Even if the Equinox and the 3030 retailed for the same price, I would still choose the Equinox for its performance, lightness, and simplicity. I can't think of anything on the 3030 that I would like to see added to the Equinox.

CTX is overpriced and at 5.2 pounds, very heavy.
IMO, it has little if any advantage over the Equinox. It all depends on what you want the detector to do.

After comparing my machine to other 800's using identicle settings, it makes me wonder if there might be variations from one machine to the next. Sometimes my 800 goes crazy with EMI while another 800 at the same site with the same settings is per

4 kHz goes at least an inch deeper than Multi in my test garden. It gave good digable tones on the 12" silver dime and 15" silver quarter. Multi will not even pick up these coins.
EMI is more of a problem with 4 kHz though. I tried it at my favorite silver coin site and it was unusable due to powerlines. The lowest frequency I could use was 10.
I don't bother checking targets

I used mine this morning and the depth seemed to work okay.
I was hoping to test 4 kHz at my favorite 1800's coin site but got terrible EMI from nearby powerlines. Lowering the sensitivity to 19 was the only way to quiet it down. 5 kHz was equally noisy. I ended up running 10 kHz and that was nice and quiet even with sensitivity maxed.
Is the stability enhancement supposed to be for EM

I also discovered the same thing a while back when comparing both detectors. It was a real eye opener thinking that you could walk right over a cache and not know it. One thing I noticed though, if you tip over the stack of coins, the problem disappears. So it's only on tightly packed coins or large pieces of solid silver that the detectors have trouble.
Isn't that weird how the two

I haven't been able to test mine yet. Maybe later today.
Strange that the update would cause a change in the depth meter. I wonder if the depth meter is connected to the overall performance of the detector in any way.
I do use the meter occasionally. It's nice to have but I don't really need it.
It would be nice if they could change the readout from triangles to a number.

I'm a big fan of using silicone grease on O-rings but I can't stand getting it on my fingers. It's weird to see you not wearing gloves in the video.
I have a 20 year old CZ20. From day one I have been using silicone grease on the rubber seal and it's still good as new.

When was that written? Who pays with cash these days? I haven't gotten change back in well over a decade.
Coins are becoming a rare thing at the beaches. Twenty years ago, we sometimes had to empty our pouches because they got too heavy. Now you can hunt for hours and maybe find a dozen coins if you're lucky.

So, with an ID of 33 it's obviously not silver. Most likely some sort of alloy. Judging by the rivets poking through and the plates on each end, it's probably not a bracelet. I'd say it a part of a clamp or sleeve that held something together.

Arron's find weighs 1.86 oz. (almost two ounces) and reads 33 on the Nox.
A Morgan silver dollar weighs less than an ounce and reads 38.

Nows a good time to try a war nickle,
Why a war nickel?
Even though they have a tiny bit of silver, war nickels are still low conductors. They ID just above foil like any other nickel. It might as well be a gold ring. For that, you would want 15 or 20 kHz.

You could also take some silver cleaner and silver polish to it. Nothing shines like silver once it's been cleaned and buffed. You should be able to see your self in it.

Recovery 4 on the Equinox seems a bit low for a site with so much iron. A higher recovery speed might have improved the signal on some of those targets and could possibly have found a few more. Depth isn't everything. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it hinders.
