I understand these ratios also have to do with the numbers made, carried, lost as well as my desire to dig those unproductive targets. I dont believe it has a lot to do with my tweaking or not knowing my equipment. I hunt with some pretty good hunters and as far as the dealers in the area..... well ill say they sell equipment if you need it. The smartscreen isnt to bad on TID, but i hunt m

Guess it could also have to do with concentration or iron/disc targets as well. Do machines like pennies over dimes? Which do you get a better air test on? Obviously pennies are larger and thicker. I tend to get about 12 wheats to a silver dime.... but im sure its my location or even my hunting style. It is interesting to see what the ratios are at the end of each the year. If nothing e

Tom doesnt it also have something to do with how close you swing the coil to the ground and the depth of target? I know im a coil scrapper and tiny objects ALWAYS register deeper and sometimes even change reading or location on my SE. Ive learned to raise my coil a tad and center the target when i recheck a target. Because if i dont i find targets tend to hit at the back of the coil or near

Im an Exp SE guy. Ive noticed there are days where the machine tends to key in on pennies or dimes. When it likes the pennies my depth seems to suffer. I havent noticed it being the soil or moisture. But what i do notice is if its hitting dimes im getting much deeper old coins. Do you think this is more ME than the machine? Or just more pennies in the area hitting in the dime range?

Well lets hope China whose buying most of the gold and sticking us with forged coins dont do the same the Hunts did. This will have a real affect on coin collectors as well. As the numbers of cull coins are melted and taken out of circulation the prices of those collectable ones will increase. Of course those investors who REQUIRE grading will only increase their standard to keep most peopl

Aaron we traveled full time in an RV for about 5 years and spent most winters out west. But the last 4 has been in Fla. I loved St. Augustine, but the wife needed to be near family a little farther south. One year we started at St Augustine and used a winter moving down to the keys then back up the other side looking for a location we thought we might enjoy. I think its going to be a blas

So you think its acting much like the reaction you might get from the release of a small nuke? Enough charge to affect the normal flow of EMI in an area? I should be digging the heck out of targets with all the lightning we are getting up here right now lol.

Well looks like out home purchase in Englewood, Fla is going thru. Got some ends to clean up here so by fall i hope to be looking for a water machine. I have an SE and it did very well there the past 3 years. But ill be looking for one to get wet. Im liking the Whites DF.... but will keep my mind open and do a lot of research and hunt with a guy or two i know down there to see how their

Those pesty screw caps really make you check them twice. Crowns and pull tabs are pretty specific on the SE as to where they locate on the smartscreen. Beaver tails can be a challenge if you are digging for nickels. If you arent cherry picking then no doubt you arent going to dig just the good targets. For me, i still like the ML even thou its slow there is a lot of information on that de

Rover... does Fisher make it? I went to their website and didnt find it or over looked it. I was going to down load a manual. I might get it off Kellyco's site.

Rover.... im still interested in the machine. Just because its got a lot of the capabilities id like to have. Any idea how it would do on IHs, coppers, buttons, or coins in a field? I do a good bit of field hunting but because of the bad soil and sometimes deep iron you really loose depth.

Thou i do change my settings occasionally, especially when going from Ferr to Cond sounds for the most part once you get them set you arent doing a lot of adjustments with the Explorer. I dont think there is a better deep silver machine.... but, gold and nickels are a challenge. I get my share of nickels but you have to concentrate to hear that slight difference. Now IHs shouldnt have been

Now ive read the BBS has 17 freqs per channel (11). These freqs are preset 1.7khz apart. Ive read the FBS use 28 freqs that are not PRESET but random per channel (11). Now Tom did i misunderstand that it just doesnt matter which channel is used because its such a minor adjustment? There are a LOT of choices for these freqs when you are talking 1 to 100 khz. Ive always been of the opin

I looked at the TDI... great machine, but its not waterproof is it? Im looking for something that can get wet. Infinium looking pretty good. You are a pretty good salesman Rover.

Ive not seen many electronics that didnt have some issues.... thats the nature of the beast. Service at ML has suffered... but seems to have been addressed.

Thanks Kevin... good info. I saw it was a gold machine as well. Sounds a little more complicated to get correct in a salty situation, but may be worth it. I didnt want to appear stupid Jim, but i do wish Tom could explain a little further. Thanks Dew

Thanks Tom and others that posted. Thanks Rover... especially for the info on the infinium. Im used the DFX and SE so i dont mind a challenge. Im seriously looking at the Whites Dual Field.... but the infinium still has me curious. Im not one who buys a machine and puts it in the closet.... trust me what ever i get ill use the paint off it. Tom i assume you are talking about how frustrat

PIs - 13 years ago
Im looking to buy a water machine soon. I know what a disc machine gives me in and out of the water based on location. Now what does a PI offer over that except depth. Do some have more than a single tone? Now the big question.... which PI do you like best and why over a disc machine? Infinium has always been mentioned as a versatile machine.... yes i never see a used on for sale or hear

I spent 6 years in Germany the fests were about the only place i drank hot beer. Of course nothing elce is cold so if you have a choice of a small HOT cola or liter of COLD beer for the same price i went for the beer. The real trick was 1 liter of German beer is nothing like a Bud.... you start slurring you words and walking funny haha. Enjoy the Beer.... but dont miss out on some of that F

I think it will be interesting..... however, you mentioned you were familiar with the F75 and were asking for settings on the Etrac. If the Etrac is close to the SE most people tend to find their own settings that work in their location. I think you are going to have to spend some time with the Etrac to be convenced one way or the other. My rule..... never trade a machine until its paid for

Doesnt all detectors have coil shutdown with a disc target? Much like a sponge being squeezed as it passes over a target.... which will cause any to loose depth. That being so the more sensitivity you add the deeper the detector attempts to ID targets.... creating a larger volume of material to be processed and more shutdown.... even the Etrac.

I noticed that last year on a beach using a ML. There was a point, which happened to be sensitivity 29, where there was no improvement in depth. I did find more sensitivity to nearby small surface targets with higher sensitivity. I agree id like to see more shared info from testing being done on detectors. It would save a lot of our time. I guess the question we would have is what if our d

Makes you wonder why it takes like 7 clicks before you start hearing the threshold. There has to be a point like was said that there is no benefit or where it might be more beneficial NOT to have a threshold, like on a beach. Personally i like and feel i need that threshold while say field hunting. I like to know when im in and out of a target zone... the field is a big place.

Ive used the whites machines and most want it done more for EMI. Same with the ML since it might change the channel and freq. I air balance occasionally if the ground starts changing or i notice more EMI.... otherwise im hoping the machine is doing a good part of it.

I noticed you didnt say CZ21 Tom.... is there something about the upgrade that turned you off? Can you still pick those 20s up and can they be treaked? What can some one tell me about the Infinium LS?

Tom.... now the big question... which do you prefer the 20 or Xcal? Thanks goodmore. Im just not very up on the PIs. Do any have at least a duel tone or something to keep you from digging everything? Otherwise an Xcal in AM wont get as deep, but at least i have some idea as to what i might drown for lol. I dont know about the trash that might be in the water obviously it might be diffe
