I almost never used my 6" and 12"x15" Equinox coils; so, I recently sold them off. They sold for about the same amount as I paid for my Vanquish 540. The Vanquish is much more useful to me, is fun to use, and was inexpensive enough that I keep it in my car all the time.

I have owned an Equinox 600 for almost exactly three years now. Compared to my Etrac, I consider the Equinox to be a niche and specialty machine. I do 95% of my coin hunting with the Etrac.
The Equinox is used to find masked coins in mineralized ground or extremely trashy sites, locations where the Etrac struggles. On sites of that type, the Equinox has made some impressive finds, almost

I have been using an Etrac for years. I found the Nel Tornado to be deeper and more stable than the Ultimate 13. I prefer the Nel Tornado to my Cors Detonation (which is the same as the Nel Storm) and also prefer it to my Nel Attack coil. The Coiltek WOT will go deeper than the Nel Tornado and offers comparable stability, but, is much heavier.

If the sink rate is linear, 1964 silver is unreachable for you in less than 25 years. Fortunately, I strongly s

The silver coins are sinking deeper into the ground with each passing year. How many years or decades before they are all too deep to be found with today's detectors or even with new and improved detectors?
Most of the silver coins I find were dropped between the 1940s and the 1960s. I find coins dropped from the 1880s to the 1920s with much less frequency. The relative scarcity of fin

Thank you. That was exactly what I wanted to know.

I recently bought a Vanquish 440, and have owned an Equinox 600 since February 2018.
On my Equinox I have everything notched out below copper pennies, except for 12 and 13 to find nickels. The Vanquish 440 does not have enough discrimination segments to do the same setup. If I accept 12 and 13 on the Vanquish 440, I also have to accept 11, which is usually aluminum trash like pulltabs.

I have been a Minelab FBS user for many years and hunt with an Etrac every week. I recently purchased a used Minelab Safari that came with an extra SEF 10 x 5.5 coil.
When the SEF coil is installed on the Safari, the machine will not stay powered up. Swapping batteries did not solve the problem. I originally suspected that the Safari had a problem; however, the problem definitely appears to

I bought one but never used it after I realized that it doesn't have a conventional depth gauge. I'd like to sell it off, and will make somebody a great deal, lol.

I have two Minelab Safaris and an AKA Sorex Pro that I'd like to sell. The machines are all in nice condition, $425 for each of the Safaris and $525 for the AKA Sorex Pro. I also have several extra AKA coils that I'd like to sell which will fit the AKA Signum, Sorex, or Berkut. I will post photos if there is some interest.

I've used an Etrac regularly for the last seven years. If I could only have one coil, it would be the 12" x13" NEL Tornado. I have combed sites with the stock coil and then pulled up a bunch of slightly deeper coins with the NEL Tornado. I also use a 13" x 14" Cors Detonation coil (which is noisy), a 15" NEL Attack coil (also noisy), and a 15 Coiltek WOT (great co

I have owned an Equinox 600 since February 2018. I bought it because 800s were nearly impossible to get at the time. I intended to upgrade to an 800 once they became available; however, after using the 600 for a while, I realized that an 800 would give me little to no additional benefit.

I have an extra Minelab Equinox 800, complete with the factory box and all original accessories including the wireless headphones and wireless module. $700.
I also have an extra Minelab Equinox 6 inch coil, complete with washers, coil bolt, and coil cover. $160.
Both items are in outstanding condition, barely distinguishable from brand new.
I am not looking for any trades since I alrea

This is the first I've seen of this; however, if anyone wants an AKA detector, I have a Berkut 5 and a Signum MFD that I'd be willing to sell. I also have a few extra coils and lower rods.

I happened to see this article earlier today, and was intrigued by the mention of a gravimeter.
In looking at the Wikipedia entry for a gravimeter, it appears to be capable of measuring the density of underground objects.
I presume that since gravimeters are commercially available, there must be some reason that they aren't commonly used for hobby metal detecting. Is this an issue of

I found my first silver half 5 1/2 years ago. It was a 40% 1967. Since then I've found 3 Barber halves, 3 Walkers, and zero Franklins. I think those Franklins might have been easy finds for the old timers back in the 60s and 70s.

I've dug 77 deep silver coins so far this year. I strongly prefer the Etrac to my Equinox. I don't bother using the Equinox except to 1) clean up a site for the last few masked coins that the Etrac can't find, 2) detect in the rain, or 3) detect when I'm too tired to swing the Etrac, or 4) detect on vacation when traveling by plane.
The Equinox has an inaccurate depth gau

It takes many hours to master a new detector. If the Vanquish offers no performance advantage over the Equinox, I don't want to spend the time to learn a new detector.

I've been using an Etrac for the last 6 years. I've dug over 300 silver coins with it, almost all of them from six inches or deeper. I almost exclusively hunt in parks and yards.
I bought an Equinox 600 when they first came out, got it in February 2018. At first, I was not impressed with the Equinox; however, I eventually set it up to mimic the sounds of the Etrac: two tones, hi
