To go out with friends and hunt (and not put on internet) isnt exactly hermit like. Just be smart. The internet is worldwide. Some public sites here have been closed because of bragging to the broader public. You can be a respectful hunter, but when one finds something of interest (and ends up in the local Newspaper) the flood gates open.......other hunters might not fill in their holes or pick u

Posting online is evidence. Be careful.....too many searching to legally or illegally take your finds or hunting sites. Dont get me wrong, we should hunt legally. However, if I were to post that I found $20 on 10th Street.....least 50 people would claim it. Does anyone here remember when TH and author Karl Von Mueller house got broke into???......too many details, including addresses in his books

For many years I always had a 1265 or 66, along with one other. I like to have a least two machines....each purposely different from each other. The one that I sold that I wish I had back was a Gold Mountain 1650. Great at unmasking. It had two levels of disc...high and low and factory manual GB. Ran at 15 kHz.....same frequency as the Garrett Stinger. My King Cobra is still a keeper. It is modi

So far the positive results are so minor, it isnt worth the risk of disabling another working function (in older version). Too early....verdict still out.

Minelab Safari is underrated. One of my favorite tube videos on it....search ...Gordon Heritage Minelab Safari. The first Sovereign was noisy, but it had both the toggle to turn Iron Mask off and also to flip the multi tones to single tone. The solid white 8' Coinsearch coil is one of the favorites, but not waterproof. The XS is said to have the best tones. Would there be another model metal

Enjoy everyones input on the 1266....shows how much of an impression it's left. The 1266 has raw power and light weight...balanced. Keith, viewed some of your Sovereign videos. Both you and Clive have pointed out its unmasking abilities in large iron. I had a variety of coils for my Sovereign Elite. One coil was the hated 8" concentric coil. Found a CW bullet flattened out like a Checke

When the 1266 came out, some actually went back to using the 1265 because the 1265 is smoother on hot ground....not as noisy and easier to hear the round sounds. The round solid coils are better than the spider coils. The 1235, 1265, 1266, 1270 coils are interchangable. Never used the 1270....build quality is known to be bad.compared to earlier models.

The Tejon is one of Tesoro's greats. Keith likes it.Unmasks better than some newer models. The Tejon loves to eat batteries and GB adj is touchy....otherwise nice. Love the concentric coils in iron.

Most metal detectors Disc and ID (if applicable), with the exception of the Minelab FBS, are unreliable at depth (+5 inches)........ this includes the 1266. The 1266 is a pure deep relic machine.....nearly 30 years old. In an old site where you basically dig everything its great (in my soil). Iron next to non-ferrous sounds too good....I dig it. Thus I found a good target that the Etrac (FBS) m

The Fisher 1265 and 1266 were easy to use, dependable, and efficient. I had one for years with zero problems. I miss that old Fisher.....I had the same feelings when I sold my vintage 1978 Toyota Celica. Last I heard the guy is still driving it....lol

Comparison videos. I remember when the Blisstool guys would go to group hunts asking strangers to get a signal on a deep target.....of course the Blisstool won out with a loud hard hit. The Tube videos left many hunters disgusted with their personal machines. Bitter sweet commercial. Testing has its place, but real life hunts are where it counts.

Cal dont let one bad apple steer your freedom of choice. Do what you want. To me if its not a Pulse machine or true multi-frequency (Minelab) its just another single frequency VLF. This includes Nokta, Tarsacci, XP, and Vista. Heard it said that the MD-Tech is a combination of VLF and Pulse. If it finds stuff call it what you want. I mainly coin shoot.....just not for me.

Agree with Keith. After all these years the Explorer or Etrac is still the best for finding deep silver. Not the best at unmasking, but the audio and consistent ID (even at depth) is super in a trashy Park. Add the Sunray inline probe and it's a game changer. Searchin

1266 very deep relic machine. Early one had the white spider coil. Just had to know how to decode the snap, crackle, pop sounds. Easiest way to smooth out the 1266 is to use the 8" solid white coil from the 1265. I preferred the newer, later version with drop in battery packs...no wires to break. The very first version of the 1265 actually shared coils with the 1260, had a different style co

The Shadow x5 (18 kHz) could probably hit it, but the GB problem would still apply. Low frequency machines seem to GB much more smooth/stable.....but not that great for jewelry.

Whenever I'm on the verge of getting a new machine I always check Keith's tube channel. Tests aside, I especially like the real time field hunts.....very revealing in an area already hunted with other machines.

The waterproofing problem has been ongoing with manufacturers. No matter the 3030 or the Nox....Minelab is just one of many. You see all these gasket upgrades or mods to seal it better. Grease, no grease.....ect, ect... I do wonder about how harsh salt water is in keeping it sealed. Perhaps simpler designs would be better....like waterproof pinpointers. Thanks

Nox...water resistant at best. All machines will eventually leak, but the only detector models that were truely waterproof (diving) was the Fisher 1280x, CZ20, CZ21, and original Fisher Impulse. The JW Fishers pulse is supposed to be diver worthy,,,,,maybe. Never heard of the Nokta water machines leaking...LOL. I have and love the Nox 800, but not for underwater.

TN...Quite the list. Not sure of the dates. Nokta-Makro had an early pinpointer then a waterproof one. The Nokta Fors Core and Fors Relic were in there somewhere. FT had the F/pulse pinpointer. Minelab also had a couple pinpointers. Thanks....never understood the T2-Classic, is this selling a recycled product? Maybe like the new Atari classic. Prior to the LTD and Plus models, both T2 and F75 ha

Good thing FT hired all these key (Whites) engineers....if not, they would be going at a slower than (current) snail mail's pace. That's the way it feels when comparing them to Nokta.

As mentioned, Whites has been struggling for years. Jimmy Sierra........Whites fired him back in the Spring of 2016. I'm sure there is more to the story. Jimmy Sierra was very loyal.
