A guy over on the Finds Equinox forum got an 800 from Cabela's just yesterday.
Another guy on the Equinox Fan Club got one from Cabela's on Tuesday.
They must be getting a steady flow of them.

So then, if Tom truly can't say anything, what's stopping him from telling us why he can't say anything?
He rarely posts on the forum anymore and when he does it's just a few quick words. I used to enjoy the long posts he used to write that were full of useful info. Maybe he's just losing interest in the forum and has better things to do these days than read posts, an

$70 in sales tax for one thing
I got mine from Cabela's and didn't pay any sales tax. The shipping was free as well.
Not everyone has to pay sales tax.

When they designed the Equinox, they should have added a true all metal button for each frequency or each mode. That would be very handy. Maybe we'll see it on future models.

I finally figured out how to stop the F-Pulse from interfering with the Equinox.
Simply turn on the F-Pulse and hold it a few feet away from the coil while you noise cancel the detector.
Now they will be perfectly compatible.

Looks like right now all he has left are the Bluetooth headphones which can be used on the 600. Many companies make Bluetooth headphones that are just as good as the Minelabs for half that price.

I tried the re-calibration a few times and it didn't help to speed it up. I'll keep trying.
So far, I haven't been able to stop the F-Pulse from causing interference with my detectors. Both the Equinox and the F75 go nuts whenever I turn it on. I ran it through all the frequencies a number of times. Some are a little quieter than others but they all still cause noise.

Fiskars stuff is good.
I've been using their trowels for years. They also make a narrower version of the one he has which is good for digging around roots and rocks or digging the sides of the hole.

The headphones that come with the Equinox 600 are crap.
I would like to use my Gray Ghosts.
Will a 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapter work on this machine? I want to make sure before I buy one.
This is the one I was thinking of getting.

I don't see any advantage of a single tone over a multi-tone except for maybe the cost. The ability to hear the iron is very useful.
I wish Fisher would come out with a modern lightweight version of the old CZ series. No screen, no speaker, just three tones of raw power. Give it a beach mode for around $500 and it might out sell the Equinox.

The nickel trick works like this. You take a nickel and slide it up the side of the pinpointer until it just starts to beep, then you pull it back just a hair until it stops beeping and hold it there. Now you will get noticeably more depth.

I got an F-Pulse recently and just tested it on a clad dime. I got the same results on the high setting as Tom did.
The nickel trick increases depth with the F-Pulse same as it does with the Garretts.
Clad dime - 3.25"
Clad dime using nickel trick - 4.25"
I've always wondered, if the nickel trick works so well to increase depth, why don't they incorporate a sl

When hunting the dry sand, you might want to not use beach mode and go with prospecting mode or field mode.
There is no point in using beach mode on the dry sand.
Prospecting mode would be the best choice for micro jewelry.
I made a tiny lightweight sifter with 1/4 inch mesh that clipped onto my belt. It made it a lot easier and faster to recover the target once it was dug.

I've always been under the impression that discriminating out any type of metal decreases depth. So for decades now I've always kept the discrimination wide open on all my detectors and hunt by tone ID and VDI. I'm so used to hearing iron that it would bother me to not hear it.
If you switch to all metal with the horseshoe button, does it still retain the tone ID or does everyth

I like this topic. I think it's very useful information. Most of the people here are very avid detectorists with decades of experience. If one or two detectors stand out from the crowd, it means something. For me it's nice to know that the F75 LTD is still a top favorite because I just bought one.

It was the Explorer SE for about ten years but I sold that about four months ago in anticipation of the Equinox which never came. I finally canceled the order on the EQX but I'm glad I sold the Explorer.
It forced me to use my T2 SE more and I can't believe what I've been missing. I've been going back to sites that I've pounded with the Explorer for years and digging t

I agree. Very well written. The only mistake I could see was in paragraph two. The word is drivel, not dribble.
