The FBS units are still tops at identifying deep silver with ID accuracy. I think it was Andy Sabisch (speaking of FBS) had mentioned that when using the Fast recovery (high trash) that the ID accuracy would slightly suffer. Now with the Nox is there a way to slow it down and maybe have better ID accuracy at depth. If so....my hope for the next generation Nox is that the numeric target ID will be

I have both digital and analog model detectors because they keep finding things behind each other. However, the beep-and-dig machines are way faster for me. Tone ID has been a blessing. Screens, for me are distracting and is an extra step in determining to dig or not.

Why duel?? When trying out a new metal detector, don't feel obligated to get rid of your favorite old machine. If you can afford it...own two machines of your choice and enjoy each of their strengths. Use both as a team effort, not constantly trying to out hunt each other. No worries

Any machine can be used to cherry pick. The point is, if you have more than one model, choose the best for the job. For me it is whatever I own that has the most accurate ID at depth. If you have just one metal detector try slowing down, adjusting the settings or using a different coil to see if that helps with ID accuracy. Some other models offer the use of a concentric coil....this will help

I had mentioned that it would be nice to have both a Nox (multi-IQ) and FBS machine....Etrac / Explorer. FBS performance is neck and neck for experienced users of each model. Never had a CTX so cant comment. The Nox solved the weakness of the FBS by its great umasking abillity. At the cost of ID accuracy. Sometimes one has to cherry pick (Etrac), especially if you have one shot at a location and

The Nox will detect (unmask) more non-ferrous targets than the Etrac.....including a ton more non-ferrous trash. If you are willing to dig it all, you will by default, find more good targets. The Etrac or Explorer, on the other hand, has more accurate ID (especially at depth) and so better cherry picker. It would be ideal to own both the Nox and Etrac, this should cover most situations.

Basically Nokta to keep up with the variety of coils. A machine that can use both types of coils...DD and Concentric. I personally like Concentric coils to be shaped round. 7" is a good all around size.

In the past I have had issues with various Forums including this site. Sometimes the layout changes to the point of being very hard to navigate. I do run the newest version of AdBlock....as of right now it has solved the issue. Kind of weird, but the newest version works to present each webpage layout correctly.

Even with all the newer models I still like to have at least one Explorer. The SE was so edgy and raw one had to detune it. One could trade coil for coil with the Exp2....that 10" (1050) coil really smooths out the SE. Still the butterfly coil SEF seperates better. They all love silver....LOL I can't comment on the Nox.....the videos show it digging more trash. Perhaps more trash, more

All of the Minelab Explorer's were very coil responsive.....if that makes sense. Both factory coils on the SE were terrible matches. Two of the best matches were to put the 11" Pro coil on the Exp2 and the 10x12 SEF on the SE. These changes makes all the difference in performance. Regardless of Explorer coil, the slower the better. The SE was Bryce Brown's favorite go to machines.

would have to agree with Junk. The 10.5" white donut coil is my favorite. It is smooth running, great coverage, good depth. In thick trash run the Sensitivity knob at half and it will perform same as the 8" white coil. The brown 8" has great depth, but can be chatty on some sites. The 5.75" concentric coil is a killer in trash. Tesoro is my choice machine for Parks...easy and

No single frequency VLF can compete with the a true Multi-freqency detector....BBS, FBS, or the new Nox. Would be interesting to see what Nokta can further produce. FT needs to expand on the CZ line. Part of competing is having machines priced at south of $1000.

What about an EMF meter ?....measures electo-magnetic fields (microwaves produce mG). Curiously an EMF meter is a tool used by ghost hunters.

There was an article in an old treasure mag from the 1980s or early 90s that mentioned all the variables of metal detecting. An experiment was done using the same three metal detectors on the same (marked off) piece of land....same person. This was done everyday for a week. Of course it wasnt about how many finds one dug......as you'd think one would find the most on the first day (not so).

I have a few items that want to list. I tried to list it last night, but couldnt get photos to load. Anyways will list this morning without pics. FIRST, I have a Nokta Impact coil IM40 14x15....this is new without box. The person I bought my Impact from only used one (other) of the group of coils. Anyways I will sell it here for 125.00 shipped....I have it listed on other Forums for higher price.

bookfinder dot com. This will search Abe books and 8 or so other Retail book sellers In addition to Amazon. Basically all of online book sales. Keep In mind this is the price the seller wants, not what someone would actually pay. One can find an average price, then list slightly lower to sell fast.

Go to feebay. Then in the top right corner click on "advanced"....this is an indepth Search area. Then click (X) the box that says Sold items. Fill in whatever Title of Item you want to research. This will give you a price of what people were actually willing to pay for any given item.

Among EMI........weather, barometric pressure, ground moisture, even battery level will affect a MD performance. A lot of variables will affect overall performance....everyday is different. Not to mention the user's skill or current mental state.....LOL. Will lend to the fact that no site is completely dug of targets. If finds get more sparse try a different coil.....shape, size, or type (dd

Vista offers a simple and competative machine...great unmasker. Vista also offers long term dependability and economy. Some digital machines (or pinpointers) use rechargeable batteries, which have to be serviced (ever so many years) for the life of the machine......at a cost. Hopefully wont come to the point where the batteries are totally sealed and end up with a disposable metal detector. No m

This is deep. I will leave it as this...there is a "real" physical world and a "real" spiritual world each having their own rules. We mankind cannot comprehend the spiritual. Seeking deep into the spiritual will eventually lead to insanity. In rare cases there are people that are genuinely "sensitive" to the spirit world (have a sixth sense).......these people feel

Is Deep Tech Vista headed to the digital world?? Is it possible to advance and keep refining an analog platform?? Is there enough Tesoroians to keep an analog company afloat?

Interesting thread. I'm not about to tell anyone what to believe or do, but please be careful. There are spiritual things we dont understand......probably not supposed to understand. If you dive too deep you will soon realize that nothing is free, even in the spirit world. I personally believe that the spirit world consists of good angels and bad (fallen) angels (demons). Friends be careful.
