What is your detecting background? Have you had any experience with modern detectors? Electronics aren't made to be repaired anymore. We live in a disposable society. The ability to repair a modern detector 10 years from now is going to be slim. After 29 years in the hobby, I still own and use multiple brands (XP/Fisher/Teknetics/Nokta/Whites), but the Equinox is the one I grab first 99% of

It started with not being able to log on to just an error now. I think the forum owner is traveling ATM and no one else has the credentials to fix it.

Seems to me that the American companies have been handed down or acquired/merged, and the current company leaders aren't focused on metal detecting innovation. Maybe they don't see the hobby as profitable as other electronic ventures? I'm sure Garrett gets a bigger return on their security business. First Texas seems to be branching out into other things. Even Fisher's Impulse

That is when you hover the coil in a small/tight motion directly over the target to get a tone. If you were to swing the coil past the same target at a normal speed then you would only hear the nails. A lot of youtubers use this trick when they are trying to sell you a detector/coil. Nobody hunts that way in real life.

The 11 inch coil will hit a quarter in that config if you cherry pick it. With a normal swing speed you would probably miss it.

I am curious about the 10x5, but was waiting for some reviews before I pulled the trigger. Was hoping for something similar to the Garrett 5x8 without the iron falsing tendencies of the EQX 6 inch coil.

There will also be different results between freshly buried targets and targets that have been in the ground for several years that have developed halos.

Garrett must be concerned about all the bad reviews. They made their own video. Seems like Steve was cherry picking the nail board test. A regular swing speed would have missed most of them. https://youtu.be/ZzIG0U8qq1Y

Don't think it is going to be the game changer everyone was waiting for from Garrett. Recovery speed is too slow. It has the ability to be upgraded through the mini USB port if Garrett decides it needs an update. I could be wrong, but I don't think this problem will be updated away.

Seems to have a slight Tarsacci bias. If he had put his "trusty" Equinox in 2 tone mode it would have easily matched the Tarsacci. Didn't spend much time trying to improve the Equinox signal.

That's basically what I took away from it. The salinity feature is not going to let the Tarsacci see through iron in the gro

Yes that link is the same one in ghounds post. It is working now. Probably over loaded yesterday. Servers will start kicking people off if too many are downloading at the same time. I was trying to figure out how to get to the new software through the Minelab website. It isn't there yet. That's where the confusion was coming from. Tried with three different browsers with the same results. When I go to minelab.com and look under equinox 800 downloads it isn't there. The link is (https://www.minelab.com/metal-detectors/equinox-800). When I use the link in ghounds post that I linked to earlier it is a different address (https://www.minelab.com/usa/equinox-software-update-3-0)

The only download available on the minelab website is the old 2.0.1 update utility. I can only find the 3.0 update in the link ghound posted and that download fails before it finishes. Am I the only one having that problem? Might need to clear my browser cache.

That link isn't working for me. Fails and starts over at about 6MB. Think Minelab pulled it down. If you go to the Minelab website and look it still only shows the old software.

I can't get it to download now. I tried going to the Minelab website and it still lists the old software utility. Not sure if it's been pulled down or where the original link came from.
