redundancy of the audio signal one would get, using the penny-nickel 2" apart example. My machine (non-Minel

If you get a Sanborn map...chances are the cemetery/church will be on it. If thats the case, your problems will be solved, as Sanborn maps were very precise in locations of buildings/structures. Besides the Internet, as others stated, there are other sources that may have a Sanborn map or a county map etc. Do your homework. If it was the county seat at one time, its recorded on some map.

It will never happen.....but.....if commodities/stocks speculation were banned worldwide.......then cost/pricing would be more stable. That would benefit the everyday person and not the monied elite. Wishful thinking on my part.
Good example...JP Morgan/Chase recent 2 billion dollar loss/speculation...which will be forgotten by the public in 2 months.....until the next time it happens.

See if you can locate a Sanborn fire insurance map for that town. Just Google, Sanborn maps+the state the ghost town located in or Sanborn+name of ghost town. You'll quickly find out what these maps are.

Now...the 64 dollar question is this.....is it strictly ferrous/non-ferrous identification or the ability to truly discriminate (to E-Trac standards) each separate target under the coil. And how many 'multiple' targets can it handle simultaneously?

"SO Smartfind2 is seeing multiple targets under your coil."
The coil on the CTX-3030 doesn't look different, so I am wondering this. Is FBS2 a software enhancement of the 'Minelab Wiggle'? And they a calling it the ability to see multiple targgets under the coil. My concern is the way Minelab intimates that their detectors do certain things which they do not. Example..

Keith, interesting observation. Makes sense too, provided the wireless unit is high quality in its performance.
Tesla, IMHO...one of the most valuable human beings ever to be born.

I think Tom is laying low due to the CTX-3030. Doesn't want to get pulled into posts that at this point are speculation. Tom is strictly a Sergeant Joe Friday type of guy......"just the facts, ma'am".

On the surface the pic is funny. My concern is the mean, abusive and petty behavior that frequently goes hand in hand with this brand of 'humour'. That's my 'pulpit' moment

Earth...I hope you do purchase one....as we know we are going to get a honest appraisal. You have used the E-Trac/V3i and Deus, which gives your analysis more veracity.
The other thing is that you physically suffer (back problem) when using a poorly balanced/heavy detector and your evaluation in that area will be quite useful. That's a huge concern with the CTX-3030. But please don't

Stuff like this is what spoils the hobby. Grown men that never really grow up. The scary part is that the percentage of immature detectorists is higher than I want to assign a number to here.

Not being the engineer type, I was wondering if FBS technology recovery speed is limited due to it being FBS (Time Domain). I.E......faster/multiple micro-processors will not enhance recovery capabilities.
Anyone want to venture a opinion on this speculation of mine?

$600.00 can still get one a top of the line machine. If results/performance are used as a criteria, and not the price tag. The Omega and its clone, the AT Pro are two examples that come to mind. Are they salt water machines.....no....will they do Culpepper, VA soil? No! But for around $600.00 they pack a tremendous amount of performance in most areas. But heck, as most here know, there are applic
