It the Makro Racer with the 5 inch OOR coil installed sleuthy enough to go behind an Garret AT Pro with a 5x 8 inch coil installed??? I have just acquired a new permission and it is right across the small road from where I found a Civil War small camp and a gold dollar (found a couple of years ago). I had been trying to obtain permission from the landowner to hunt this new piece of property but

TabDad, first, you did a great job on the video. Secondly, 9 inches with a nickel seems to be on the weak side. I'm certainly not trying to kill your confidence in your machine. I just feel that it should be getting deeper on that nickel. Especially in all metal.
Maybe a phone call to Felix at First Texas might shed some light. Good luck to you. kevin

I googled 'broach' and it kept coming up brooch. LOL Plus, I wasn't even sure if it was a broach/brooch. So the question mark served a dual porpoise. lol Merry Christmas!!!!!

I'm always glad to find old brass (or copper) relics, even though I don't have a clue about what it is, exactly. Have you ever seen anything like it? I found it in a dry branch bed, at least a foot down. Well, it SEEMED like a foot after all of that digging. Probably more like 10 inches. lol Whether ya know what it is or not......Merry Christmas to all!!!!!! kevin

Not yet. I will dedicate tomorrow (thursday) for that. I will place the bullet in 7 inches of clean ground and then place square

Aaron, did ya try a new battery before ya sent it back? Mine was doing the same thing (running all the time....but with a bit different kind of sound. The new alkaline battery fixed it right up. I used it today for about 3 hrs and it worked perfectly. I must say though, that this is about my forth Garrett Pro Pointer in the 5 or 6 yrs that I have been detecting. I'm just used to the sim

Scenario: I laid a three ringer (Minie ball) on the carpet. I realize that there are plenty of nails (flooring, etc etc) under this bullet. Still, I got a reading of 82 (using small 5 OOR coil). Here's what it looks like:
The Racer picked this bullet up with no problem, in spite of the line of nails that lie under the projectile. But then....I placed a square nail by the bullet, but

Yes Marcomo, mine did exactly that. I went hunting the next day, and the pin pointer was working again. The nite before, it was giving that 'over-load' sound. And I could not get it to stop after trying all of the old tricks: "banging it against my shovel" LOL!!!! But then, the next day, it was working.....but only fort a few seconds at a time. It seemed as if it needed ti

By the way, it is the black model that is very popular......not the orange model. Anyway, I have taken this new unit on maybe three of four trips. Yesterday, I was using it to find metal in a hole and I laid it down next to my digging tool and I forgot and left it on. So it buzzed and beeped for about 30 seconds. And then it started making an overload-like sound. And now, everytime I turn

I have been doing a little home experimenting. When I wave a 58 cal Minie bullet in front of the coil. it reads between 79 and 81. When I wave a square nail, by itself, in front of the coil, it reads 20.......but as I slowly turn it in my hand, it will read from 14 to 44. When I wavi the bullet AND the square nail in front of the coil, it reads erractically.....but will reach to the 50'

After reading NasaTom's testing with the Nokta Fors Gold Plus, and Tom talking about sitting the unit to 'break up' the rusty nail audio response by setting the machine to a DISC setting (or Mask setting) of 21.........I am inclined to use this same procedure on my Makro Racer with the 5" coil installed. NasaTom, it looks like a phone consultation with you is in order if you

NasaTom, this is some very useful info and your efforts are VERY MUCH appreciated. I have a few areas where small brass cuff buttons are present (I'm fairly positive) and yet they are masked. The FGP is on my Christmas list as an addition to my Racer. Again, thank you for your efforts! Kevin

I gave $500 for it at a Pawn Shop although I know who the previous owner was. It has Boost Process and all the rest. I'll take $450 SHIPPED. The unit didn't come with a 5 inch coil when I bought it and so, it doesn't have one now. I am simply trying to get some of my money back from a complete impulse purchase.
The unit is fully functional and is priced down there with t
