Tom, for me mostly 8 Sensitivity, -1 or 0 for Threshold dependent on conditions and beach.
90% of the hunts All Metal switching to verify targets when I can't see the screen. (murky water)
On a side note, two MDT's can hunt 10 feet apart ( with the same frequencies/settings) in the water The machines will let the hunters know when you get to close together. You will start hearing

Amazing...……
Here's to hoping the next storm brings back favorable conditions
I'd need a backhoe to get down to oldies like that....sure glad you don't have to deal with beach replenishment!

Dew, although I couldn't hear what he was saying in the video, he did have salt on at 25 one time that I could see near the end of the video.

Aaron, I've tried a modified pair of Minelab's off of an old Excal (worked but volume was low), I have used a pair I made with OBN tubes (audiosears speakers sealed in a tube) good volume, and a pair of Harold phones no longer made (audiosears speakers in a tube) good volume. I have no idea how the newer Grey Ghosts would work and haven't tried the new Patriot headphones (I've

Sad to hear although, if I had the same schedule, I would do as you are doing. PM sent on the Tony headphones. I have a friend in Ohio that "may" be interested in the MDT. I will contact him and let him know. He is a member of the forum.

Tom, I believe Dew "meant to say" we had the same results in the water and on the wet. MDT had correct TID and hit the target hard with more to spare, Equinox was iffy at best 10 in the water and 12 in the wet.

Dew, let me add that the MDT did hit that 12" deep ring in the wet "hard" and had correct TID....also hit it in Disc. Definitely would have/could have hit it deeper.
The 18k band TID was bouncing with +/- digits (similar to bottle caps), after taking 2 scoops off the target, the TID settled down with + numbers and the ring came out with scoop 3. One real benefit of having a mask

Paul, sure hope they get that knee figured out and fixed so you can get back out there!
Dew, anything is possible but with the number of hunters on our beaches I doubt that makes much of a difference. I really believe your main beach has higher K depositors then my main beach has... :-)
I agree the higher K rings will sink further faster due to the higher specific gravity/density.

Tom, I've used the MDT exclusively since getting it, only one trip out with the Equinox just to prove it was working.(Had it replaced, water behind the screen)
Just hard to beat "All Metal" on the MDT in or out of the water. I'm now at 0 Threshold and bouncing between 7 & 8 on the Sensitivity.
I'll send a PM with thoughts/desires for making the MDT even better. I

Daniel, I'm so used to this mild sand down here in Florida, only once did I have problems at a beach with any water detector I've used except at one beach. My CTX was running at 6 when in Auto and I didn't know what the machine was doing....even thought about sending it in for repair due to that.....yet....on the next beach, it was running normal again. Went back to that beach and

Love that yellow color on that band! Don't worry about numbers buddy, with 5 days left in the month, my money is on you pulling ahead in the numbers race.
Good work Dew.

Best day in the water to date with the MDT. Five rings, (three gold) couple of silver earrings that had been in there awhile. The one 10k ring is similar to a coin ring but has some 10k disc inside it, picture attached. Anyone have any idea what the disc symbolizes?
Spent over 5 minutes digging that 10k ring, it was the deepest (or most elusive) gold ring I've ever dug (in the water)….betwe

Dew, I'm no audio expert by any means but I think you may be misusing the word modulation. We can debate that off line..lol
With my current Minelab modified phones (piezo's), I have to turn up the volume to max to hear properly, with the Audiosears (Harold's), my volume is much lower usually at 10 I can't say I'm hearing deeper targets with the speakers vs the piezo

Tom, has there been any progress on waterproof phones for the MDT yet or has/is that something not being pursued now?
Has anyone else experienced a sound the machine makes when the control unit first meets the water? Never really noticed it previously until today, not a loud sound but more like a soft background buzz that goes away soon after immersion. I know the Aquasound had a similar nois

Mike, I've noticed the same thing on the dry sand where there is an abundance of foil targets on the surface although I never seriously tested them as you did.
Thanks for the testing and post.

Thinking out loud here...… One thing (I think) I'm noticing with the Tarsacci and TID being unstable and not locking on to targets.....when I can see the screen (clear water or on wet sand) AND get a range of numbers (bouncing) with the coil centered over the target, those targets are typically trash (can slaw, corroded zinc penny, old bottlecap) OR irregularly shaped. Round targets (complet

Yeah Dew, I probably wouldn't dig many bottlecaps IF I decided to just dig the gold number range. Probably 70% of my bouncy 20 range numbers turn out to be bottlecaps.... quarters hit at 20, copper pennies and clad dimes 17-18, corroded zinc pennies I've dug from 10 up to 17ish. Square tabs normally 7 (mid gold range) nickels 6.
Tom, thanks for that detailed post on targets and TID

Tom, is it me OR is your math (percentages) wrong? Maybe I was just tired last night when I read it but the percentages didn't seem to add up....
I normally don't post much (in the past few years) until this machine.....now.... I post a bit more however I think I fall into two of the 70% categories so there has to be an overlap.....lol

Went out for a short hunt today and was concerned IF I would be able to hunt very long since at the start of the hunt I was at 3.6 volts and showing 3 bars on the meter. Almost 4 hours later, still at 3 bars and the voltage is now showing 3.5 volts.... pretty amazing battery life on this machine!
Tried working with 12KHz in the water but couldn't seem to get it to settle down to my likin

Haven't noticed an increase of high karat gold. I end up with one or two 21 or 22k a year usually. Never found a 24k piece of "gold" jewelry. What I have noticed are the ones I have found in higher karat all seem to have "fake stones". One found this year already was 21k and it indeed had a fake diamond, only exception was a 950 platinum with baguette diamonds. I did fin

Hey guys, thanks for the comments but I wasn't looking a pat on the back as much as I was hoping to jumpstart this thread again. Hoping some of the newer owners would share their thoughts on the MDT as well as any nuances they have experienced with the machine.
