Tom, would the all metal mode be the deepest setting and was it giving a good Tid at depth, was there a need for a slow sweep as in deep mode? On pasture i was using my etrac with no disc and was hoping to do the same with the R2

you can get a 3 freq coil for the x-terra, you just turn the unit off/on to select freq, it was a toss up for myself over it or the racer2, but i ordered the racer as i had a 705 before and while it was very good i got spoilt for depth when i got an etrac.

Here in Northern Ireland we dont have the roman coins as in the rest of the UK but you'll find 200+ year old coins only a matter of a few inches down , though we have been on our little island for 9000 years lol
