The maniac that did this horrible crime would not have been stopped by a metal detector. He shot the glass out and entered.
The only way to stop him would have been someone with a gun on the inside.

I don't know where you live but if you are going into a winter climate where it gets cold and detecting grinds to a halt I'd wait!
Everyone is saying a new Fisher is on the way and who knows what else. I'm looking forward to it.

One of the members over at Finds, S*******d has my vote. He seems to have had every new latest and greatest detectors... and sold every one!
Whites V3i, ETrac, Xp Deus, etc, and now his CTX 3030 is up for sale. One would think it would be near impossible to have a detector pay for itself
by constantly buying and selling them. JMHO.
LOL, Aaron.... OK I edited his name. And I remember that.

Thanks Keith! My old Relco BFO only had a 1 coil setup... I got screwed!
Seriously though, we put a man on the moon and rovers on Mars... and smart phones in our pockets. Surely a dual coil for VLFs could be designed.

I have an old '1021' CZ-3D I sent to Tom for validation. In his dirt it gets 12" on a clad dime.
I purchased (for my son) a NEW validated FT CZ-3D FROM TOM and it gets 12" on a clad dime.
They both have exactly the same performance.
I will tell you upfront: If you want to avoid future dissapointment BUY IT FROM TOM. You can be assured of not getting a 'lemon'

Gary,
Place CZ-3D in "Enhanced" mode and:
* Approx. 25% - 40% of new nickels should read 'round-tab' (with mid-tone).
* $5.00 Gold Half-Eagle should read high-tone (Zinc Penny ID).
* U.S. Shield nickel should read high-tone (Nickel ID).
* Zinc pennies should read high tone (High

Has anyone ever thought of a 'dual field' coil? Like a detector, with as an example, an 11" coil with a 5 1/2" coil inside the 11" coil. the detector would have a switch/button to change between the 11" and 5 1/2" coil.
Coil weight would be a concern but the benefits of such an arrangement speaks for itself.

I hope Fisher comes out with something DEEP. I am absolutely convinced I am missing masked (I use big coils there) and super deep coins.
Finding Roosevelts and worn Mecury dimes at 10" tells me there is some great, old, coins to be had if I can get at them.

I went there today. Believe it or not after 45 minutes I found it! Laying right on top of the ground. Also found one that makes your heart speed up: a 1916 mercury dime with a mintmark.
I took it over by a tree and sat down, and got out a 10x power loop I keep in my fanny pack. I tried to 'will' it into being a D but it is an S Maybe next time.
Also I hit a milestone there today. I

A couple days ago I was detecting the old golf course turned into a park again. I ran into a guy using an AT Pro and we began talking. He asked if I was having any luck and I showed him
5 silver dimes and an IH cent I had found along with a small handfull of wheats. He told me he had found 1 wheat cent and a handfull of newer coins. So he asked me how deep I was finding
the good stuff at. As us

The old CZ-3D is still quite capable of racking up the silver. My post from early June...
I've been to the old golf course many times since then. But when it was REALLY hot out this summer I stayed home. Now that it has cooled off some I am back at it.
Just Friday I was there and found 11 silver coins. The ground is bone dry. It has been an amazing place to detect. 7 months... 283 si

My 1021 CZ-3D (Tom tuned) and my son's FT CZ-3D (Tom tuned) each get just over 1" depth improvement using the 10.5" coils over the 8" coils. The Sunray FZ-12 gets 2" over the 8" coil.
This is in our eastern Nebraska soil.

Me too. How does the CTX hit an 10.5" wheat or silver dime in somwhat mineralized ground?
My 1021 CZ-3D does it.

The grounds crew came and WATCHED me retrieve a target (see earlier post in this thread). And I used to use a blunted screwdriver/coinpopper in the early 70s. Ruined some nice finds with them.
They did work ok for digging the shallow finds up to 4 or 5 inches which is all the deeper the detectors went then. I would love to see a video of anyone retrieving a coin at 10" with a screwdriver l

Here is a picture of the Predator Tools Little Eagle. Next to a Predator Tools Raptor 31 and a Leshe...
I carry it in my left hand grasping it close to the blade and the hanle is running next to my arm.
BTW can you see the 5" plug here dug with the Little Eagle?

I use a Predator Little Eagle when I can. Same small blade as the Dixie but a shorter T handle.
A couple weeks ago 3 park guys mowing came over to talk to me. They were interested in what I was finding
and I gave them a demo with the detector and recovery of a 9.5" mercury dime using the Little Eagle and
a ProPointer. They all agreed when I was done there was no trace of my digging. U

Too much BS going on here! I appreciate hearing from ACTUAL USERS and those asking legit questions. What DOESN'T interest me is a bunch
of armchair quarterbacks making calls from the sidelines by posting links to other forums and making claims about a machine they have never used.
I read thru that Geotech forum... what a joke thos

And if you are going after really deep coins (9"+) no matter how good your detector pinpoints them
if they are even at a very slight angle down deep they will be off center in th hole. The pinponter really
helps locate them. And another big plus... A pinpointer can prevent you from gouging a coin with your
digging tool. I have some real horror stories about great coins and jewelry getti
