Always said I wouldnt. Came across a unique site/opportunity in the last 6 months and have accumulated about 400-500 civil war bullets with more coming. Sold/traded for detecting items at a local shop..

Unless it's a machine that actually has a transmit power adjustment, your not changing the foot print of the coil. Run it as hot as you can, the higher gain/sensitivity will alert you to borderline signals

Used a 1266 as a teenager. Prior to the Explorers THE machines around here were 1266s, blue and grays, and dmc's. Mine was really deep in the decent central VA dirt. Lord help you around an electric fence though lol. I preffered the smoothness of my DMC, the 1266 was really busy audio wise but heck it may have been me. I ended up trading it for a blue and Grey pro.

It's a coast guard button. I found an identical one from the "revenue cutter service" with rcs at the top... Neat find that'll look good in the case.

Just bought one. Haven't used it yet, it just came in so assuming it's got the later firmware. Very busy with work and kids, but just playing around in the yard I think I'm going to like it. Was aware of the update via forums and facebook. My dealer was completely unaware of the update, but that's not suprising.
The only thing I could suggest be done differently is make t

Button is off 20th century set of overalls, civilian. The train motif was widely used. It had a iron back, which is usually gone when you dig them

Toss up between my trime or 17__ reale. My trime is worn a bit but I love that coin. The Reale is cool as I found it on my family's land and with a fair degree of certainty know I found it 151 years to the day that a rebel soldier lost it on a rainy day in april along the retreat.
Got a jewelry kick a couple years ago. Found alot of smaller items, but did get a hanker men's 14k with

My local confederate staff officer button. Was digging in a house site with a DMC-IIB as a teenager. Got a loud signal from a large iron peice off a stove. Flipped it out and there she was. Blatant luck. I'd never even found an eagle button at the time.

An enfield ram rod from where rebels where scrapping with yankee calvary. Hunting with a bounty hunter in no motion all metal as that was the only way to get any depth.

Thanks for the link TNSS and info steve. I have the cash set aside but am in no hurry. Hope the firmware change is effective. A fast, sparky, VCO equipped, user friendly sweep speed machine with a full spectrum of tones is something few have pulled off.

Beyonder you missed my point. I don't read threads if the title that has no interest to me. But threads about specific, fairly on point topics too often get flooded with people bitching a bunch of nonsense, usually consisting of the prerequisite jab at a first texas or whites. You couldn't wade through new info about the mx sport for the gripping about what whites ought to do from folk

That's the problem with people. Some gripe no matter what. This company has gone out of their way to have a dialogue with its base and allow enough info to roll out for detectorists to make an informed decision almost site unseen. It's not just above, the paragraphs about how companies "ought" to run their business are ridiculous. Traditionally the great thing about this forum

Awesome finds. That heart is priceless. I always check fallen trees. Have yet to find much, the guy who introduced me to relic hunting found a sword in a root ball many years ago.

That's right cabin fever I forgot, thanks. My gripe would be it's still (reportedly) no deeper than disc modes so I wouldn't have a use for it in our decent soil.. Alot of us would use thewhites in all metal and check targets in disc mode.

If you're mainly an open ground relic hunter the T2, especially a boost model is the better machine due to its outstanding ergonomics and useful all metal mode. (Racer all metal is useless IMO). And a boost model will be deeper. The racer red is a good machine, but struggles on 9" or more minie' balls in my very good ground. It does jump on buttons though. I swear it's as dee

I bet he's fun at parties.
That bottom picture is clearly not man made. Look at the scale of the tiny holes vs the blades of grass. Looks like a skunk digging for grubs to me. Sadly, the idiots from diggers are who we are to many. Alot of relic hunters know more about the artifacts and their provenance than archies.

X2 on imaging. There are a few guys quietly using GPR already for civil war sites. It has along way to go however. But looking at the advancements fishing depth finders have obtained in just 10 years is insane. I'm sure the R&D on this type of tech may be something that is hard for a lowly metal detector mfg., but it could always trickle down from other fields. We've seen nanotechno

Yes. There are so many high frequency units between the 2 brands I can't even name them. I'd be happy with a 7-8khz as an all arounder. Curious if they'd be deeper in trash.

Never was big on heavy serrated teeth on a digging tool. It rips at grass roots if your hunting a manicured lawn, and if a tree roots to big to cut with a sharp blade and some force Im not gonna waste a bunch of time pawing and sawing with one of those tools. Most of the time you can go around and under in no time. A sharp, smooth edged tool cuts a much neater plug. I have the blade from an old h
