I wouldn’t even turn my machine on if it threw such a tantrum.
A lot of speculation going on, a lot of people who don’t have any confidence in the brand.
These guys make detectors who can smell a mosquitof@rt at 200 yards.
Even the Go-Fling it in a ditch had for a childs toy very reasonable performance,... you don’t want your kids digging tunnels at the beach!
So I’m on the list. No need

If it is indeed a BBS VFLEX hybrid baby I'm sure the Nox will turn into a classic.
BBS doesn't give small iron high conductive tones, small iron is where it should be. A low grunt.
And it just goes with the flow from low mineral to high mineral.
VFLEX is fast and get the ground settings just wright it is DEEP. You simply can't go as deep on low conductors with FBS or FBS2 as

Sitting at the doctor with some time on my hands.
Everyone seems to have gone for the assumtion that it will indeed or should Obsolete a few other detectors.
FBS2 can be very deep, however you don't buy it for sheer depth, you buy it for great ID.
VFLEX is fast, has great ground tracking, great ID, but can also be run fixed GB for harvested fields littered with iron.
However not wate

To get a bit of an idea of how a VLF coil behaves.
A rough guesstimate at best.
I divide the frequency used by half the volume of the elipsoid generated by the coil circumference.
This gives you a number I call a frequency density,... again it is of totally no scientific value.
But it gives you a rough estimate of how a coil should behave.
Especially if you have any kind of experience wi

You've answered your own question.
FERROUS-COIN no ground feedback because it has slow tracking to ground-air. it is intended to differentiate between IRON and TARGET.

It doesn't track, that's the beauty and the problem of the PP.
Beauty is depth, problem is you need to re-PP every few yards.
It hits PI depth on beaches that way, often the only way to hunt on a sanded in beach with the CTX.
Anyway, targets the CTX has a problem with in disc. The SDC will clearly identify even with it's small coil :-)
That's why I've sold the

Shifting ground balance from optimum point alters ID.
In order for the FBS2 unit to achieve a consisive ID in different ground it needs ground balance to be exact every time.
If ferrous or mineral shifts ID on the conductive/ferrous spectrum, you can alter signal processing to achieve the optimum ID "The ID people are use to"
If rapidly or slowly changing ground alters I

What any mode does on the CTX is make targets stand out.
The computer is told to alter the preference towards the "prefered" signal.
In mineralised ground your first response when you up the sensitivity is a ferous signal using tracking.
They provided a fixed ground balance to enable the CTX to hunt plowed land with varying air gaps under the coil.
You ground balance with minima

Car manufacturers often quote fuel consumption.
I once did the math.
With my average driven miles/kms per year it would take me more than my lifetime, to justify buying a new vehicle because it had lower fuel consumption.
Go figure.
These days I walk to work :-)

You know its kind off funny.
Looking from a distance at metal detectors, manufacturers seem to have it the wrong way around.
A cheap and cheerfull detector often just goes BEEP over a signal.
And a high end costing an arm and a leg gives you a complete earfull and tries to fry your brain.
Their reasoning seems to be that folks starting out don't want their brain fried and experienced

I had a brief encounter with Go-Pro and editing stuff. Since then I've got a healthy respect for guys filming stuff and decided my life was too short to become proficient.
So rather then try and decide after watching endless youtube bits and pieces if a detector and anything else suits me for that matter.
Save up and buy and try!
But again, AMEN to all those guys producing flics for o

Kevin,
My sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom.
We missed your adventures, but no doubt your time and dedication was dearly needed by her bedside.
May She rest in peace.

Ah well,
As most brands these days have got wireless and faceplates with decent tactile buttons,... isn't it about time we got an 805.

With what I've been reading about the Impact and there has been a lot written about this new machine.
I feel I can conclude it is a top of the line VLF with decent EMI handling. This decent EMI handling hinders its depth to some degree when pushing for ultimate depth.
Anyone concur?
When I next visit my dealer I will have to check-out this new tool in the box.

We are simply trying to evaluate if the machine is worth the effort and time to "become one with".
Each for our own "guesstimated" hunting conditions.

Here are the negatives I've collected from reading all these threads.
It likes bottlecaps,... so don't use it in a bottlecap infested hunt.
Only 4 AA's power the machine,... so have a refill on your person when going detecting.
An F75 might be a tad deeper,... how many people can really handle the F75.
What I like:
Coil wire is where it should be.
Decent positive looking

If you think they are just shrinking stuff, then go ask yourself this question.
Why does everything taste better in a restaurant, dinner, café??
Well go buy yourself a packet of biscuits in the local supermarket and go buy the large size packaging in the store catering for the restaurants, dinners, cafés.
Taste one next to the other and.... then the light comes ON!

Just wondering if you guys noticed it yet. But the forum has allready started to get over this "virus".
People are talking more detecting allready.
Sometimes you really need to slam the door shut.
Good luck with the update and just to make a fine point of it.
It took me just about a whole year to make an account, but I was reading and learning on the forum almost daily.

I've been on this internet thingy since Dial-up connections and modems you could hear talking to each other.
Saw the advent of pictures on websites,... pretty amazing stuff.
First guy I chatted with was Oatmeal Jack an MD who fished for carp from his boat on the St-Lawrence river.
Exchanging ideas, sending files, talking about the carp we caught.

Detectors are a very sad business model.
Happy customer can go on for years and only need batteries.
Something that needs service, fuel, oil, parts that wear out, etc. is much better, the customers keep coming back.
I once sold fishing tackle as a side show, biggest earner was bait :-)
Companies need to keep re-inventing themselves and push the technical limits in order to keep our intere

Oh Lord,... what a sorry state of modern aged, cardboard box salesman!
They just know the drivel or the press conference material the company sold them.
Blurt it out to the customer,... charge him money and hand him a cardboard box.
That is how I sell a toy,... batteries included :-)
Just sold a chainsaw to a couple who walked into the shop 15 minutes before closing time.
