Phil........ for several years now.,.,.,.,.,., I have been going through several mental gyrations regarding this exact same question (Tarsacci VS Manticore). Let me see if I an make my dilemma/problem a bit more obvious:
* In my test-garden.......... Manticore is clear winner ..... with depth AND ID. (((Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Things are looking good for Manticore))).
* In the real-World..........

The Manticore with 8" coil....slightly exceeds the performance of the Tarsacci with 11" coil.,.,.,.,.,., on a Nickel,,,, in a wet-salt environment.
The Manticore with 8" coil....far, far exceeds the performance of the Tarsacci with 11" coil............. on small & tiny gold,,,, in a wet-salt environment.
JUST DON'T ADD ANY BLACK SAND IN THE EQUATION!

LCPM........ I have my eyes (heavily) upon Nexus; yet, the specific data I am waiting to see/hear/receive-feedback......... is just not happening. (Maybe for a reason!!!)!!!
As far a Rutus......... I know even less about.
As it stands right now............ I have extreme faith in Dimitar Gargov & crew (that's Tarsacci).,.,.,.,.,.,., Minelab...........and XP. They 'cut-the-grad

The Dues-2 and the Manticore are fairly comparable. (I have slight bias more towards ML Manticore).
I still have some concerns about the Nexus.
Tarsacci with standard coil is also another VERY formidable option. , . , . , . especially for relic hunting.

For my all-out/serious pit-digs......... I use a (N42 strength) 350-lb pull Rare Earth magnet....... that is approx 4"x2.5"x1" in size. I have it mounted on one end of a 1x4 stick...... that is about 5-feet long. This way..... I can remain standing.,.,.,.,., swinging coil with one hand.........then using magnet with other hand.,.,.,to find all the ferrous targets the swinging coil

PREMIUM video-capture/example of silent masking.,.,.,.,.,.,. of which I have been preaching/teaching about .....for decades. And............ I'm glad you said: There may still be some masking taking place.......even with the best Noise Cancel channel. VERY important point.

possum ..... sure:
Here's how psychotic I have been able to run Sens with M8 coil.....on the beach:
Beach Low Conductors Mode
Recovery Speed 4
Ground Balance = usually 5..... occasionally 6
Ferrous Limits: Upper = 4
Ferrous Limits: Lower = 0
Prospecting Audio
Nothing Notched
Volume = 25
Iron Volume = 25
Simple
Sens 30 !!!!!!

The genre that manufactures have self-incarcerated into.........Mfr VS Mfr...........in competition of: "Who can build the lightest coil".........has really hurt us.
Their thought-process (as of current-day) is: Lighter & better.
The correct thought-process should be: Better & lighter.
In other words: Do not compromise performance ....for lightness.

Lawrenzo........ yes, mineralization will 'shut-down' proper/correct ID on SMF detectors.,.,.,.,.,., especially at depth. Some SMF's will be worse/better than others; yet, still within similar ball-park.
In my nearly mineral-free Florida dirt........ the EQX-900 will indeed acquire (just barely) a 14" deep dime.....with reasonable ID...........IF, IF, IF EMI is mitigated. EMI

Re: Tom - 7 months ago
Here's an example:
In a perfect-World sterilized test-garden....... the Legend will detect (and with reasonable ID) a 14.0" deep dime whilst in 4-KHz single-frequency. When I switch to M1, M2 or M3........ Legend will not detect the 14" deep dime ..... at all. But.... it WILL detect a 10" deep dime in M1, M2 or M3; yet, it'll ID the dime as 'iron'..... with o

mida....... I have standard yellow sand .... here in East Coast Florida. On the West Coast of Florida...... they have the whitest of WHITE sand.......and it is beautiful!!! My East Coast sand is standard/linear all the way up the Coast of the United States Eastern Seaboard. There are a few spots where it is alkali AND mineralization (black sand).,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,., but....for the most-part.......

Morgan...... I have posted the fundamental error multiple times....... but.......in a nutshell:
Single Frequency 4KHz is much deeper than SMF Multi-Frequency on Legend.
I think some other folks have also started seeing/witnessing/experiencing this.

Bob........Absolutely. This little M8 coil is (on average) 3X more sensitive to tiny gold......when compared to the standard 11" coil. And...... even more sensitive to tiny gold than 11" coil whilst IN the saltwater.
BUT........ there is a caveat! BEWARE! If you keep Sens on the same settings that you use for the 11" coil........ there is no performance gain/difference. BUT (agai

Yes...... Recovery speeds of 7 or 8 on Legend.
There is a fundimental electronic architect engineering design error with Legend........ that prevents me from graduating into the real-World with Legend. . . . . . . . so I cannot fully answer your iron/filter/recovery-speed question.
EQX-900........ superior to EQX-800.....and by a fairly large margin.
Manticore....... superior to EQX-900.....

It seems to me....the Impact unmasks slightly better than Legend. . . . . even when the recovery speed is high. Recovery speed does not seem to be the magic answer. (Other engineering factors come into play).

I'm just glad this information...is of some help.
steveg....... I (primarily) see this phenomenon on the wet-salt beach. Example: A clad quarter ID's as a '+88'. If the quarter is about 10" deep.......and I don't have the coil 'centered' over the quarter........ it'll ID as a '-88' (negative 88). If the quarter is 18" or 19" deep

LCPM......... I consider the Deus-2 & Manticore the top simultaneous multi-frequency platforms out there. Because the two are so close in overall performance............it then becomes a 'brand favored' choice.
In medium (or higher) mineralization dirt......... I still lean towards the Tarsacci MDT. , . , . , . , . which is neither SMF or hardly VLF.
steveg....... yes!!! In fac

If a multi-frequency detector is engineered properly.......... it should go deeper ------and.......especially.......have better ID------ over any of its single frequencies.
The entire premise of multi-frequency platforms.......are to find a target BEST....with ONE of its multi-frequencies.......then: utilize the other frequencies to ENHANCE the one particular frequency that found that particula

Yes. . . . 9" coil i substantially more hydrodynamic.,.,.,.,.,., for two reasons. First........ a smaller coil is naturally more hydrodynamic. Secondly...... the ribbing of the coil is also more hydrodynamic.
Marketeer's are all about: "THE NUMBERS".
There's quite a few requests (over the years) for oddball-sized coils; yet, there appears to be a general consensus (w
