I use vet rap....holds fantastic,if it gets to dirty I just peel it off and replace it with new...comes in many colors, and Camouflage
Also works great on covering the foam grip keeping it pres-teen and clean.

Thanks to those who have responded.....guess I'll have to decide on what to get..my soil is mildly mineralized so I shouldn't have a falsing problem with a pin-pointer.
I presently have a Garrett AT Propointer..but I'm looking for a tighter pattern...maybe the TRX would be the ticket with just the pointer end being loaded.
Cheers,

The reason for my question is I'm trying to focus on ring hunting in some of the parks this year with my Golden uMax...when detecting nicely manicured parks I want to leave a very very small foot print.
So I'm looking for a pin-pointer that will give me accuracy and the best depth for that type of hunting...I've been told the trx pointer is very accurate with just the tip being li

I'm afraid you have misjudged me canslawhero....I'm far from fearless, unafraid, undaunted, unflinching, unshrinking, bold, daring, gallant audacious, adventurous, heroic, dynamic, or indomitable....my overburden wallet will not support a Impact at this time....
quite content with my secret weapon at the moment....

Sven...shhhh..your letting the cat outa the bag....I can't wait for the 5 dollar coin to come out this year
You are absolutely right on.. most of the new metal detecting canucks haven't figured out the secret weapon...most look at the Tesoro as a low end old technology... just because it has a single tone with no VID screen.
I was a non believer as well...my first tesoro detector a co

If they could make a setting on the Impact to mimic the analog Tesoro single tone... it gets rid of the wishy-washy on Canadian clad.. simple.
I have 12 detectors in my stable... most are mid to high price detectors, until this year I never dug so much clad as I have with a Tesoro..so for this canuck it's going to be a hard sell to switch to anything else when clad hunting.

guvmore....As Sven alluded to in the original post...it will be interesting to see if the impact has a shine for Canadian clad...to me It would be an expensive detector if that's all I was going to use it for.
I've used several machines with varied success.
Sven noted some of the above machines and I have to agree with him...but the tesoro's have put the fun back into metal detec

Sven...I'm sold on the Tesoro's for Canadian clad....I've never had a detector that will pull clad out the ground like a tesoro..
I've got 13 detectors...and the tesoro's are my go to clad kings.....$257.00 in 4 months, not to shabby for a newbe learning a tesoro.
They do love the $1 and $2 dollar coins
Of course you already know that
Bring on the $5 dollar coins...

Thanks for the tip Mike...I've read most of your post on the golden...you know that detector well
Think someone said you had a faceplate notch map for the golden at one time...said it was very useful..wouldn't still have it?
Appreciate the reply...
Thanks again...
Cheers Bob.

Morning folks,
Just picked up a Tesoro Golden uMax old tones with a 9x8 coil....can anyone recommend other coils for it?
Also any tips would be appreciated..
I've read that the 3x18 clean sweep coil works well on the golden?
For those that have owned a golden what were your suggested settings that worked best for you?
Cheers...HH

Thanks Keith,
Took your advice....opened up the Silver uMax..added the 12x10 concentric coil and did a power balance...followed Monte's instructions.
Gained about 1 1/2 on a quarter...rock solid no falsing...works gr

Yes Keith...looking for a bit more depth if I can get it...I've heard this coil matches up well with the Silver uMax...

Hey guys,
I've got a Silver uMax with a 8" concentric coil....wondering if a 12x10 concentric coil would give me any better performance?
I've got fairly mild dirt...I'm looking for a bit more depth to detect in farm fields with it.
Cheers.

I've never owned a Tesoro until lately....I picked up a Compadre for $80.00 as well.....was so impressed with it I bought another one with the 5.75" coil...
Great little machines...paid for the first one in clad, took about two weeks
I now own a couple more Tesoro's ... Bandido ll uMax and a Silver uMax
Can't say enough about these Tesoro's
Cheers...HH

Gota say my sleeper machine would be the Toroso Compadre with 5.75" coil.....never owned a tesoro, thought they were next to a toy...wow was I wrong.
Bought a used Compadre for $80.00, first week with it found two rings..gold and a silver..oh and $82.00 in clad...machine paid for in a week.
I've seen the light...so I bought four more tesoro's

I have now 12 detectors in my stable...three quarters of them are 25 year technology and are still my go to detectors. They are simplistic in many ways but are so much fun to use.The understanding and the true purity of their sounds is a joy to behold.
My newer detectors have cost much much more....and have left me wondering why I paid the price I did..was it hype..in some cases it was.
