I set mine to low trash, saltwater on, and GB off. I have yet to find a need to change those in my conditions. I am in NC. The setting I do have play with a lot is sensitivity. Sometimes I can crank it up to 28 and some places I cant keep above 20. I prefer 26 if I can keep it there. I have found different beaches in my area respond so differently and even some parts of them. But thats really the

Here are my results with the CTX 17'' on an air test vs a CZ21 and Excal on a quarter. The CZ21/Excal were both stock machines with 10'' coil. These tests were done in a low EMF zone:
CTX: 16 inches (solid signal)
CZ21: Faint signal dies off at 13 inches (so probably more like 11-12 in real conditions near ocean)
Excal: 13-14 inches faint signal (so probably more like 11-

If you are happy with Trump right now, please explain something like this:
Trump in 2015:
"Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted. We have enuf enemies"
Trump today 2017:
neither his wife nor daughter are wearing scarfs in saudi arabia.
I just can't understand how you can support someone

There a few things that could be next. One is a machine with more bells/whistles and a machine that uses a different technology.
For the new technology machine - either something we haven't seen or a PI/VLF combination
For bells and whistles - make sure its waterproof vs splashproof, Easy phone connectivity/control, come standard with waterproof headphones, use android operating syste

I can trick both my CZ21 and Excal on good deep targets. I have yet to be able to trick my CTX (not the numbers which are all over the place)

Absolutely. Otherwise, you risk overuse injury (tendonitis and such) from using one arm. Now that it's winter and I only go around 1x a week I won't but in the summer when I'm going 4-5x per week I switch each session. For the first 5 minutes of the hunt it feels really awkward and by the end of the hunt it feels perfect. Surprising, I don't notice any soreness from my detecto

QuoteSo what do you do or wear to keep warm
I just switch from mornings to the afternoon. As soon as the sun hits its anywhere from 60-70 degrees all winter. That's what I get for living in the south and dealing with 110+ mornings all summer long

Back to topic...are there any videos around demonstrating this? I know tons of people that say their machine is consistently deeper on all targets in the ground than an air test so there has to be videos showing this somewhere using a controlled test bed. And I just ask because I cannot replicate it (but that doesn't mean its not possible).

Awesome! My son turns 6 next week almost time to get him one but he is more interested in catching pokemon on my phone while I detect for the time being.

I just canceled a flu shot apt on Monday so that I can be out there first thing in the morning. However if there is good surf I will be surfing.

I responded to this in the other air test forum post but I think it deserves its own topic. I hear this time and time again - that someone can dig deeper than their machine can air test. Does anyone have a video of this happening? I have yet to see a video showing this by an expert in the field with a test garden where they know the depth of the object. I ask because I have never seen it or been

Absolutely but it still doesn't tell me how that machine will react with my ground.
As for people that say their machine is deeper in the ground than an air test...I have yet to see a video showing this by an expert in the field. I am not saying its not true but I have never seen it or been able to reproduce it with any of my machines - CTX, Excalibur, CZ21, or Whites DF. In fact, I was

I had a problem with my new 2016 CTX arm cuff that posted on another forum. After about 2-3 days I got a response that they were sending me a new cuff, no questions asked and no need to return the other. I am pretty happy with the service I got. +1 for Minelab.

Is it at kellyco? I have an email out to minelab customer service about a CTX 2016 arm cuff problem with no response after 48hrs...so I resent.

I am excited to see companies testing these new technologies out. I wonder if we are at a point where we are done seeing depth improvements (at least in non mineralized soil) and focusing more on identification of targets...honestly I don't want to dig deeper than my CTX is going unless it can tell me its gold or silver with 100% accuracy. Digging 15 inches for a penny is not fun and I dig t

As others have said seems like getting a beach unit and then hip mounting might be her best option. You could probably find a used sov or something in that price range and then hip mount it. Otherwise it seems like all of the beach machines are pretty heavy.

I have google glasses and they shoot decent video...as good as your cell phone. Too bad they are out of production now and you look really weird wearing them. Soon enough though this technology will be common.

At some point I have a feeling that beach and ocean hunting might be some of the only places to detect...
I live 10-15 mins from the beach. I can go to the same spot day after day and find new things. You can't really say this about anywhere else unless there is a population of people continually dropping things. If I didn't beach hunt I am not sure I would even detect. I feel weird

I know that my Excalibur and CZ21 have a lot of trouble on small gold. My wife has some rings that wont even register on them and none of her bracelets/necklaces will. I find tons of small silver at the beach but pretty much most of my gold has always been men's wedding bans...So my question is, how much better do the land/fresh water detectors pick up this stuff (in air tests, ground, fresh

The biggest issue I see with this is there are so many factors that can affect perceived vs actual depth. I was reading something OBN said on a forum that when he tested the Excal in a quiet room it could air test much much deeper than when he could get in any other environment, which is why he has spent a lot of time improving audio of the excal...the machine was detecting much deeper than we we
