I have a site that was, or is, loaded with deep wheat cents. I have extensively hunted this site over the last year and a half, removing about 20 silver coins and well over 100 wheat cents.
I dug eight wheat cents there yesterday using an Etrac with an oversize coil. The remaining deep coins do not give the type of signal that you would normally notice or bother to dig. These signals are

I always run my Equinox in multifrequency. I've had the machine since February of last year, and have never had a problem with bottle caps.

Several years ago, a guy I know jabbed his digging tool into the screen of his CTX3030. Even though the machine was still under warranty, he fully expected to pay for the damage himself.
He personally dropped off the machine with Minelab, which I believe was in Downer's Grove, Illinois, at the time. Minelab repaired the machine at no charge and he was able to pick it up the same day or

I know this won't effect everyone; however, I wanted to put this out there for the dealers and hobby sellers who have an eBay store.
The final value fee on metal detectors, for eBay store holders, has been 6.15% for some time. Now it is 9.15%. As far as I know, eBay did not announce the change. I believe the change occurred on August 1st.
The way this increase was instigated was to

So, you don't own an Equinox, presumably haven't even borrowed one; but, you somehow know that it's a mediocre machine. Why are you even opining on this subject, and spreading misinformation, when you have no experience with the machine?
The Equinox is great for finding masked targets. Unlike t

I plant watermelons in my garden every year. They like hot weather. If it's a cool summer, I dig lots of silver but don't get many watermelons. If it's a hot summer, as it has been so far this year, I don't get to do much detecting, but, get the consolation of more watermelons.

I've used an Etrac for the last five years, hunting for deep silver coins in parks and yards. I found 102 silver coins last year.
During this five year period, I've tried numerous other high end detectors. Until getting an Equinox 600, I didn't think any of them were worth the time to master as they offered no significant net advantage compared to the Etrac.

I got a 600 back in late February from a small dealer. I've found seven silver coins with it so far: war nickels, Mercury dimes, Democrat dimes, and a Washington quarter.

This machine has never been to Tom, and I haven't air tested it. No box. It's in Illinois if you want to see it in person.

I have too many CZ machines and would like to get some of them sold off. I also have some extra coils and lower rods, etc. I can email photos upon request.
CZ6a, $325.
CZ6a, Nasa Tom tuned to 11.4", $500.
CZ5, $325.
CZ3D, Los Banos 1021 Series, $500.

I'm glad I bought one, a 600. It has found a number of coins that my Etrac couldn't have found, including five silvers. I've also packed it for airline trips, which I'd be reluctant to do with my Etrac.
I've been using the machine for three months now, and time is the one thing you can't get back. I'm glad I bought early.

Bayard reporting a 12-22 (was that confirmed after digging with an air test, Bayard?)
It air tests 12-21 and is a 1944-D. If you study this subject thoroughly, and I am not discouraging you from doing so at all, I believe you will find nothing more than random variation.

I suspect the issue is poor quality control resulting in lack of uniformity. I've dug numerous war nickels with my Etrac, including one which rang up 12-22. They typically ring up at 12-14 or 12-15.

Shipping is very expensive. I paid about $90 to have a detector shipped from Canada. I sold a couple coils to a guy in Canada, and paid close to $50 to ship them.

I don't understand why some guys think they are the self appointed elite of this hobby, just because they scooped up easy targets with a BFO fifty years ago. You might have been first; but, that doesn't mean you can't learn from others.
Other than the fundamentals of detecting, your experience with a BFO is meaningless today. You graduated to a 100kHz beep and dig TR machine

I think some people had unreasonable expectations that the Equinox would make their hunted out sites like new again. In my experience, the Equinox squeezes out some additional finds, sometimes an impressive quantity of additional finds; but, it doesn't make old sites like new again.

I hunt for old silver coins. They are usually six inches or more

The one thing I disliked about the CZ was that the depth meter only worked during pinpoint. This was a huge time waster, and I had hoped for a new model CZ with a continuous real time depth meter. The the depth meter on the Equinox isn't super accurate; but, it sure beats the CZ for saving time.

I think the Equinox is a great complement for an FBS machine. My 600 has unmasked numerous coins that my Etrac was incapable of finding.
Earlier today I dug a clad quarter with a pull tab on top of it. The quarter signal was strong and clear with quarter numbers on the readout. The Etrac would have averaged the numbers and given me a readout of something like a zincoln.
