Although I don't get out as much as Dew does, I think I can add a bit of information that may be valuable to the other users. THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS and not meant as a guide yet I felt may be helpful in the future if nothing else but to put others minds in gear when dealing with o-rings and the battery cap.
First off, when I got my machine (Feb 2019) I found my red o-ring up at the top of

Sorry to hear about the camera, was it a defect or user error?
Old gold ring from the looks of it.....I like rings like that.
Good luck next time.

Tom, I'm really happy I made the jump to the Tarsacci, I rarely use any other machine now and just have the Equinox and CTX as backups in case...
Personally, 15 Non Ferrous tones over a range of 30 would be (in my opinion) to many to determine what is what with my hearing. Now something like 5 or 6 tones Non Ferrous would work better....again....in my opinion.

Ok, this may be (or sound) stupid but I don't want to force anything and break my machine..... I need to adjust the upper shaft clamp (needs tightened just a tiny bit)....it appears to be adjustable but is there a trick to it or is mine just froze up from using it in the saltwater to much. I just don't want to grab the plastic covered nut with pliers and break it.....

Well using my phone won't happen....I've gone the go pro route and the battery life is awful....
I'll figure something else out. Thanks for the reply!

Nice hunt Aaron, I knew that was a James Avery as soon as I saw the hallmark...
Curious, what camera are you using for your videos, quality seems pretty good and apparently the battery lasts long too.

Well said Dew! It is so much better with -30 Disc so you hear the iron when switching to Disc mode from All Metal.....my only problem is hitting the wrong buttons when I can't see the controls. I can't count how many times I've hit the T/S button OR turned the darn machine off.....I've got dumb thumb syndrome.... :-)

Aaron, Keith, Dimitar, thanks again for doing that interview. It was a good read and I can't wait for part 3.
I will say it is a pleasure every time I have the opportunity to talk to Dimitar on the phone.
I know his time is valuable yet the conversations always go longer than I expect them to last.

Ok, MDT users....it is so easy to learn a machine and then forget things about it..... today my machine sounded so different and I just couldn't figure it out ...looking at the screen I see tracking on and Black Sand on (normally off for me).....didn't think that was causing my problems. When swinging the coil in the water "into deeper water" or when a wave would go over my co

Tom, good to hear you have validated what Dew and I found in the water with the Tarsacci. No apparent loss of depth and when compared to the ML we found they lost approximately 1-2 inches in the water. This machine is really hard to put down as a salt beach and water machine!

Thanks Dew..... Everyone needs to take care of themselves and families the best you can. Being retired, this is not affecting me (at this time) like it is/has to quite a few in the world. This is a time that detecting would be a good distraction but there are other things that are way more important.
Everyone be safe and most of all, be aware and alert, trying times are ahead unless we can kic

Lucky I got a small gold in March..... now with the "safer at home edict" and the beaches near me closed, I'm out of work for another 30 days....
Bummer...….

Daniel good discovery on the Salt Balance for land hunting. I had a hunch it would work and now I see it will....what I would be interested to see is how the moisture affects the salt balance on the Tarsacci. I do know using an Equinox on the dry sand here in Florida is easy to do in all frequencies however IF the sand is wet from rain (or closer to the wet sand) you can then hear (experience) th

Tom, since Magus Detection's post I finally got out of the rut of 9KHz, 0 Threshold and 9 Sensitivity and have found that 18KHz works well in the wet (using 0 Threshold and 9 Sensitivity). Also have been spending time on the wet sand with 12KHz (Same settings) and what I think I'm finding in 12KHz is MORE smaller aluminum bits (rivet heads and such) that rival running a Equinox in Beach

Yup Badger, done it many times with the same ring(s) and a fine nylon cord with marked measurements on it. Always make every attempt to ensure the ring is laying flat too since pulling up on the string after it is buried (in my case) would have the ring on edge. I can understand the scrutiny but I've done this many times before.

Was definitely wet sand Dew, the hole was filling up with water as I was planting the ring in the bottom, that is why I said 12-13" since I was pushing it down as I filled the hole with sand. Numbers shown were bouncy and "were" upscaled from the normal gold range.

One thing I noticed on the MDT yesterday after I planted a 2 gram gold ring at 12-13" deep. (Settings: 9 Sense, 0 Threshold, 12KHz), I could clearly hear the ring in All Metal but the ID numbers bounced around, for the most part all positive, that for me would be a clear indication of a target I would take a scoop off of to investigate further, however, I decided to try Mixed Mode and found

Bob, it was a pleasure to go out with you. I didn't do much other than help get your settings tuned in and to maybe help with IDing targets in the sand. Your coil control is perfect and I could tell you are a dirt hunter. Won't be long until you are on the gold up north. Have a safe trip and for sure let us know how you do in your colonial spots.....a couple nice pictures could just tem

Dew, I asked the question awhile ago about the distance between two (AQ) machines .....and no one did answer that one.... probably because there have never been two of them rare birds in the same place...…If anything like the ATX, there won't be many operating vlf's close to an AQ.

Good report Daniel. Reminds me of a Corp of Engineers lake I hunted up north each winter. Just about a mile walk in with chest waders and gear. Lake was drawn down each fall and I would start in October and hunt it until freeze up returning each weekend and using a different machine. Really wish I had the Tarsacci then.....
Good luck, there is more there!

Rick, just before the last increase in gold, I sent in a batch of gold and platinum (earmarked for the AQ purchase) to ARA. Got from them almost exactly what I had calculated I would receive. Fast almost same day service, my check was at my home within 10 days of shipping the misc. jewelry. Call or email ahead of time if you are uncertain and have never used them before. JC@ar

Dan, looks about right for a fresh water lake. I feel your pain. Keep at it until there are no signals....then bring in a PI.
Nice finds there too!
