I hunt a lot of old homes..... many were very poor people with little and watched a penny so you dont often find much. Rarely are those crawl spaced used unlike a yard so its going to be slimmmm pickin if you get past iron and EMI. Hey... but as they say even a blind squirrel finds a nut on occasion. Let us know how it goes... if you find lots ill turn tunnel mole.

Like Steve I had elbow pain.... but it was from using a whites machine. Funny when i switched to the heaver SE im injury free. Come on guys.... take a look at are age group here. Looked like MOST of us are over 60 and have been doing it for years. In any sport or activity you do constantly you WILL be injured as you age. Thats a fact of life. Im 59 and used to run marathons for the Army

Personally if you want silver the Etrac is it. Out of the box they are just simpler to use. Having had the DFX way to many people just tweak and tweak i cant see the V3 being any different... there then becomes a confidence issue. I think Dans response about new or old parks have a lot of merit. Knowing your equipment has a lot to do with it if you are talking top of the line machines. I hun

Im waiting for that machine that talks like a GPS.... ITS A NICKEL.... recalculating... its a PULLTAB. At least we would have someone to talk to on our outings... i know i talk to my GPS a LOT. Ive got to believe the companies have to see the benefits in one of their top of the line machines being water proof. Tweak them bad boys and get them in the water where the money is.... BEFORE i buy a

Ive got a home in the Englewood Isles area between Englewood and Venice.... great place to do that kind of hunting... BUT its what 3 hours away from the East coast? There are people that set up out there all day at the Englewood or Manasota beaches digging in and out of the water.

Dont know guys..... the Explorers do a darn good job of bottle cap and pull tab iding also. Bottle caps are VERY distinctive and those tabs unless really deep rarely fool me. The beaver tails are a little more tricky coming in at a nickel reading occasionally.

It also depends on where you are using them. For the beach where you are digging it all the Sov isnt a bad choice. All to often we tend to depend on the screens and thats not the way to affective hunt these machines. The screens tend to be a crutch to NOT DIG. Anyone using the MLs affectively are listening to the tones and might glance at the screens or depth meter. I think the Sovs mor

The big concern is that manufactures like ML have their machines built there. Guess where all those parts end up that FALL OFF THE TRUCKS? It does make you wonder about all those price increases needed. The problems are going to be when these inter the market to private buyers who then dont like them and try to resell them to US. Is there a tell sign.... something we can check to ensure

Its made cheap... because thats what we accept. It rings my bell anymore every time i try and get something fixed.... you get the old.. its cheaper to just buy a new one even if it cost a $1000. We have lost that old farmer mentality where if it broke WE fixed it... never considered buying a new one. We here in the US are the ones who EXPECT $100 or more to even consider working on anythin

Im getting tired of Obummer as well.... hes on TV more than Jay Leno. Come on people give us someone to vote for that aint a clown like Trump. This economy cant handle any more bail outs to banks, big business, reduced jobs, housing markets in the toilet, or the Obummer talk show. Hows that go.... ITS MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW! On the bight side.... gas prices will be reduced just before

It did disappoint me that they knew back in Aug last year and no action was taken until close to election time. It was hard for Obama to not know Bin Laden didnt have a weapon when they were watching it on the situation screen. I guess they needed a legal determination about HEADS OF STATE assassination before he spoke. I did get a chuckle that neither of the former Presidents would be there

Ive never seen an interchangeable coil between companies. Also your machine is a single freq and the ML is a FBS. Ive even seen times when companies make coils that dont work properly on their own machines like their standard coils.... like the numbers or depth is off with a change in size. Hard enough to get interchangeable coils between machines of the same company. Wouldnt it be great f

To me it would be more impressive if the bad guys found out 6 months from now WE LIED. Can you imagine the info that would be gathered in that amount of time from a HVT? You talking about the cock roach affect.... all of them would be scrambling.

Im going to stay friends with Steve(MS)... especially when he gets in a helping mood LOL> Exon profit.... 11 billion for the 1st quarter.... yet we still buy foreign oil and fuel jumps up and up. Are we just another country thats going to convert to a N. American Euro? The feds might as well raise the interest rate no one can get their hands on that incentive money WE gave to the banks. A

I played around a bit today and you are correct at the lower settings semi seems to have the edge.... but as you move up the scale it reveres its self and manual is the king as you loose TID and stability.

semi-auto is an odd bear. I know when you air test the two that auto has a definite cut off where as manual it continues to attempt to id the target. Is it possible it adjusts more than just the sensitivity... like the gain and channel which manual doesnt? Could this lower setting increase the processing ability over manual which might not be correctly set? There could be a point where th

Well put Steve. Funny how wampum beads (gold and silver) have value. The market is moving quickly as it comes to consumed goods like food and gas.... save your metals for things like Steve said... immediate needs. Does anyone have any concerns that the government might start calling in gold and silver? Or since our economy is based more on the economy is that no longer a legal option? Shou

I hear what you are saying about the field reviews... more focus on the positive. There are a lot of excellent machines right now.... or at least those with bells and whistles. I dont rush into buying a newly marketed machine its always nice to see the bugs worked out just like any other product. Another reason i read these forums.... there are a lot of very good people in our hobby with a

Steveg... i agree with your readings and the 29 cond for those dimes. Mine may be off ... but normally its a surface or coin close to surface and raising the coil will get a better read. Ive learned the digital and smartscreen... but i do prefer the smartscreen. Ive had the SE since they first came out so not my first radeo. As far as silver..... well ive been getting my share over a hund

Im in the process of doing my research for a new machine. Fisher interests me... a lot because of Tom and his passion for them. You just dont see that much from the other so called gurus for their machines. TOLH.... ive read somewhere that the Feds are looking at NOT giving credit for some of those coins being returned that we pick up. I know my bank wont even run ANY coins thru their machines and say they no longer have them... ya right. Anyway they bag them up if you dont want to set and roll then and send them directly to the Feds who credit my account.... of course at a price of 10%. If t

I grew up poor on a small country farm back in the day. Joined the military and saw the world... but never got rich at it. Less is easier to live with than you think and you are a lot happier. We have forgotten how to live simply. Its not me but my kids i worry about. A son with a teaching degree... and no job and a daughter who cant find a job that pays more that $15 an hour. The bab

I think we all have to admit no two machines are created equal. There may be exceptions to finding very deep targets with a high freq machine. The MXT is a pretty deep machine at just under 14 kHz, but likes gold. Just 1 kHz difference, the DFX isnt nearly as sensitive to smaller pieces of gold. Freq also determines how well it will handle EMI or soil.

You may have it Caretaker.... people do seem to cherry pick here as well. Even the guys i hunt with tend to leave the wheats. But my post was more about the depth loose i though i was getting when the machine tends to hit pennies over dimes. Im sure its nothing more than whats in the area im hunting and how deep those targets are vs. those being masked. Now Tom has given me a ratio to sho
