I own both and will say, if the FZ12" has an edge its not much, Lipservice said 1- 1/12", I get about an 1"+ depending on setup. If your hunting an area that the extra inch means everything, then get one. They both seem almost equal on stability. I use them at the beach or open ground, when in trash or multiple target areas there is just to much info coming through for me, (time fo

I have a small sub station near my house, can't run the F5 unless you run sens at less than 30 and thres at -4 +. But the CZ3D runs just fine wide open as does the AT Pro(unless I run very high sens). Maybe you should try another machine, possibly analog.

Here is an old post, my 2 cents, : I see a machine in the future that alerts you through tones or VDI of a target. After you pinpoint it, you pull a trigger, the MD transmit is interrupted and a minature GPR kicks in and you get a digital image on a screen with enough resolution so you can tell the difference between a coin, tab or a gold ring. Screen will also offer overlays of target depth, s

I think Dan is on target, they need a machine that can compete and that means the ability to unmask well(expanded iron disc, fast retune, tone break option), get deep(10-12"or better), good target ID at depth(tonal and/or VID). Deliver at a price point where its affordable to most. I would rather they hold it back until all the kinks are worked out.

Makes me feel good to read this, picked up a AT Pro Saturday, I only have about 5-6 hrs on it so far. Tried both Pro and Std mode, man that pro mode is a language all its own, Std mode reminds me of the Ace 250. The 5x8 coil is fast becoming my go to coil, same depth as the stocker and great seperation in the trash, actually dug a couple coins colocated with iron and tabs(pro mode), there was no

Try this, don't cancel out iron when setting your disc. Listen for that low tone when you rotate around a target deep or shallow. If I get more than 1 or 2 low tones when rotating around the target, it will be iron most every time. I tested this by digging every target with this signature on several hunts. Great info here and on Toms videos.

Yep, you need to rehunt places that you hunted previously with the other machines. I tell you that because it's what Tom D told me after retuning my CZ3D when I was still relatively new to it. Go slow(sweep) and don't disc out iron unless you just want to cherry pick. You need to read the CZ threads on this forum, very informative..

I use my CZ3D on Texas beaches, wet, dry and even submerged 1 or 2 inches when I need too.. Our beaches are pretty mild, the CZ is a good performer. Get the 10.5 coil if you want to cover lots of ground. I have used the AT PRO, but not on the beach, it does not get the good reviews like the CZ from people who do though.

Kieth are you saying to dedicate one of the two discs to iron range targets and have the other disc(call it # 2) pick up where disc(call it #1) reaches the upper end of the iron range? Neat idea.

I had a Golden Umax a few years back and was amazed how much my nickel count went up, great park/newer homesite machine. Let it go for a F5, I didn't like the 2 middle tones, not enough seperation for my ears and the depth fell short(maxed out @6-7") I haven't tried the newer tone version, but now, if there is truely a new version (with hopefully a GB and a bit more punch), I will

Tried a cover on my 8" CZ coil, it works ok inland, but one trip to the beach changed my mind, sand and water = less stability and weight. . Don't really need them here along the gulf coast anyway, not to much rocky soil to scratch up the coils. I'm going to do a recoat with West System epoxy when the need arises.

Congrats, what testiment to the 3D and it's ability. Work that area thoroughly and from different angles. How many years of detecting before this event?

Year round on the Texas gulf coast, hit the beaches when the northers push the tide way out. I just need the rain to quit for the parks and other older sites, lots of rain this winter, we got 2+ inches yesterday and last night, if if doesn't let up i'll need to get a water machine.

Dan I really like the F5, traded in a Tesoro Golden Umax for it and as much as I liked the Golden, this suits me better. Highly tunable for any hunt, great interface, it is my go to coinshooter, its not a depth monster like a CZ but will get to 8 inches with no problem. EMI is the biggest problem I have with it, but as WJS stated, most time you can adjust for that. I like the tones(freq.) and VID

How about, you trigger a switch and the VLF coil cuts out and a small ground pen. radar kicks in, you X the target and the data is then processed to provide a 3 dimensional image of what is there.

I thought all of the CZ coils interchanged, except the early 4pins on the CZ5 or CZ6. I talked to Felix yesterday and he said, they would not. Maybe Dan or some other long time CZ user can chime in. Thanks Tom

If you hunt places with even moderate trash get a 8" coil when you get the chance. 10.5 is too busy in trash or close multi targets situations.

I'm going to buy Kevin's machine used at a discount when he is finished with it. On a serious note, be patient, I would rather they take their time and get it right before putting them on the market.
