My deepest was a few 18" clad dimes on the lake michigan shoreline. 15 years ago, using a sovereign xs w8" coin search coil. Sensitivity as hi as it could be run, disc as low as possible, with iron mask on.Listening for a tiny bump in the threshhold sound. It must have been just the right dampness, and that machine was a good one. Wish I kept it.

I put this bad boy on my safari today, and headed to the beach, on an inland lake. I set the sensitivity on 18( of 20). No emi problems, nice liteweight coil. This beach turned out to be picked clean, but I picked up a tiny melted nugget of aluminum, 3/8" long , 2" deep, 1/4"diameter lead sinker at 3", an old style pulltab, ring with tail attached 10" deep, and my onl

Thanks for your comeback. We all realize here bashing is for other forums, lol. I know you had great success with the atpro in iron, it loooks like you found an awesome iron machine. thanks for sharing. It raises up everyones knowledge base. With the influx of european machines, the us companies have their work cut out for them keeping up, or surpasing . Competition is goood .

I bought a sizeable package from New england detectors 2 months ago. They blew everyone away on price, but they do not communicate well.

As the aging process doesn't quit, and gravity seems to get stronger every year. I like the minelabs, but may have to switch next year, if they do not lighten up.

i picked up a nel sharpshooter for my safari . I compared it to my sef 6x 8" coil, and in the air tests, it picks up a dime an inch farther, and is a lot quieter coil.So far in the field my deepest dime is 7", ( having used it 2 hours).

It looks like this thread has alot of our European friends. I have a question. Detech has come out with a EDS metal detector. Has anyone used it? Does it really have the fantasic depth that the manufacturer claims it has? No Dealers for that machine here in the USA, and there is very little info out there. I see Joan Allen in the UK does sell the machine, but again, very little info.

troy - 13 years ago
Ive heard that troy was working on a unit that should be out any year now. Ive heard that for the last 10 years. Im thinkin within the next year, there could be a flood of new machines coming out, as there have not been many new models lately other than the AT series, and FTP models.

Tom, at the fort where you excavated a 5' x 5' area, 9" deep, you mentioned that there were non ferrous targets among the rust and metal flakes , in the 1 or 2 inch deep dirt on the bedsheet, that were not detectable using the detectors you used. If you could go back in time, would the atpro have had better success picking up those good targets amongst the iron, utilizing the new

The operators at finds are really a bunch of childish individuals. The guv just put up a message regarding those outlaw ukraine coils on the etrac forum. They remind me of politicians,.....control, control, control

As a mechanic has alot of tools and each has its special use, which machines do you use for which type of hunting, and what are their stong points? Why do they excel for you for that particular hunt?
I use a safari, as it has excellent depth and discrimination qualities for manicured lawn hunting, which is 95% of my hunting. I will be picking up an atpro soon for water hunting. looking forwar

There is a guy called iron mask that is an authorized nel dealer on the minelab owners forum that sells the 12 x 13 for a tad over $200, w/ free shipping.
Buying it on ebay will cost around $250.
That 13' detech ultimate coil looks tempting too, and weighs less than the minelab pro coil.
