Liking the look of the Simplex--great level of fidelity for the new hunter. If its anything like the R2 it's an amazing value. 12 kHz is likely more stable in the salt too. Great to see Notka / Makro keeping the industry fresh and "on it's toes" as well. We all win from that. Just wish there was more competition in the expensive range too...the CTX can always be improved on..

Way to go, Aaron--it's a good system for checking consistency. It's hard enough above 6. cjc

I agree there is always room for some selectivity. This below 6 range will eat you alive--especially in that many of these new machines discriminate as much by size as by conductivity--these micros can be anything...cjc

Okay--here's my spin on them. Carl Moreland offered a substantial reward to anyone who can successfuly demo a LRL--still unclaimed after many years. That said--a few years back I bought this gadget that emitted a tuned piezo tone and you used rods top work with it. after a lot of practice I was able to get a gold ring in one of 5 envos around three or four out of five times. There was a

Finally a thaw here had a chance to run this detector in the iron at some old sites. Very impressed with the new coil --makes the machine considerably deeper than even the Impact and Kruzer. Superb audio as well--I can really hear everything in the ground--set at disc zero the heavy iron areas become obvious telling me where to buzz around for masked targets. Or I can just jump it up to 4 or 5 to

It's great to see this kind of testing being engaged in The sense I get is that the EQ has brought in a lot of hunters who don't really have the patience to test, study theory or basic--the things that bring about real detecting success. Many don't even have the patience to wait for my book and feel it's appropriate to "come after" me after a few days. Won't

I have both books now and they are awesome. I keep them close so I can study them on these cold days. Anyone one that has a Equinox needs these books.

Great 2nd book for the Equinox its full of great tips and how to use the machine in different situations. The advanced guide is not just for advanced users. All users of the EQX will find this book very useful. Clive has a wealth of knowledge and testing has gone into the book. “An Advanced Guide” should be your go to book for helping you understanding the machine!

It's not so much the recovery speed but that higher frequencies are more nimble--faster responding. The effect is about the same.

Thanks--will say though that underwater those low tones are really faint with the stocks--or even the HRs I tried. Both about half of the wireless stock ones.
