Minelab 5X8 coil
Thank you Tom, if I get the 5X8 coil, would you say for use only in freshwater that I should be using ATLC with the use of the prospecting audio when looking for gold and other low conductors? I assume I should stay away from the beach modes since no salt in my water. Also on small jewelry gold, sho...

Minelab coils for Manticore
Hi there Tom, I see Minelab is having a sale on their coils. I was thinking of taking advantage of getting 2 coils, 12 X15 for sure and either the M8 or the M9. They are for my Manticore. I don't hunt the salt water, strictly freshwater lakes here. Do you think the M9 will get the small micro gold j...

Re: using Manticore in goldfield general for woods hunting
Alright Tom, thanks for the response. For us detectorists that hunt off the beaten path for relics, perhaps maybe in the near future we would see an update from Minelab in regard to iron tone adjustability in goldfield, prospecting theme. Can only hope. Thanks, Tom, for your wisdom. Steve

Re: using Manticore in goldfield general for woods hunting
I thank you Tom for clearing that up for me. I understand now that iron tones have their limitations then when only in the gold field gen, with prospecting audio. I would be curious Tom if that would be a big job or even doable to change up the software to incorporate an iron pitch and volume contro...

Re: using Manticore in goldfield general for woods hunting
Thank you, Tom, for that enlightening and recommended settings. Sure sounds like a powerful mode and I hope I will be able to stay with it. I like your idea to start off though in ATHC with prospecting theme and a bit lower on sensitivity. Why I'm talking about the goldfield mode, something in the s...

using Manticore in goldfield general for woods hunting
This is for Tom or anyone that might have used the Manticore in goldfield general. Question is this considered the deepest of all the modes and especially using with the audio theme prospecting? Would like to try this out for woods hunting for relics, mostly for fur trade items and frequent high con...

Re: MINELAB MANTICORE: DATA & PERFORMANCE
No, your fine Tom, I wasn't fully understanding the settings that were or were not available in the goldfield mode and how to convey what I was trying to do with them. You cleared most of that up. What I'm not sure about yet is the prospecting audio theme in goldfield. I understand that the other 3 ...

Re: MINELAB MANTICORE: DATA & PERFORMANCE
Thank you Tom, Yes that makes sense now how you put it . Either a grayed in area or clear area. Depends how much iron descrim I dial in and where the target falls. I assume the bigger the iron or nails the higher up the scale the ID will read and would think the higher the pitch of the tone. I will ...

Re: MINELAB MANTICORE: DATA & PERFORMANCE
Have a few questions for Tom and other seasoned users of the M-core. I'm still learning about this detector and have not been out much with it. I noticed today while playing with the settings inside my house the following; In goldfield mode I'm not sure if I can change the ferrous volume and the ton...
