Well said Steve! You put to words, my thoughts on the subject, better than I ever could have.
Thank you!

Good video on that chain, machine shows promise.......Now, Mr. Dankowski, what can you add?
Gary Drayton's addition to Treasure Talk on the Minelab sight mentions small earrings and chains without charms if I remember correctly......
One can only assume those may have been found during the testing period so how many of them could be found with the machine settings on the models being ship

Dew, thanks for staying on your soapbox and posting that response from Mr. Stirling. It is good to know they are following the posts and are responsive to our concerns about the machine. We will know soon enough from what all the testers say and what we see in our own tests.

Can't say for sure but if he signed a nondisclosure agreement and if they haven't released him yet, being the professional he is, I would say that is why you haven't heard anything from Tom yet. Totally possible that even in the future he will be very limited in what he can reveal about his involvement.
Having Tom involved prior to the release, couldn't have been a bad thi

Dew, I'm awaiting the answers to your questions also BUT I think I know the answer to #4, AM. Steve H. I believe wrote that AM on the Equinox was all points on the scale. So, IF you had a few points notched out, hitting AM would go to wide open, no notched or discriminated out areas.

It will be interesting to see "IF" Minelab thought about saltwater corrosion on those connectors Dew.
Once the testers get the okie dokie from Minelab, maybe we will hear their thoughts on the charging system.

Stealth 920IX is about as wide as they come and with it full of sand or clay can be a beast of a load to lift. I've done as you did and actually have 5 in the shed as backups various sizes and manufacturers and the stealth with a carbon fiber shaft is what I rely on most of the time. Most of the backups have been repaired, only one that hasn't is a Stavr M9.

Keith, dont know if you know a heat shrink removal trick that works well....just score the shrink with a sharp blade then reheat the shrink......it will split right on the score line.

Thursday this week makes 3 months on my out of warranty repair on my original CTX. Broken upper shaft, my guess if the part is on the shelf, the repair would take less than an hour...glad I have backup machines!

Can't agree more with Johnny, 25 and higher in manual can be very "ear" tiring however it is beach related trashy beaches and beaches with more mineral content force a lower setting. There are some beaches that 25 is my starting point and I go from there. I will say this, IF you can get away with 25 and higher without many false signals, it really does light up the smaller shallow

Charging the battery through the headset connector was a novel idea that could easily be used with other detectors such as the CTX, probably with little in the way of internal wiring changes. I was totally impressed with the build of the machine, Sven definitely pays attention to the little details, he deserves kudo's for his efforts and time.
Glad to hear about your continued success Stuar

Dew, you are like a Pit Bull...once you get your teeth in something, you can't let go..... no wonder you do so well in the water!
Let me know what you find out.....if it takes more than one to tempt him into making a water coil, let me know.

Wow, what a company....
Tom, great idea on passing it along for further/different testing / sites and holding your findings until the testing is done.... This will be a fun one to follow!

Dan, for what its worth, I have one and have yet to get it out....however, after conversations with another hunter about gold chains and detectors I did get it out and compare to my Gold Bug Pro....only an air test while holding the chain balled up. From what I found, the F44 is slightly less sensitive than the Gold Bug in air tests. Chain is a 14k rope style chain that is extremely hard for any

I rarely dirt hunt but at the beach on night hunts, I use the carrot to help find the small things I can find and NOT see at night. I also have a habit of getting in the water at daybreak.... two other pinpointers got trashed by me forgetting they were on my side..... now the carrot gets a bath a couple of times a week.... I can vouch for its waterproof (ness)...... Mine has been swimming with me

Dew,
Bondic is a good product but I don't believe it would be up to the stress for use on coil ears! The Devcon Plastic Welder is a far superior product for use on coil ears where you actually need a "glue", Bondic doesn't glue an

No need to drop the sensitivity (gain?) when going onto the wet sand? I was wondering how it would do on the wet salt beach, thanks for the post!

My thoughts on the 5 x 10 are:
For its size it is heavier than the stock coil.
Feels awkward on the end of the shaft (maybe the weight?) and I have more trouble swinging it.
It Floats, I water hunt........more muscles used....
I can run it hotter then the stock 11"
It pinpoints better then the stock 11"
First two I had failed working in the water in under 2 minutes and had to be s

Good luck with the new machine, be careful of the locking shaft clamps (sand) and be particularly careful of the coiled cable where the shaft ends rub against it causing the cable to outer cover to shred. Could allow water to infiltrate into the coil.
Garrett is good at repairs so no worry there other then down time if it happens to you.
I couldn't get past the Hee Haw sounds, I should ha

Johnnyanglo's information on the O-rings is spot on for keeping the CTX dry, only thing we differ on is the use of silicone. I prefer my O-rings dry which aids in any sand removal that may infiltrate the seam between the battery and housing. I hate messing with grease and sand mixed..... I remove the battery after every water hunt to charge (even if it was a short hunt) which also serves to

as a full time beach hunter, on the rare occasions I do go inland to dirt fish, I would never even think/remember to turn Seawater off to try......all my programs have it enabled. Sensitivity in Auto is always much higher (on my machine), I've seen the suggested sensitivity of 14 while the machine purrs along at 20-25 without false signals, this is on sand in Florida.

Couldn't agree more with what Mike said Bey, odds are you have one of the "new age metal" class rings. One test I do prior to an acid test is to take a strong magnet and put it real close to the ring (& earrings). Lower grade SS will be attracted to the magnet, sometimes ever so slightly. You can tie the ring to a thread and dangle it for the test or if shaped right you can jus

FYI, I've had the Garrett Propointer AT under water now for slightly over 12 hours and have used it snorkel detecting, works great and I like it being rated to 10 feet.....be careful with the Makro....not to knock it since I haven't used it BUT it is only waterproof for a short time compared to the Garrett ....... check into the IP rating on the Makro, yeah if you drop it in it is ok...

Can't say I've had one read 12-13 but I have had them in the 20's and all the way up disguising as a quarter at 12-45. Did dig one yesterday that was wrapped in gold foil..... someone having fun with the water hunters.... I got a laugh out of that one.
