Last time I was out detecting I was summoned to find a guy's keys in the snow, in the woods, with sucess, that was a few weeks ago. So all I have to write about is the weather, hope you don't mind.
We have accumulated about 12 to 15 inches of snow here in SE, PA. The weather from yesterday thru today is making for some rare sights and sounds.
Yesterday there was a sort of mist in th

That's not a bad idea. You may have to loose the day job, and take on some assistants. I'd love to move to Florida and serve an apprenticeship. ;-)

Hi All,
Update;
Just got a call from Mike Scott. I told him the symptoms with the f-75 coil. He noted the RA # that Fisher Labs gave me from when I sent it in last Dec. He said he would get on it right away and send me a new coil. We shot the breeze for a minite or two.Thats the short of it. Thaaat's customer service.

I don't think Tom wants to or has time to be a "policeman". In my opinion Tom is a humble layed back kinda guy and will probably let things play/fizzle out.
I actually get a chuckle when I read stoopstroops' comments, and how he mixes his comments with his advertising, kudos to you Bart. I/we don't have to read his advertisments as we don't have to read the ads

My guess is they would treat the dredgings as toxic waste. Over the years man has dumped plenty of "bad stuff" into our rivers. It settles to the bottom and is in layers. I'd like to see the test results of what's in the river bed. There is history as we like to find it, in coins and relics and, there is also history of what man has dumped into the water.

Men by nature, are explorers, women included. We explore everything, from the infinitely small to the boundless universe, always looking for new discoverys. Everything we search for is an exploration, an adventure, it's who we are, we can't help it. In my oponion, it's mans only instinct, our natural aptitude.

I was a little fearful posting about the service problem. I certanly don't want to discourage anyone from buying Fisher products. There are probably more instances of good service than not so good. I like their products and would buy again. The F-75 has treated me well, I used it hard for years and want to continue using it. They give a 5 year warrantee and I do expect them to honor it to th

Markg,
My f-75 coil was falsing when I touched or wiggeled the coil wire @ the coil. Even tapping it lightly with a stick it would false. I sent the coil in Dec 3rd didnt get back untill the 12th of Jan. I understand the hollidays and all but it came back with a new connector at the head ( not needed) and the wire boot at the coil was sealed. Same coil wire. The coil still falses, nothing has c

Too much illogicalness, as usual with politicans, the're all over the place with too many faces, all with forked tongues.
Progressives think the opposite of the way our founding Fathers thought. They think government should think for us all and they know what's best for us. They have been trying to change America for over a century, and are slowly succeeding.

Kieth, have you done any comps with the Troy x5? I looked it up, it looks well built. I read it will air test a nickel at 17 inches, is that true?
Can you tell me all you know about it? I also see it lists for about $1000.

Thats a good thought Caretaker, The air was filled with lead for many years due to leaded gasoline. Did the it stick to the pine sap on the needles? food for thought. I read an article about meteors. Some people claim they hear hissing sounds while they were watching meteor showers, thinking they were hearing them as they flamed through the atmosphere..we know that's not the case. Later some

I'd like to know, from any very experienced E-trac users in SE Pa, their best program for finding old coins in iron infested sites. I have a book from Andy Sabisch but I'd like to hear from someone local. A friend let me use his E-trac but I only have about 20 hrs on it and I like the machine. If you would take the time explaning why you use your settings that would be great.Thanks.

Hi Everyone, I received a call from a good friend yesterday telling me that a guy he knows (Tom B.) was out in a wooded park behind his house with his little kids playing in the snow and pulling a sled around. Tom got back home and discovered his key ring with all of his house & car & truck keys were missing. My friend asked if I'd be interested in helping look for the keys with my d

Tom, the more I read about things I don't understand in this forum, the more I want to learn. I would like to learn how to build a metal detector from scratch. Not one from a transister radio, a real working one.
The only experience I have with electronics is when in high school, where one year I had basic electric shop. The shop teacher gave us a wireing problem as homework. When I got ho

I went to Houston, Texas during the boom in the late 70's and learned the hard way about fire ants. In PA we don't have fire ants, at least none that I've come across. Usually the plug is out before I notice an ant colony.

I have come across that many times. I always feel a little bad, thinking that I messed up a lot of hard work..especially when the ants scrambel to pick up the eggs to relocate & protect them. Even disturbing earthworms and beetle larve bothers me a bit. I guess as I get older, life seems more precious. Allthough, I don't have a problem smashing a mosquito or swatting a fly... go figure.

That's it, in a large nutshell synthnut. If the pridefull owners were true to themselves, they wouldn't settle for the shortcommings and problems with a new detector.

I have the F-75 and have the same problem sometimes when I lay it down to dig, like Jackpine says it sounds like R2D2. The way I get around that is by pushing the off button on my Grey Ghost Ultimate Headphones..good feature to have on the headphones.

Hello Nutriasub, I run my f-75 at 0 disc with sensitivity at max and 4 tone. Yes, it will drive some crazy but I want to hear what I'm walking over. Gives me a better feel of the area I'm hunting. It didn't take me long to get use to all the chatter, but the chatter is usually all the bits of metal in the ground. The f-75 will detect just about everything, thats how fast it is. Eve

I have about 2-1/2 acres to play with, which should be plenty, but so far there are mostly bad zones.
The front has underground electric to the house, fios lines and the very front has a step down transformer on the telepole. Eighty percent of the property has trees that are no less than eighty feet tall so the soil around them is tough with roots. At the very back there is an old farmers dump

Seems to me some of the mods have a little power trip going on..it's human like and we see it day in and out everywhere. Would be ok with me if they could dial it back a bit and just keep the sites civilized, starting with the posters being civil. There's no excuse to be ill-natured.
Bye the way Go-Rebels, good points.

Hi Earthman, I did read the posts before they were gone. The response to your post (Tom's Review) was a wee bit suprising. That guy certainly interpreted something different than what was intended. He sounded like someone who just quit tobacco, good luck to him if he is.

A friend of mine let me borrow his E-trac and so far I have read the manual and some of Andy Sabisch's hand book and also put on about 16 hunt hours with the machine. The fields around here are frozen but in the woods, I guess, due to the leaves turning into mulch and generating a little heat, the ground is diggable.
I like the E-trac. It's not as complicated as I thought it was going

I read the posts over there at Finds. I didn't see anything about bashing, or untruths told. I'm scratching my head..I don't get it. There are some tightly wound folks over there...did I miss something?
If any moderators from Finds would like to explain to me why these men were kicked off the site, please, I'd like to know. And be specific if you would.
Thanks
