What about this?? Let's say my so and so detector will air test a clad dime at 10.5 inches. I bury the dime in soil that has been purged of all other signals. And I barely hit the dime at 7 inches, and THEN it's just an iron grunt one way and a mid tone the other way. Guys, doesn't that give me some real-world data on the composition of my soil. Please bear in mind, and it's

I had two. One with the bugs, that I bought early last year. And one without any bugs, that I bought about 3 monthjs ago. Like everone else said, The bugs have all been worked out plus I will venture to say that my AT pro will hit targets in my test garden that the first one wouldn't.. I lovemy AT pro. Please consider doing yourself a favor and getting the 5x8 coil as an extra. It loves nail

I just read the instructions and it said to Ground Grab in AT Mode. I was Ground Grabbing in Disc mode. So far, it seems to have solved my "problem". And thanks for your reply Keith.

Guys, I am sorry to clutter up the board with my stuff, but I am troubled this morning. My Omega has the same problem that it did before it left. They replaced the coil when it was at Fisher Labs. It quieted it down quite a bit!! I am happy about that. But when I push the GROUND GRAB button, the OVERLOAD audio sounds off!!! Even with the coil in the air!!! This just CAN'T be typical of a

Thanks TerraDigger. Mine does that and still maintains a hit tome. It will hit 11 inches with hi tone mid tone mix. I sure appreciate your fast response. Happy Hunting guys. Many of us will find some silver and other good relics today. I wish every one of you the best.

Thanks Steve. I enjoy doing this stuff. And I enjoy coming to this site and talking detectors. I REALLY NEED to learn something from these tests. And right nowI am at the stage of: I just want to know if there is a non-ferrous among the ferrous. The VDI numb

Mid-tone and high tone as i circle the target. But when I make my first contact with target, as in: walking towards it swinging, usually a midtone with numbers in the midto upper 30's jumping into the 40's. So this changes the ballgame for me when I am hunting in nails!!!! It means this: I will be doing ALOT of digging. And relying on the depth meter to keep from digging surface foil an

I have been keeping the rusted square nails from the site that I so often mention here. They are in various stages of decay. In my test, I dig a 5 inch deep hole. I lay three nails around the bottom of the hole (which is roughly 4 x4 inches) and then stick a few nails in the sides of the hole. I then replace the plug. I then swing with my Fisher F75SE with 5 inch coil. And then with my Garret A

I have thought about using a troyBuilt tiller in the iron nail site that I hunt and then dragging a roofers magent through it. I just KNOW that there is silver coins and CW bullets under that thick carpet of nails. And it doesn't take but ONE well placed square nail to hide a goodie!!! Or a rust flake. Man, this is frustrating me. But I doubt the landowner will let me have my leave with a t

I just talked to Felix and he said that my unit would be completed today. And even though the fault was mine, since I fell down a riverbank to water's edge, there would be no charge on the repair. I thought that was awsome and thanked Felix profusely. I am anxious to see how the Omega likes iron nail beds. I saw a U-Tube video of a guy putting a nail on top of a coin and the Omega hit the c

Just my 3 cent piece: that 5x8 inch coil has brought old sites back to life for me in such a way that it's the only coill that I use now on my AT Pro. BUT, the stock coil is hitting targets in my test garden that the 5x8 won't barely touch. But I buried those coins and bullets at depths greater than I would find them in real world scenarios. I only did that for my own confidence'

The site I have been hunting/ training on is totally carpeted with square nails in various stages of decomposition. When ya dig a plug, you can run your garrett pinpointer through it and it will indicate the presence of metal. Even a random plug. I usually am patient enough to find what is making my pinpointer sound off. And it will be a half decayed square nail, or a whole square nail. In that

I appreciate that Steve. I hope that I am not coming across as a "newbie who wants to be able to talk like a veteran detector" and I strongly fear that I am. But reality is this: The stuff that I write in posts is just stuff that is running through my head and that I would be chatting about with a metal detcting friend if i had any. I want to emphatically state that I am a newbie. And

Got permission from a farmer to hunt a cow pasture where I saw buttercups springing out of the ground. Buttercups seem to be, at least so far, a good indicator of an old homeplace and it proved right today. I turned on the F75 and began moving towards the buttercups. When I got within 20 yards of them the F75 began indicating a steady machine-gun fire type iron audio indicating a nail bed. I pinp

Allow me first to say that this technique is NOT of my own making. I learned it from NasaTom during my telephone consultation with him. Here's the technique. I have found that the square nails in the bed I am hunting are coming in around 27 to 29 on the VDI of my Garrett AT Pro. Tom had told me to find out what the nails are reading and then lower or raise the discrimination until the nails

After having my Phone Consultation with NasaTom about a week ago, I have been re-scanning an old homesite in town with my AT Pro. My F75SE, even with 5 inch coil, will be next even though the EMI is really thick in the air around here. The AT Pro has been pulling some good stuff out of the ground for me. Ya know, it really makes a difference........random hunting versus intelligent hunting! The r

I've got confidence in Fisher Labs. Heck, if they charge me. I deserve it, since I told them about taking that plummet down about a 15 ft straight up river bank. I fell to the water's edge where the mud is like quicksand.. Thje Omega was half buried.. It started runnuing relly erractically after that. Thanks for everyones replies. I belive theyll take care of me. Heck, I have owned 2 F

I sincerely apppreciate all replies. And this one in particular. It gives me a standard, a starting point with which to measure from. And my unit, with stock concentric coil, would not air test a dime to anywhere near 10.5 inches. It

I don't know if it was caused by the tumble that I took down the Tennessee Riverbank, but it could have been the reason for the unit to start acting erractically at times even in situations of no EMI. Sometimes, when pushing ground grab buttone with coil held out from me at eye level, the unit will sound off the everload sond and will not let me ground balance, I was honest with Felix and to

Tom did NOT ask me to make this post or to publicly endorse him. This is my doings. And I am doing it because I just figured that my fellow hobbyist should know how helpful it was to me. I prepared for my Phone session by having a few questions ready when Tom called. And Tom went way above and beyond my expectations. I can't wait to get back out to the square nail beds that I have been hunti

I found the cause of the weird buzz when in 3 or 4 tone!!!! My coil plug wasn't all the way in because the retaining nut had come loose. I tightened it up and the weird buzz went away. Thank you all the same foryour reply Gman.
