I see notch as another tool, but the user must decided when it's appropriate to utilize it.
Ultimately, and to your point, it's a good argument to dig everything as there's no doubt that we miss a lot of good targets by assuming their trash, or even iron.

I've been real happy with 3H tones (nickels get a high tone). You get so much audio feedback with the F75/LTD that a little less audio feedback to decipher is a good think in my book (less audio fatigue), you still have the TID #'s to help decide dig/no dig.

With gold hovering around $1200 an ounce, I thought I'd see how the F75 LTD would be as a jewelery hunter by hitting some fresh water lake beaches and tot-lots to test what combination of settings was the most effective.
After trying JE, DE, PF and BP modes, along with the various tone settings, I think I came up with a winner - boost mode with 2F tones and if possible, disc 0 (with not

... IF you notched out the first iron segment (1-7) it makes the machine pretty quite/stable, squelching out small bits of iron and such, yet you don't loose the depth boost as discussed above.
The scenario where you weren't able to see the dime until you set the disc to 2, I wonder if there's more to that then just having the disc @ 2. In other words, maybe it would react som

Mark I believe I read (and I can't for the life of me recall where) that it was between 1" - 3" depending on the usual variables (soil, target, mineralization, sensitivity, etc).

I did a little night hunting with the F75 LTD in a pitch dark area, and the backlight was so bright it was blinding. In areas with partial light, it's not really a problem, but I really wish FT would've designed a way to disable and/or dim the backlight.
Is it possible to add a switch to disable the backlight?
Thanks,
Brian

Tom would notching back in the foil segments after increasing the disc over 20, get the depth boost back ? I guess you're really saying I'm better off running it with no disc, vs disc (and notch) above 20 for the depth boost.
Disc of 2, wow that's going to really increase the noise level (I was really enjoying the quite ride on disc 7 :-) I set the disc to 21 while hunting fo

Tom,
Welcome back!
I have a question regarding this thread topic. I've been testing my LTD and have been hunting in disc 7 to knock out the small iron and it's been running very nicely. Now I read this thread and my take away is that I'll get more depth by running my disc under 5 or higher then 20.
Yesterday I was hunting and found a nice 14K mens wedding band and it h

gates this was posted on another forum by a new LTD owner:
There was a "Read This First" paper in the box. I noticed something interesting in it. It said "You may find that sensitivity increases as you increase the discrimination level". I put it to the test. Normally, on the F 75, as you increase your discrimination you lose depth. I tested it at disc. level of 5 in DE and

Their using the same control housing/rod as the new Teknetics. Take a Teknetics Omega control unit with a reprogrammed DSP and new faceplate, stick it on a Tek Gamma s-rod, add a nugget shooter coil and ta-da you have a Gold Bug III !!
It'll be interesting to see how it performs, the previous Gold Bugs are well know for their gold sniffing ability.

Went hunting with Low-Boy, Crosby and Rybo in SF for the afternoon and lost my silver streak (although Rybo found 2 Barber dimes & a merc with the 3D, and Low-Boy found a 1950s rosie with the F75). Crosby found a BUffalo and some wheats with an Omega.
Good hunting group, everyone was finding stuff.

I've only used the Propointer with my F70 & CZ70, and never got a lick of interference. I did a bit of relic hunting with my F70 in AM using the ProPointer and didn't notice any extra noise. I carry the pinpointer in the 7-8 o'clock position of my belt (only turning it on when recovering a target) and swing my detector with my right hand, but even when probing for my targets w

Tom I'm really struggling with picking the T2 Ltd or F75 Ltd. Thus far about 90% of my hunting thus far is coin-shooting. There's some old sites with a lot of iron I'd like to hunt for coins, which the T2 seems well suited for as well.
I've read many posts where users feel the T2 is a better coin-shooter (better at negating bottle caps, with better tones) and the F75 is a

romanko on the pinpointer topic - I've been running Sunrays on most of my machines, but have also used the Centec and TinyTecs. The Sunray seems to work the best on Minelab machines (Explorer and Sovereign), but to be honest I'm not so thrilled with them on my Fishers (have one for my Coinstrike, ID Edge, F70 and Sovereign). Although you do get the benefit of using the detectors TID a

Brad and Tom do you know if Fisher fixed the F75 disc "glitch" on the new F75 Ltd??
If you ran the disc at 4 or higher, you lost ~ 4" of depth due to a software bug. Apparently they were never able to figure out how to fix the code on the F75.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for posting your results.
This is very interesting, such an imperceptible amount of depth increase, which on that merit alone, wouldn't be worth the expenditure, BUT on the fact that the fringe depth targets are lighting up with much more pronounced audio is a very positive result.
One question for you - how was the VDI accuracy on these fringe depth targets? Is it

Looking forward to your tests Tom. I got my test garden started, nothing complicated yet just a silver dime @ 8" and a copper memorial penny @ 6". They need some time in the ground to build a matrix, as preliminary tests were abysmal (a friend did the same thing and said it took a few months for the matrix to develop so his detectors could see the coins).
I wonder who's testin

As I know both the standard T2 and F75 are fairly equivocal in performance, with some liking one over the other for various reasons I was hoping to see someone testing the T2 Ltd as well.
Anyone getting their hands on one soon to test?
